We are coming off a 54 win season and while we are playing horrific ball we are 3.5 games out of home court advantage in round one with 60+ games to play. Sorry, I dont care what you have seen, pulling the plug is totally premature.Need to accomplish:
1) upgrade PG. We need someone who can bring anything to the table. Kyle Lowry and Darren Collison come to mind as guys who could be had and add a new dimension here. Collison = speed Lowry a guy who can get into the paint and make a play.
2) dump the deadwood. Easier said than done but hopefully Barg's #s get to a point where some folks around the league are willing to take a shot. Im not deluding myself into thinking we can find a take for JR, but if he has any stretch of reasonable basketball I would take any offer. Addition by subtraction.
3)get healthy. Hard to say Tyson's legs will be fresh (maybe one will be) but getting him healthy, and getting any consisten production from Amare/KMart will be huge. Amare's bench role last year would be epic.
4) Laugh at stupid Knick fans.
Rebuilding makes no sense. Not without a pick this year. Stay the course, hold the coaches and players accountable and get them playing better. My god there are 60+ games left to get this right.
We fix this (and not even fast) and the Knicks will be the 4 seed, beat some crapola team in the first round and Dolan will telling all the donkey Knick fans that this team has advanced 2 years in a row and after we get eliminated the goal will be to compete for a title next year.
Sorry, but I have yet to read a rebuilding scenario on this board that makes sense (now).
This is what I think can and will happen.
honestly fish, staying the course will only delay the growth or the potential of ever building a winner..
Here is a rebuilding scenario that makes sense.. start with trading carmelo for anything you can get. That would be a great start, especially if you can get a pick out of it..
next dump chandler for a pick and expiring if you can..
that plan right there is better than staying this course..
that 54 win team you eluded to, not only overachieved but they Retired.
