Metta for the minimum is a no brainer. I think he still has something left too.

Metta, Brand and Billups to fill out the bench would be too good. Please make it happen.

Teams under the cap are not the kind of teams that will want Metta. Miami, Spurs, Dallas, Brooklyn- I think these are the teams that would make the biggest runs for Mr. Artest.

I wonder if Metta could be a 20 minute starter. Tyson, Melo, Metta, Shump, Felton.... or not enough ball movement?

He can be, but I honestly don't like playing the small lineup for as long as Woodson goes for it. I'd rather Melo at the 3. If we have play to play Melo at the 4, I like this better than Shump having to play SF.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Brand already said he is out of our range. So much for ending his career in NY. Bah

So I guess he has to clear an Amnesty Waiver Period?

I tell you this team is so mismanaged

Over the cap or over the apron u can only bid cap space i guess?

You have to be under the $58.X figure in order to bid on Amnesty players. They can clear the Amnesty period though, maybe Artest will. I could care less if we sign him personally.

I'm shocked there is so much interest in this guy. Yes he might help a little but very insignificant Move IMO. I guess if you can get him for the vet min

That one hurts. It's sad that all we have to offer this offseason is 1.75mil for a team with so many holes

You are probably right but that's how I feel about anyone the Knicks would have picked up. Although, I think in a role with the Knicks Metta can be a little better than he has with the lakers these past few years. In Ny he doesn't have to worry about guarding the primary wing because of Shump. He also could play reduce minutes. He is a decent passer that can defend pretty well and knock down the 3.

I dont think they have to have him or anything like that but if he plays for the min I think its a good signing.

The side advantage is Peace can embrace the role of media scapegoat, allowing JR to play up to his potential and shoot slightly above 8% in the playoffs this time around.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I'm all for Ron Artest to NYK.. how would it happen though? The CBA rules about amnestied players seem to favor teams under the cap. Then there is a bidding system... it's far too complex. If a team cuts a player, he should be able to select his next destination.. he in effect would be a free agent. The CBA is stupid!

The thing that NY has going for them is that Those teams under the Cap don't need Metta or would take a chance on Metta plus he is threatening to retire if he is picked up in a bid.

Yeah, I doubt anyone under the cares about Artest. He'll probably make it through waivers and become a free agent.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I hope so!!! It's crazy how much of a glue player, he'd be in NYK! It seems like a true fit.. two way player, all be it.. about a decade later, he'd still be an integral piece to our squad.

In deference to his hometown, he changes his name back to Ron Artest and beams with pride over the uniform he wanted to wear from day one.

LAS VEGAS — Ron Artest Sr. is hoping if his son, Metta World Peace, is waived today via the amnesty rule, he will attempt to finish his career with the Knicks.

Nevertheless, Artest Sr. said as of last night, World Peace is seriously considering retiring instead of finishing his NBA career in the Big Apple.

Artest Sr. told The Post his son’s strong preference is to remain with the Lakers and he may decide to end his career instead of signing with the Knicks, because he does not want to uproot his kids in Los Angeles.

Earlier in the day, Artest Sr. said, “He wants to stay with the Lakers for a couple of more years but if not, he wants to finish his career in New York if he can. This would be full circle.

By last night, the son was having a change of heart, feeling retirement would be best.

“I know he said he doesn’t want to play with a team like Milwaukee or Minnesota,’’ Artest Sr. said.

Artest Sr. said he still was hoping his son doesn’t retire and comes home.

“Let’s hope and pray it happens,’’ Artest Sr. said.

That was Scott Layden, worst GM in Knicks history. Sorry Isiah, you get 1a to Layden's 1.

Metta will be amnestied
