I don't know if Shump was ruined by the higher ups. I do worry that they rushed him back from surgery, had him only have one surgery instead of two (I believe that the better outcome is two surgeries for his injury) and that he needed another procedure over the summer. In regards to attitude issues, poor decision making, bad shot selection etc., that was all in the scouting report prior to his being drafted. He is a guy that gained a lot by having elite athleticism.
Dolan is an immature fool. He does not like Shump because he showed loyalty to Lin. JR attacked Lin in the papers and was awarded a contract for little brother. Shump lost his mojo because he did not get the support from the team and it starts at the top.
I disagree. I can see where Lin may not have been resigned because Dolan reacted emotionally but I also think it could have just been a business move based on the poison pill third year. In regards to Shump or anyone else on the team being treated differently because of their relationship with Lin I think that idea is ridiculous. I think all of the trade rumors surrounding Shump impacted his play. I think his first and second surgeries have impacted his play. Some of the low character vets on the team may have impacted his play but I don't think anyone in management is looking to hurt guys on the team because they enjoyed playing with Jeremy Lin.

Bargnani will be making $12M in 2014-15. Does his contract have a "poison pill"? What will that cost the Knicks in luxury taxes? $50M?
Enough already. Either Lin is worth $10M next year or he isn't. These colorful little sound bites don't add anything to the conversation, and it is not Lin's contract alone that would be causing the Knicks to be over the cap. What is Amare's contract at this point? Poisonous? Nuclear? What will Carmelo's be once he re-ups?

Bargnani was acquired with cap space that was already used. The guys moved for him were combined made his salary. Bargs actually helps the Knicks in 2015 because his deal comes off before Novak. Lin's deal was set up to put them in the highest offender category. Estimates of what that third year would cost the Knicks went as high as 65 million.
Steve Novak was signed to his contract the same offseason as Lin's supposed poison pill.
So Novak (+ Camby) became Bargnani, who is at $12M next year.
So why is it Lin's contract in particular that was poisonous? Why is it not 1 dimensional spot shooter Steve Novak?
Camby's deal had to be 3 years to do a sign and trade. His third year was a team option with a minimal amount guaranteed so he would be off the books in year 3. Lin's deal spiked from 5 mil his second year to 15 mil his third year, the first year when the new cba penalizes teams at a much higher rate if they are over the cap. There are some loop holes in the new cba that really benefit teams under the cap and hurt teams over the cap. The Knicks probably would have been better off if they didn't win the bird's rights case. I think Lin would have resigned for the mid level. Also, I can't remember but had the Knicks already lost Lin to Houston when they resigned Novak? I thought the plan was to have the two of them back.
