Why the hell would we want Gasol. At first I thought this was about Marc but now I see it's about his soft as Kleenex brother. Tyson is much better than Gasol and we have him under contract so why on Earth would we trade him for a Gasol rental. JR is a bum but I don't hate him nearly enough to trade Tyson chandler for 2013 Pau Gasol...

Yeah but it's a pointless clearing of $21 mil since we'd still be over the cap.

I think it would be to get rid of JR since he has 2 or 3 years after season. Am I wrong about the # of years?

Regardless, it's a waste since we have no pick now..

Yeah, it's JR's 6 mil in 2015 that matters. But that's not enough for the deal to be worth it. If they'd take Felton and give us Jordan Hill, that's another story.

Tyson stock is high again off that 4 or so game sample so the Knicks need to get value back for Tyson and especially if they include Shump, who may be broken but his ours. I think they will wait on any trades of Tyson until the deadline.

If I am the Knicks I would be praising Tyson and explaining how valuable he is to let teams know they need to come with something that would blow them over.

We'd basically be trading the most efficient for the least efficient big man in the league. And it would be a downgrade in terms of defense too.

I meant Knicks trading Chandler for gasol is hardly giving Chandler away.....

Gasol is an upgrade to the overall skill set of the team. We suck on the board plus offense and defense. Gasol gives us that upgrade. He's an expiring too.... is a no brainer in my opinion.

Plus I think adding jr smith is an added bonus cuz Chandler/jr for gasol works. Maybe we can get a pick or a young guy too.

This should happen if it's available

I think it would be interesting if we could send Tyson and JR to LA which would be a big upgrade for them and then flip Gasol to Houston for Lin and Asik and potentially a pick. I think the rockets would do that. Obviously it adds a lot to the luxury tax but it helps the knicks fill needs get's them younger and doesn't impede their cap position in 2015
Pablo, Hardaway, Shumpert, Melo, Asik, with Lin, Stat off the bench isn't half bad

Numbers don't lie but your eyes don't either. Tyson has been here long enough to realize he is not what his rep says. Trading for gasol accelerates the plan to get under the cap.

What is the big picture? Are we groupies or are we trying to fix this mess? If they can get gasol for tyson and jr then hallelujah. Work on trading Amare too.... not for rondo but do it for Wallace and Humphries... then trade Felton for Lowry....

cap space mutha****a!!!

Plus the revamp could possibly get us into the playoffs and make noise

You don't give someone a $20 and ask for a $5. They've gotta at least take Felton and give us a pick, but I think including Jordan Hill would make it more reasonable. Taking JR's $6 mil off is not that pressing.
Pay attention the the actual results. "Skill set" and a quarter will get you a gum ball.

gotta love agreeing with the metricsbeast.

Yes, by all means lets put Pau next to Bargs. Then bring Stat in off the bench for Melo. Can you say sieve?

We can all hold hands and sing "Killing me Softly"

Ha- no way in hell! I'm curious to know what the heck your reasoning is. Gasol is done and a FA who said he plans in going back to Memphis. We ship out the two better players and essentially get nothing in return.

Tyson has good value- you can get some picks back for him. Shump can get you a young player. That lakers deal means you're giving them away for free!

Picks? did you not see the reality check thread? who needs picks... LOL

me too.. gasol would easily be the most talented player on our team.. although in decline, he still has a set of skills that no one player on our team has....

Bonn, chandler can't stay healthy and honestly we get rid of his salary... This team is not a winning formula.. so I envision pau coming off the books, chandler, JR smith and then the true blessing carmelo opts out... that would take over 40 mil off the books next year... then you can start the fire sale earlier..

I am all for that...

why would houston give up those guys and a pick for a gasol rental? that is not how Houston does business.. they are said to have a trade for asik pretty much done... and I bet it looks nothing like this...

I think that "rumor" has gotten traction because Housotn did attempt to trade for Gasol last year or the year before. In theory they should be interested but in all probability it is just the press/bloggers recycling rumors
