this is basically how it's done. no tanking. no high draft picks. owner told his gm to spend and instead of pairing marbury + francis or randolph + curry, he went out and got championship pedigree players.

this is what isiah wanted to do and what dolan has wanted since 2001...and the nets did it in 2 short years.

it's pretty darn impressive. miami should be really scared right now. they can send a wave of people - i'm not sure lebron's greatness is great enough to carry wade + bosh past that roster.

Exactly even if the Nyets don't win it all. As a Knicks fan all I ask for is a chance and as the 5th seed with absolutely no assets we don't have a chance until at least 2015-16 when Melo is older and Tyson is old and probably gone

that is possible. just like it is possible fir them to finish higher and make it past the 1st rd. I was just asking would it still be worth it if nets finished 5th or lower?

Aw, you know we'll do better than that somehow! We'll sign and trade and do all kinds of stuff Grunny will be hailed as a wizard for! In July.

What counts is June!!!

I hear you guns.

Nets have a better mix if starphuch with Bropez and Deron in their prime. JJ still young to be in his.

I wiped out the "Marbury and Francis" thing. Im gonna be sick!

Only way we succeed next year is if JR GETS HURT AND SHUMP BECOMES WADE. Bargs starts and becomes Dirk

Lol good luck with that!

No wonder you jumped ship on the board after the Pacers loss. Give yourself realistic expectations of what the Knicks and their players are.

I don't think Shumpert will be Wade or even Westbrook probably. Can he be a Tony Allen or Bruce Bowen with some offense...absolutely!

Bargs had some tough years in Toronto, but had some really good ones too. Every star in Toronto usually left for greener pastures or better winning opportunities elsewhere: Vince Carter, T-Mac, Chris Bosh, Damon Stoudemire, Camby etc. This could be that opportunity for Bargnani.

Is Bargs Dirk 2.0. Hell no. Could he be a great 2nd or 3rd option, instead of seeing Melo and JR ISO all day, why not?

Worst case we'll have a ton of cap space in 2015, with a 31 year old Melo, Shumpert, JR, Felton, THJR, and still own our 2015 draft pick.

Championship still runs through Miami superfriends, don't see why everyone is so down.

Just have to make it as a decent seed in the playoffs and anything can happen. Pacers and Spurs stretched Miami out good, had a chance.

That's all you can ask for.

Shump and Bargs approaching the levels of wade and dirk allows us to play on the same court as Miami and Brooklyn. Anything short of that its 5th seed 1st or 2nd rd and out. You need stars. I don't even think Chicago and Indy have enough to go all the way

The Nets team will be like an all-star team, the ball will move around and nobody will have a SELFISH attitude. WHY>? because they are all well respected. The Nets will likely play ball like a dream team would.

All of these players has played on at least 1 All-star team KG, PIERCE, JOE JOHNSON, ANDRE KIRELINKO, DERON WILLIAMS, JASON TERRY, BROOKE LOPEZ

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

The weird thing about the Nets is that I'm sure the consensus on this board for the past few seasons, was that mortgaging your future for a starphuck is a bad, bad thing, and giving up draft picks is a bad bad thing, and having no cap flexibility is a bad bad thing. But everyone seems to be universally heralding the Nets moves.

They've lost their picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018 (those last two will likely be high). They're capped out a year longer than us too. They have a 1 year window, after that they're likely screwed for years to come.

So I guess, are starphucks that mortgage your future okay as long as they're for KG in the last year of his career and a declining Paul Pierce?

It's different than giving up every asset for Melo and signing an Uninsured Amare. Curry Francis mcdyess marbury and on and on

Good take. Have to say the class of the east is Miami, Nets, Chicago, Indy, then Knicks. Long way to go before we get a glimpse of final rosters and the season delivers the "surprise" teams.

Last year Boston demise was a surprise and really the knicks late surge was unexpected. It made for a great season.

Good reporters mostly got both of these wrong. It happens. I can see Chicago going either way. Rose can beast perhaps but their chemistry is what makes that team tick. Indy will be solid but to what extent? Do they trade Granger for a no. 1 pick? Or his return make them awesome? Again, chemistry will determine. Nets on paper should win a ton of games but we all Know it ain't played on paper.

Nets remind me of the fat heffer that lost a ton of weight and just got a nice boob job.

They still the swamprats from Jersey!

Hey the Lakers won last season's offseason too, and look what happened.

Just sayin'!

Definitely some under the table dealings going on, all overseas of course, so Silver probably can't investigate.

Only explanation for AK47 forfeiting a guaranteed $10mill next year for meager $3m a season contract.

Yeah, sounds likely to me. The Nets are doing a great job on all sides. The Knicks are being pushed to the wayside...

When was the last time a team stack with talent won anything other then a rnd or two in the playoffs..

Its all about the 3 ball, chemistry, some youth, and the right coach, small ball is the era were in guys.

Frank lawrence has done jack in this league since jkidd was his pg, he's been fired twice since..
the nets look good on paper, but thats it, the players dont compliment each other one bit..

Its like tyson, amare, and melo look great on paper, but we see how thats turning out
