Look at how it turned out with howard..with his recent injury I dont see his impact being the same.

He never liked Howard...he was trying to use Howard to get what he wanted...He's managed to keep Gasol there and he got Bynum and Shaq traded and Mike Brown Fired. He got Nash to sign there.

having a gigantic amount of cap space with Love, Rondo, Aldridge come up as free agents doesn't present the opportunity to improve?

martin do you honestly think that rondo will leave boston? seriously... And love and Aldridge will be traded IMO to destinations of their choice and resign.... the key is, how many teams will have cap space and a better situation in 2015..

cap space is great martin, but alone is not enough.. you need a combination of cap space, picks and preferably a young core to move forward with.. I mean every team with cap space can say the same thing you are saying.. cleveland will have a ton of cap space then as well, and they will have uncle drew as a major piece to showcase.. young piece... and picks..

I am not buying that the knicks are building towards 2015.. no way, no how.. nothing they are doing is giving me any indication that is what they are trying to do..

The indication that the Knicks will have room to re-tweak in 2015 is right in front of your face: cap space. If you don't want to see it, keep riding blind.

Also, please let me know how much cap space CLE has in 2015 and how many other teams will too. Reasonable expectation.

And yes I do think there is a possibility that Rondo leave, management has been trying to trade him and they keep butting heads. Armed with that, why do you think he will stay?

And Love, Aldridge just watch Howard leave for nothing, just like a lot of others; they can certainly do the same.

I think the whole team is under team option.. they can easily just extend waiters and irving and go from there.

It's interesting because Rondo still wears green. I mean why not have included him in the Brooklyn deal and try and get Deron?

If Cleveland plays it right they should have about as much cap space as we will if Melo is on the books. If Melo isn't on the books then that means he bolted somewhere more than likely L.A.

Supposedly this dinner took place within 24hrs after D-12 made his announcement official and Melo flew out there for dinner.

My guess is Melo is trying to recruit Kobe to NY more than the other way around. Going to LA to play with Kobe for a year or two and having nothing else around him doesn't sound attractive at all. Wouldn't be surprised if Kobe leaves. LA has nothing to offer either player besides each other for a very short period of time.

Lakers will have major cap space the yr prior to us having cap space...Nobody is signed but Nash. You think Lakers won't be able to sign anyone?

If it was what you're trying to portray..... then Melo being a true New York Boss would have told Kobe to fly his broke ankle arse out to New York not the other way around.

So you are convinced that Melo will go to LA to team with Nash, broken Kobe and ...? And who? who else?

Not convinced but are the Lakers a "Clear And Present Danger"....yep surely they are

Some Restricted but most Unrestricted

Dirk
DeMarcus Cousins
Rudy Gay
Derrick Favors
Trevor Ariza
Larry Sanders
Thabo Sefelosha
Greivis Vasquez
Chris Bosh
Luke Ridnour
Eric Bledsoe
Ed Davis
Danny Granger
Luol Deng
Kyle Lowry
Paul Piece
Paul George
Avery Bradley
Zach Randolph
Jerryd Bayless
Evan Turner
Kris Humphries

Melo and Kobe only need a combination of 2 or 3 from this list, to be seriously relevant again

listing all of the free agents available is not really building a team and setting any type of expectations for how and why Melo would want to go there.

Again. Nash at $10M, maybe Melo at $15M. Broken, 36 year old Kobe at how much? Who else fits in cap and what players will be there?

Rondo has already given indication he wants out. And Knicks will have cap space in 2015, that is an indication they are allowing themselves that opportunity. Knicks with Melo, Shumpert, Hardaway jr, and the cap space will pose one of the more attractive situations for any major free agent that summer. We have young pieces, and not having a couple late first round picks won't matter in this case.

you asked me how much cap space the cavs will have and i answered that martin.. I just gave an example.. those teams are actually building towards the future.. it is not a cop out... what you are trying to do is convince yourself that the knicks are strategically planning to open cap space in 2015 to go after love and rondo.. I am telling you I don't buy it one bit... If they were doing that, they would start dumping bodies now and grabbing picks... for example... lets say rondo says I will come to NY, LA and or Houston and I want to sign and trade... Boston is looking for an unprotected pick.. what pick do we have to offer martin?

Knicks are not operating like a team that is looking to build towards the future.. that is what I am saying... and I will also add, the raptors will have just as much cap space if not more, the suns, the Hawks.... we are not alone here.. The difference is, those teams are clear about their intentions...

No it's not Video Game

Cap $60mil in 2014

Luke=MLE/$9milNash
Kobe=$15mil...(since he's 96 yrs old)
Melo=$16mil...(near max)
Zach=$10mil...(older vet signing)
Cosuins=$10mil...(reasonable considering his history)

Ball Park numbers. To be honest Nash probably gets moved to a team like Heat or a strong playoff team to clear all of their cap room. It's only 1 contract to move.

only a knick fan would say and think this.. really, I just beg you for one minute to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is just a NBA fan... I just don't get that.. but hey...if you think that is an attractive core of players to draw FA's then fine... I will continue to say this.. the knicks are by no means looking towards 2015 other than it being another year to milk fans out of money..

I read in an article after the Howard Decision that it was Kobe's "I'll teach you how to be a champion" speech to Howard that made up his mind on where to sign.

Melo is not really a low post player anymore.... he's an elbow arc extended.... to low post player(when needed).....Melo has become more and more and more and more and more and more and more of a jump shooter.

Please tell me how Zach/Gasol has worked. I see Cousins with similar skillsets as Gasol in some cases

Supposedly it's been denied by Howard he didn't say that. He said media overblew the interview process and things that were discussed. We'll never know as leaks happen somehow.

Okay martin I'll reach like you are with Rondo and Love and say the Lakers can sign Zach, Cousins, and Ridnour

Ridnour
Kobe
Melo
Zach
Cousins

Isn't good enough?

and what are their collective cap numbers? Or is this video game NBA?

Also please let me know how Cousins, on a Qualify year, will get to the Lakers.

Cap $60mil in 2014

Luke=MLE/$9milNash
Kobe=$15mil...(since he's 96 yrs old)
Melo=$16mil...(near max)
Zach=$10mil...(older vet signing)
Cosuins=$10mil...(reasonable considering his history)

Ball Park numbers. To be honest Nash probably gets moved to a team like Heat or a strong playoff team to clear all of their cap room. It's only 1 contract to move.

Dude, this is some very embarrassing posting by you, and it's like you are not even trying or doing one iota of investigation or whatnot.

Zach has a player option for $16M in 2014... and you think he will sign for $10M.

Cousins has a qualifying offer in SAC for $7M that year but they will just let him go for free.

Some team is going to trade for a near 41 year old broken down PG making $9.7M?

This is your thought process?

having a gigantic amount of cap space with Love, Rondo, Aldridge come up as free agents doesn't present the opportunity to improve?

Not if we are giving Melo $25MM+ to keep him from going to the Lakers. Because then instead of two lousy contracts for sub par superstar we will have on that's twice the size with no difference in overall cap space. - ok I am exaggerating a bit, but the only way 2015 works to our benefit if Melo and a couple other so called max players agree to sign up for the Miami Heat model.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Gasol was gone if Stern didn't void the Paul deal.
