“The Knicks have always been my favorite team,’’ Tyler said. “I’d love to be part of the organization. People would say, ‘you’re from San Diego. Why aren’t you a Lakers fan?’’’

After being cut by the Warriors and Hawks, Tyler went to the D-League with Santa Cruz and reached the league championship.

Tyler skipped college to play one year in Israel and Japan, and was drafted in the second round by the Warriors.

“Business takes over,’’ Tyler said. “Golden State wanted more room for cap space and Atlanta needed the roster spot for a guard, not a big. If I keep playing hard, things will fall into place.’’

History repeats itself as the New Yorkers snatch another Golden Stata prospect

would woodson actually use him?

you just know woodson is lobbying for kenyon or brand over this kid who could potentially help us way more this year and into the future.

We've got 5 spots open. We could add Metta and KMart and still have room for 3 kids on the roster. Tyler wouldn't really play much this year IMO. He's still raw.

really think Jerome Jordan's body is actually ready to play NOW as a 3rd string

no, he isn't as talented and physically gifted like Tyler is but he has put MUCH WORK on these couple of years and filled out his body
For instance, he would have a shot in defending Hibbert and some of the BIGS in the Bulls/Nets/Pacers, while Tyler would still need time to develop for his potential
While Kmart would be good enough at C for regular season games, he won't be nearly big enough vs playoff teams in a playoffs atmosphere/intensity, especially vs Hibbert/Noah

They both came in the league together but one took the time to put in the work needed to get better and the other still has "potential" and time to turn it around

By 3 kids, is Hardaway included in that? Bc Leslie, Murry and Tyler are guys that look pretty solid to me and I hope we don't lose them.

Leslie looks like a serious athlete that can do those JR type things, but seems like he needs to mature a bit. I like his game though.

I would keep Tyler on this roster, especially if KMart is resigned. It would serve him well to be at the end of the bench and watch Chandler & KMart for D and Amar'e for O.

How many guys can be sent to the Bayhawks and are they untouchable to other teams when that's the case?

11 Spots taken:

C - Tyson Chandler
F - Andrea Bargnani, Carmelo Anthony, Metta World Peace, CJ Leslie, Amare Stoudemire
G - Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Pablo Priginoi, Tim Hardaway JR

4 spots available. Maybe Murry and Tyler leaving 2 for vets? We'll see!

Two guys under contract with the Knicks can be sent to the Bayhawks.

yes they can but they would still count towards our 15man roster
I hope Murry is one that stays with the team though because he is ready to contribute right away on both ends of the court
He is the only G that is capable of defending the PG spot, penetrate, and play PG for us, next one is JR Smith

OK so to add to Chuck's post

C - Tyson Chandler
F - Andrea Bargnani, Carmelo Anthony, Metta World Peace, CJ Leslie, Amare Stoudemire
G - Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Pablo Priginoi, Tim Hardaway JR

4 more - KMart, Tyler, Murry, FA PG

Would you be cool w/ that?

Cool Widit

C - Tyson Chandler
F - Andrea Bargnani, Carmelo Anthony, Metta World Peace, CJ Leslie, Amare Stoudemire
G - Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, JR Smith, Pablo Priginoi, Tim Hardaway JR
4 more - KMart, Tyler, Murry, FA PG

The roster has held its core and upgraded the three.

Gruntled has snuck in a crazy blend of wayward yoots yearning for a second chance. Who set we cannot rebuild with yoots?

CJ Leslie was undrafted due to uneven effort. Jeremy Tyler left the country too soon and learned the hard way about shrinking his ego. Tim Hardaway Je. is working to make a name for himself. Terrence Jennings was declared not ready for prime time but shows signs of decent (7-11) offense. Toure Murry wants to prove he can be a floor leader.

They all have something to prove.

Meanwhile, Ron Artest returns home, finally, trying to prove he is a winner on the brightest stage in the world.

Can't Wait.

