Forget where his game serves this team best--supplying offense on that 2nd team. What about what's good for the team, JR? That's first of all...Second, does he honestly believe he's in a position to talk as if the spot's his, after all the nonsense he's pulled? Don't get yourself suspended next season for the start, then maybe we'll talk about competing for a starting role, OK buddy? Jesus..LOL...And what does him popping off about starting say about the respect he has for Shumpert? Way to show support for Shump there, dummy...He knows damn well that spot was Shump's last year and he hasn't done a thing to lose it. I mean that's your teammate, your friend...Kinda lousy to be talking about taking his job like that, no? I dunno...I don't wanna hear another thing about this guy starting. If he keeps it up, Melo, Tyson or somebody needs to intervene and tell him to pipe the F down, concentrate on getting 100% healthy, coming back and doing whatever coach wants him to do, whatever it takes to get your team a ring. That's all that matters. A RING. Immature players talk about starting; mature players want rings, however they can get 'em...This guy's a joke...The Knicks are the only organization that was willing to pay him $18mm, and coach Woody is the only coach out there that's willing to put up with the nonsense and give this guy cart-blanche freedom on offense to fire away from anywhere. Without Woody, this guy doesn't put up those inflated numbers and doesn't get paid nowhere near $18mm. I mean we gave this guy the moon; now he wants the moon and the stars...Oh, yeah, do this for my brother too -- take him for SL, for training camp, etc...LMAO..F outta here with this guy already.
if you read the second part of JR's quote then there is nothing so bad to complain about ... but I guess this is less interesting then to bash JR and the Knicks
“But at the same time, if that’s what my team needs me to do, that’s what I’ll do. If Coach (Mike Woodson) wants me to be a sixth man, I’ll be a sixth man. If he wants me to start, I’ll start. That’s up to him.”
^ OK, fair enough. That's more like it. More in line with what we need to be hearing.
Look man, JR Smith can clearly help this team if he's got his head screwed on straight. Sometimes, as everyone has seen, it ain't always screwed on straight... As long as he's talking like there's one team/one fight, I'm good. Fact of the matter is this team's good enough to compete for a championship. Things need to break right of course, it all needs to gel together etc., but if you go by what we've managed to assemble on paper suddenly, you can argue that this team might not get a better chance to compete for a ring during the Melo/Tyson/Amar'e era more than this year. JR's clearly a big part of the mix -- I just want the guy focused, saying the right things...No distractions. Come on man -- don't go out of your way to cause distractions esp. after you're hurt and nursing yourself back to health (still didn't care for him going public about not disclosing the severity of his knee problem until after he signed a deal. Pipe down, nobody needed to hear that---the Knicks couldn't possibly have been happy with those comments. Any team out there that may have had interested in JR and passed laughed their asses off when they heard this
), esp. after the team paid you handsomely to return when no one else would've, esp. after our coach gives you all sorts of freedom on the court (the type of leeway no other coach in his right mind would ever give him), esp. after he let the team down with all the immaturity during the playoffs
AND THEN AGAIN for failing a drug test (3-time violator) and now awaiting a 5 game suspension once healthy
, and finally after the team agreed to take care of your brother to a certain degree (he clearly won't make this team, but 2 years in a row now the Knicks have agreed to pay Chris Smith for SL and training camp---how much $$ did that all add up to for brother Chris? $200,000? More? Not bad for a couple of months work, right? Chris Smith is gonna need to put his Louisville degree to good use now and go get a regular job somewhere like everyone else. 200K is a nice head start in life for any regular guy though, right?) Point being here is that after all this stuff, it just doesn't look right to hear any nonsense outta JR's mouth. Maybe he's finally realizing that now and turning the corner. Good. Let's hope so..
