Tells you all you need to know how stupid this trade was...
Only because they know that would get messy. If it was Melos equivalent they accept that deal in a second. We would be crazy to take long term contracts of that value for role players. A majority of people as well as the team still makes that trade over again without hesitation. Only those who don't like Melo personally don't.
no!!! walsh didn't want to make the trade.. people with a basketball brain understand you don't make this trade....
If it was Melos equivalent they accept that deal in a second.
what the heck does that mean?
Listen, the trade was horrible.... only the knicks make trades like this, the same way they traded picks to get a 40 year old broken down camby.. tell me, who the hell trades picks to get a 40 year old player? then the bargnani trade.... I will say this.. all of those trades i doubt any other team in the history of the NBA would make.. especially the god awful carmelo trade..LOL
Papabear SaysTKF you opinion about the Melo trade should be null and void. You personally have a hate for Melo and everyone here knows it so why are you trying to be rational about this trade. Anything regarding Melo you should recluse yourself because you can't really give an honest opinion. We know who and what you are.
My personal dislike is also backed up with facts... The trade sucks, it drained us of assets.. fact, we are not a contender, fact...we are in a tough position because of the trade.. FACT..
That is true if I liked carmelo or hated him...
The Knicks have made the playoffs every season melo has been in ny. They won the Atlantic and had the second seed in the east. Nine games in and the season is over? Tyson is out, jr is rusty and coming back from Ian injury, felton isn't right etc. last time I checked playoff seedlings weren't set in mid November.
is that why we gutted our team? to just make the playoffs, we were headed there without the trade.... and right now we are on a decline..
not good at all..
This has been discussed in detail. There was no indication we were a playoff team before Melo, especially considering amare and his declining health. You severly overrate that team. They were a .500 team with amare at an MVP level. None of those players have improved, amare has decline, yet you think that was a team capable of the same success as last years team lol. That was fun team but seeing the players 3 years later I know there was no hope.
they were 28-26 with amare before the trade, do the math, that is above .500
after the trade that year we went 14-14 with carmelo.. that is a .500 team
That was fun team but seeing the players 3 years later I know there was no hope.
rofl.. sure, because we all know this team now, is just full of hope.... after carmelo opts out and Denver gets out lottery pick, I will make sure we revisit this post..
28-26, essentially .500 basketball with MVP level amare. How does that team do today with amare?
Probably somewhere around 3-6!
Haha, fine, but how about last season? Doubt 54-wins and 2nd round was ever possible with that group. Reality is we would have paid Gallo like he was a future star, W Chandler, Amare would still be on the books, and any remaining assets or cap space would have been used on Monta Ellis, OJ Mayo, or Rudy Gay, etc. We had no ability to get Harden, Dwight, or Paul having seen the packages those teams got for them. We would be stuck right now with Gallo, W Chandler, broken down Amare, Felton, one of those players listed above, and a couple of decent role players via draft. We were headed to perennial first round exits on the years we make the playoffs and a majority of our cap space used. If you think we are in trouble now, imagine that.
