ask the posters here. they're all knicks fans. put up a poll and see for yourself.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

he does not and should not get a pass. stop trying to put lipstick on a pig-- it's getting annoying

speaking of annoying, sorry but this is garbage. First of all he's a player, and last I check they dont trade themselves. Second he was in a walk year in a year when the CBA was expiring. Getting a new deal under the old CBA wasnt stupid, it was smart. Its called life. Why not just call him greedy and stupid for not taking the mid level exception. Same posters spewing the same garbage while they dont even watch the games or cares what happens.

he had an opportunity to provide services at the price best suited to his actual value, which is clearly 13-15 million per year. but money comes before winning, ie price trumps value.

i can imagine a much better knick team in 2012-2013 and this year had he waited and been traded to a one year rental team... or screwed the nuggets by simply not getting any takers for the one year rental, or at least been able to leverage a much less costly trade.

but he is a very narrow-minded person and does not think about the big picture except through the lens of greenbacks.

what planet are you from? Who are you to tell Melo not to take what someone is offering him? For who's benefit? Its idiotic. Exactly what I have come to expect from the quality of posting around here. Zero basis in reality. Once in the history of pro sports can I remember guys taking less to make the team better and thats Wade/Lebron/Bosh, and lets be fair about that.. they took less for EACH OTHER, not for the HEAT. Lebron wasnt taking less money to give the Heat a better chance to field a great team. He took less to play with his buddies Bosh and Wade.

If your going to regurgitate the same crap 40x a day in every thread at least be accurate about the situation.

Exactly. Also before you go crazy praising James and Bosh you have to remember that Florida has no state income tax. After Melo pays almost 9% state income tax his take home salary is close to identical to those guys.

Fishmike--the more I think about it---Im not interested in giving Melo 30mm per year until he is 35. Hes got major miles on him--we cant afford to pay him that kind of loot. If hes willing to do 5 years 100mm 20 per that would be my max limit. As you can see we need the dollars to help build a team. Paying one guy not named Lebron or Durant a dollar more than 20mm is insane.

briggs 20 mil is more than paul george is getting, can you still justify that for a declining player in carmelo? 13-15 mil max is what he should be looking at, preferably on another team...

Carmelo Anthony has the NY Knicks by the cahones.

Only because the organization is clueless

Clueless about what exactly? Dolan wants to make money and Melo helps him do that.

Clueless about how to build a great team but you're right that's not their goal anyway

they took less money so they could have the best opportunity to win titles. that they were buddies to begin with is purely secondary. they valued winning titles over making as much money as possible. they now have two titles because of their collective valuation of what it takes to win.

on my planet, having already made 58 million dollars and knowing that i can look forward to many many millions more dollars, and seeing my contemporaries taking less money to win... i would think about emulating them.

and finally, who is doing the offering here? you mean jim dolan? the guy who has two feet firmly planted on your planet... right?

two teams were willing to offer Melo an extension after the trade. LMAO at your idiotic comments about winning first and playing in Miami with their buddies second. Good one. Please post your proof. Or name ONE other scenario where a player left money on the table to help their team win. You wont find it.

Lipstick indeed.

Yeah some here just don't get the logic. Like you are supposed to pass up all that money to play with gallo and chandler lol.

Exactly. Also before you go crazy praising James and Bosh you have to remember that Florida has no state income tax. After Melo pays almost 9% state income tax his take home salary is close to identical to those guys.

14 million is 67% of 21 million not 91%. I agree that the income tax is a factor but I don't know what math you're doing to say that their salaries are almost identical when taking it into consideration. I think it was fair for melo to get his max contract before the cba revision and from what I remember there was 0 debate over whether he was a max player or not. On the other hand, now I'd like for him to take less as I feel we've already done him a solid with that last contract and he hasn't delivered much (which is only partially his fault). Age is important in determining a contract, it's a lot easier to offer 26 year old melo max money than it is to hand 27 million a year over to a player that will be on the wrong side of 30.

Melo makes $21,388, 953. He is taxed on that by NYS at a rate of 8.97%. It comes out to almost 2 million given to NYS. The difference in his salary and LBJ or Bosh's salary is $400,000 after you subtract the state tax from Melo's salary. Would he give up $400,000 to add a bosh or wade talent, absolutely.

Not resigning Melo would be catastrophic. I know the grass is always greener but come on... the guy is talented

your wrong. Anyone can give you 30 points and 18 boards against the best team in the conference when your team is desperate for a win. Anyone can go out and jack enough shots to score 30 a night and with their team 54 wins.

Here's the part where Bonn and TFK ruin any possible discussion on this forum as they jerk each other off over a photo of Melo with DK and 3Gs feces wiped all over it. Go to it boys.

you put so much weight into these empty performances... paul george kicked his sloppy azz fish..

carmelo played hard, but don't make more of it than it really is... the knicks were desperate for wins 3 games ago...