Jeremy Tyler, legit shot to make the Knicks roster and possibly crack the rotation:

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/47110/agent-tyler-might-have-shot-with-knicks

LAS VEGAS -- After three games in the NBA summer league, center Jeremy Tyler has emerged as a compelling candidate to secure one of the Knicks' four remaining roster spots.

Gabe Giordano, the agent for Tyler, who's averaging close to a double-double, told ESPNNewYork.com that he envisions a future for his client on the Knicks.

"While there have been no formal negotiations with the Knicks to this point, there is every indication that the Knicks would like to have Jeremy in training camp," Giordano said. "They have expressed interest in grooming him to become a valuable big man for their organization in the future."

Giordano is hopeful that if Tyler continues to make a "positive impression" in Las Vegas, he could finalize a contract with a team in the next week or two. Giordano believes Tyler's vast basketball experience overseas and in the NBA has prepared him for a permanent roster spot.

"Turning 22 years of age just over a month ago, yet already having several years of professional basketball experience on his resume is a huge plus for Jeremy as he competes for a Knicks roster spot," Giordano said.

So far in Las Vegas, Tyler has played well defensively, moving his feet effectively to protect the basket and talking constantly to assist his teammates. It's the kind of defense that wins over Mike Woodson.

Tyler is also relentless crashing the glass, and he finishes well around the rim to complement his fluid midrange jump shot. On offense, he needs to work on improving his court awareness and passing ability, as well as fine-tuning his true center skills, such as setting picks and rolling to the basket.

After summer league wraps up next week, Giordano said Tyler, who's from San Diego, Calif., will continue to train in Southern California. Meanwhile, Giordano will continue to discuss a deal with the Knicks or elsewhere.

"There are several other teams interested in Jeremy, but we are not at liberty to comment on the details of those interested teams at this point," he said.

On Sunday, Woodson spoke highly of the 6-foot-10 Tyler, even mentioning a potential training camp invite.

"I like him as well as a camp guy because of his body size and the fact that he's so athletic," the coach said. "You might look at him four, five years down the road and say, 'Wow, he finally figured it out.'"

So how did Tyler react to Woodson's vision for him this fall?

"Wow," he said. "I haven't heard anything. It's still early. You've got to let my agents and management group talk to [the Knicks], and hopefully it works out."

At this point, the Knicks have no real backups behind Tyson Chandler. Tyler has a great opportunity to not only make the Knicks' roster, but also be a part of the rotation.

If Tyler makes the Knicks as a backup and development project, who says the Knick don't have a future?

Maybe the Knicks picked the right Jeremy this time...

Tyson and Tyler

"While there have been no formal negotiations with the Knicks to this point, there is every indication that the Knicks would like to have Jeremy in training camp," (agent Gabe Giordano said). "The (Knicks) have expressed interest in grooming him to become a valuable big man for their organization in the future."

An athletic 6'10 is exactly what IronWillGiroud (cough) ordered.

Right?

Tyson/Tyler comps should be recognized. Tyson was overhyped SoCal H.S. kid who got caught up in the wave to get him to the pro's and clearly he was not ready for prime time. once he found his calling he has turned into a solid pro at his position. Not a star, but solid!

Tyler obviously victom of the hype machine and not college material. He is young with ability and if he can be developed could be a guy who just needed some time. Tyson could be a good mentor for him. Maybe now that JR will be moving out of the Cabin and Melo is back with La La there is room for more players.

The operative word is patience. Grunwald has harvested an intriguing band of athletic misfits who have defied the approval of generic scouting reports.

Tyler has something to prove. Tyson is the perfect mentor.

Whirled Peas absorbs the attention from Andrea Bargnani, who is an afforded extra moment to get comfortable in New York City.

Carmelo tutors CJ Leslie on the finer points of playing while 6'9. Louis Orr, eat your heart out.

Pablo, Raymond and Shump trade Instagrams.
