Imagine?! The coach simply pointed out he was taking bad shots and spots where he should make a pass and he responded (like Kobe did back in the day) by being an ******* and passing up open shots.

Nevermind, his brother just got 435K for basically a few months, the fact that Knicks were stupid enough to agree to that packaged deal the playoffs is mind blowing.

At this point the damage was done, no reason to even cut him at this point.

I'd love to see JR sent packing too for that tweet though.

Has there ever been a more dysfunctional player than JR Smith?

JR Rider wasn't this bad

If he clears waivers and signs with Erie it would be the ultimate double dip.

This part made me chuckle.

JR is spitting in the face of his teammates. Does he realize how much of a joke this whole Chris smith is?

JRs spitting in the face of the organization that bent over backwards to give him what he wanted when he really didn't deserve it. Seeing his sense of entitlement here is really pissing me off.

TeamBall - what organizatioin bids against itself?

Absolutely, Chris Smith was as valuable as his uniform number, but what suit caved and paid him a half mil for nothing?

Stop the madness.

Like MS said, the fact that the deal was made in the first place is just terrible. Yes, I do blame Dolan.

not sure if anyone said this but did anyone bring up the possibility that jr smith gave the knicks a discount b/c they would sign him brother? and now that his brother has been cut, they reneged on a promise to him for signing a cheaper deal?

you never know what's going on behind the scenes but for jr smith to bring up words like "betrayal", it seemed like he was lied to.

It's pretty obvious that was the deal. Chris got his money though, so not sure what his problem is. They couldn't pay him to hangout with the team anymore. They really need the roster spot. JR isn't holding up his end of the bargain though. He has basically no showed this season.

Thats a good point. Seems like if he could have been paid more money he could have spotted chris the money?

I think its about Chris getting an opportunity which he got, but if he don't make good on it then his play spoke for itself.

Chris Smith, 26, signed a two-year contract with the Knicks in September. The first year of his contract, which pays him $490,000, became fully guaranteed in October. The second year of his contract was non-guaranteed. Chris Smith signed his contract two months after J.R. Smith, 28, agreed to re-sign with the Knicks on a three-year contract worth $17.9 million. Because the Knicks are in the luxury tax zone this year, Chris Smith’s contract will wind up costing the team a total of more than $2 million.

Although the 6-foot-2 Chris Smith played college basketball at Louisville, he is widely regarded as a player lacking in NBA talent. He averaged 5.2 points (on 29 percent shooting) and 1.4 assists for the Knicks during the 2012 Summer League, he averaged 5 points (on 22 percent shooting) and 1.8 assists during the 2013 Summer League, and he averaged 11.3 points (on 50 percent shooting) and 2.7 assists during six games with the BayHawks this season.

a lot of us have thought this as i recall.

what this may mean is that jr may also be on his way out if he doesn't fall in line and improve his play.

The instagram post should be the last straw. He needs to be fined or suspended for a game....I personally would not allow him in the msg facility, pending a trade. His conduct is detrimental to or existence

We signed him for at least another 3yrs

We are not waiving him.
He is untradeable.
Who in their right mind is going to want anything to do with him.

Jr is not untradable, stop it now. His value is low but his contract is cheap and he does have talent still.
