If we stay healthy, relatively speaking, skies the limit.. but i guess you can say that about most teams..

we still need to fill that back up pg slot, any prime pg's subject to waiver? It's gotta be another LIN TYPE player out there somewhere..

We have more dimensions to our offense right now and have become younger at the same time, while having a smarter Shumpert and a hungrier Carmelo.

Line up should be

C:Chandler/Kmart
Pf:Bargs/Amare
SF:Melo/Metta/leslie
SG:Shumpert/Smith/Hardaway
PG: Felton/Prigioni

Jennings,Tyler,Murry,Sims,Jordan and some random training camp invite should round out the last 3 spots.

A hungrier Carmelo? That's the only thing that will make this year's team weaker...

What worries me is Grunnie said they've told Amar'e to rest this offseason instead of working out. Melo is resting to heal his shoulder, and now JR will have to rest after his surgery. That's 3 key players that will be rusty as hell to start the season- I'm expecting a slow start.

Not to mention Melo will be out of shape. Amare takes care of himself so he will probably be in shape. I don't know about JR but he is on rest the entire offseason -can't blame him if he is a little out of shape.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I am not worried about Amare. I think he has to be told to tone it down and I think he broke down at training camp because he worked so hard to get back to where he was pre-injury. I do worry about Melo's shoulder. Rehabbing a tear through pt doesn't always work. If Melo starts to lift weights etc the chance of re-injury has to be pretty high. I really wish he just had surgery on it.

The shoulder is somewhat like the back. Once it is structurally damaged--its a tough fix on it's own. It can feel fine but is susceptible to re-injury

The roster is really starting to take shape. Looks like it could potentially be:

C Chandler/Martin/Tyler
PF Bargnani/Stoudemire
SF Anthony/MWP/Leslie
SG Shumpert/Smith/Hardaway jr.
PG Felton/Prigioni/Bobby Brown?

15th spot could be left open for impressive training camp invite or late free agent that fell thru the cracks (similar to how we got Brewer.)

Still need to shore up some of these moves, but i like the way this roster is shaping up if some of the above anticipated signings get done. We got a lot younger and will have a nice mix of veterans and young prospects, something we really lacked last season.

We have to be better because evryone else got better in the East and plus we went all in with this group so we are going to go as far as they tale us. I still am very concerned with the lack of big men who can rebound and defend. Assuming Martin comes back he will be good but Tyson has to step it up especially after what hibbert did to him

Team can become better if they move the ball and make teams run around trying to defend them.

That was last seasons recipe.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Melo came into last season in excellent condition. Whats makes you think he's going to be out of shape next yr? A shoulder injury is going to keep him from conditioning?

That's right- we don't know what will happen, and that's why I enjoy watching basketball. You act as though only bad things are going to happen and it's already a fact!

when you have a track record you can make some assumptions. wins and losses are a track record. statistics can be used to a certain extent as a track record.

bargnani's track record is one of losses and selfish play and softness. lets start there. "new beginnings" "fresh starts" "different situation" can't obscure that.

smith has a track record as does felton and melo and woodson. winning significant playoff series barely registers a blip on their collective radar.

last season there was a track record of 54 regular-season wins. then playoff struggles against an undermanned celtic squad and then the predictable second round punishment. woodson's track record in the second round of the playoffs is one of punishment.

knicks played their first 6-8 games like world-beaters then regressed into poor habits on both ends of the floor.

that is a track record.

the knicks didn't improve but their rivals did.

by most all accounts, the Knicks exceeded expectations by winning the Atlantic division. Brooklyn, Boston failed in that respect. KG and Pierce under performed all season long and will be a year old and bring that game to the Nets.

Let us not pretend that the Knicks weren't as undermanned as the Celtic squad: Knicks barely had any bigs.

I think the Knicks have improved their roster from the previous year, especially if they add KMart for full year. Still an uphill battle.

I think most are underestimating how important Kidd and Rasheed were in getting us off to a hot start last year. Savvy vets that knew how to win right out of the gate. That gave the team confidence that carried the season. Melo was coming from playing in the Olympics in great shape and highly motivated. Same thing happened the last time he played in the Olympics. It's going to be interesting to see how they start the season.

Hopefully, an improved Shump will be a significant contributor right off the bat, but it will hurt missing JR. Amar'e is always a question mark, but he's another that can make a difference if he can stay healthy. Bargnani will have some good games, but I don't expect the chemistry to be there until later in the season.

I definitely don't think we start as well as last season. Overall, I'm thinking we do worse in regular season figuring in JR's recovery and Amar'e's inevitable injuries.

can't do worse with Amare. And I think the Knicks big's situation should be better.

Prigs has an additional year and Shump will have all year.

Addition of Metta and Bargs come out of nowhere.

For me, the team has improved. We will have to see if they jell and who Melo recovers from shoulder.

54 wins was great to see. I loved the way we ended the season. i just felt that we should have played better against indiana and it was disappointing. The Bulls and Indiana both have their best players coming back so they will be better, the nets as much as i hate them will be better, and miami still has the best player on the planet.
