Now this could be the real reason why we didn't sign him, not the last part of what you said, but he could have demanded the ball more like Kukoc when he took the last shot and Pippen sulked on the bench in dismay when he hit the big shot for Chicago over Anthony Mason.

Mind you i'm not saying he's (Copeland) is as good as Tony Kukoc

That's not quite the same situation though. Phil Jackson gave Kukoc the ball, Kukoc didn't demand it. And besides, I never saw Copeland making any demands.

Nobody has a voice with the coach but Melo, Copeland wouldn't try to make demands.

We are gonna regret not signing this guy he's a New York Knick

“Seriously, Chris was close to going back to New York for whatever amount,’’ his agent, John Spencer, told The Post. “He said to Coach Vogel, ‘I hate you. You guys beat us.’ He was joking a little, but not really.

“He let the emotional side go and made the right business decision for him.’’

“They felt he(COPELAND) ripped their [butt] when he played and had to change their style,’’ Spencer said. “He could put it on the floor and shoot. Donnie Walsh felt Chris was an underrated rebounder. They made Chris feel really good and saw in him stuff that was untapped and not fully utilized.”

This is what I said during the series and many were talking like I was blind or something.

No these coaches and execs saw this too, but we only allow people to come into games by using NYK politics in big games. But as it happened, the Knicks never formally offered Copeland a contract. Perhaps Woodson didn’t want the pressure of fans wanting Copeland, 29, to play more.

It's not a conspiracy it's NYK politics on playing time . Melo might have lost a little bit of the spotlight and the coach and GM had to appease him.

Are we really defending Woodson's coaching in the playoffs? Well I guess if Isiah's GM'ing can be defended here I shouldn't be surprised by this

copeland could have played every single minute of the playoffs vs the pacers and the outcome would have still been the same...

You are delusional we needed more options to break up what they were doing defensively . Their own coach said COPELAND ,“They felt he(COPELAND) ripped their [butt] when he played and they had to change their style,’ not Melo made them change up what they were doing.

TKF, Donnie Walsh who you thought was all-world said "he felt Chris was an underrated rebounder. They made Chris feel really good and saw in him stuff that was untapped and not fully utilized.”

Go back under your rock , you don't even like the kid or the team.

This board is too much. Resigning JR is terrible, Prig's new contract is terrible and now we lose Copeland and it's the end of the world!

Now Copeland turns out to be the difference maker in a series loss?

I'd rather have invested heavy PF mpg in Copeland than Novak. He would have cost us 2 years, 17 mil dollars and 3 draft picks less. If we felt we had to move Novak and those picks, we could have focused on another area of need.

Another guy to defend would have been the difference maker. They knew they only had to worry about Melo and JR sometimes who else ? That's why they won. Their own coach said Copeland ripped their butt when Woodson allowed him in the games. Who will I listen to and believe you or the Pacer coach ???

Knicks European scout Kevin Wilson found a diamond in the rough in the Belgian League. Wilson was the only NBA scout to monitor Copeland that season. Walsh is a big fan of Wilson and knew it was a steal, and now Walsh stole Copeland from the Knicks.

With the Knicks trying to fight off the Pacers in the East, it’s a blow. After beating the Knicks in six games, the Pacers lost to the Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.

“Having Paul George and Danny Granger, Chris can stretch the floor and create space and make them a more dangerous team,’’ Spencer said. “They think he’s a missing piece to going out and winning a championship.’’

Thanks....it is all so clear now. We didn't lose the series because we couldn't hit shots, we didn't lose game 6 because of Felton going 0-7, JR Smith going 4-15. We lost the series because Copeland didn't get more than 20 minutes a game during the series.

Felton and Jr could have penetrated and made the pass to Copeland to make the Pacers defense scramble around. what series did you watch?

Look what happen in gave 5, Reggie Miller didn't understand why the knicks were sitting on Copeland.

Their traditional PF's couldn't deal with him .

Guess he should have played 30 minutes then.

Pacers coach Frank Vogel also thought the Knicks 29-year-old rookie should’ve played more in the second round. Knicks coach Mike Woodson took some heat for not playing Copeland more in the playoffs as he was never a big fan. The former Belgian Leaguer got two third-place votes for Rookie of the Year despite being in Woodson’s doghouse at times.

Copeland played in just three of the six games in the Boston series. He played in all six contests of the Indiana series, but some just in garbage time.

A friend of Copeland’s said last week he would have a tough time playing for the Pacers because they just knocked the Knicks out of the playoffs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gonna take something for Woody to win me over this fall, Copeland was a guy who could score with or with out Melo on the court and Woodson sucked eggs on the decision not to play him more. We should have played Miami period!

Agreed. I still don't think Wolfson would be anywhere without Melo. He is taking the same approach with our team like he did with ATL.

Of course we wouldn't have been anywhere without Melo, but Melo needed help and Woodson denied him help, this is why I bring up role players and their role more. We underutilized what we had to beat the Pacers and that really hurt watching that series.

Whether he starts or not isn't the issue, the NBA is a game of mismathches where you try and make other teams adapt to you and be at a disadvantage.

Copeland told @alanhahn on @ESPNNY98_7FM that "the plan from the start" was to take less $ to stay in NY. #Knicks never made official offer.

Man, I said this was exactly like the Lin thing almost a week ago and I was exactly right. They never even gave him and offer just like Lin. Our GM sucks right now, and it is evident is how many times he gets killed in routine trades.

IMO Copeland was a bit of an unknown last season, which is was why he needed to play more, he really wasn't heavy on any ones scouting report..

Once he gets consistent minutes, he'll no longer get easy looks (see novak, lin, shawne) he won't be nearly as effective as he was this year...you'll see.

This was a pure financial move for copeland, and he's fortunate to signed with another top team, but at the end of the day, he's a terrible fit to that offense, they don't run the PnR as much as we do, and they definitely don't shoot 20 3's pg..

I don't blame him for going for the $, he's 29 and his NBA career is probably 4 maybe 5 yr tops..Take the money, get yourself and your family tight and let a title be 3rd on the list.

This looks like the politics behind the Knicks in appeasing Melo in the Lin situation and now Copeland both role players who did well with the ball in their hands.
