I admit, I got "Storied" wrong. I was under the belief "storied" was a positive descriptor instead of one just steep in history.

My bad.

I am a fan but I don't view my team with rose colored glasses and pretend our franchise is above reproach because we have:

We have Willis in the tunnel.
We have Clyde.
We have Debusschere, Bradley, etc etc.
We have the Ewing Era.
We have two chips.

We HAD Cyle, We HAD, Willis, ETCETC.....

HAD!!!!

I forget, but "storied" is about as past tense as you can get, right? Or is that your point? Or not?

Rockets HAD Hakeem!
Rockets HAD Kenny Smiff!
Bulls HAD MJ!
Everyone HAD Robert Horry!

Let's recap:

You show the Knicks only have two chips and don't measure up to 6 whole other teams in the entire 70 year history of the league.
You mention how "Houston has as many chips in less time"

And what, precisely, are we supposed to derive from this?

1) JR should be able to wipe his azz with the uniform, let alone wear it, because this aint no "storied" franchise!
2) Anyone who thinks differently is actually wet dreaming blue and orange relish onto themselves, while fogging up their rose colored glasses.
3) If you happen to get past #2 above, you're actually a Mooby loving Dolanite minion with no true sense of NBA rationality.
4) Only true fans honestly pee on themselves, while feeling all warm and gooshy about other, truly "storied" franchises.

Lesson learned.

We derive that "storied" has differnet meanings.

Some Hyper-Mooby homers see the knicks with an aura of greatness worthy of the city as the harbinger holding the "Mecca" of the basketball world. One thought JR was not worthy of wearing the uniformed of the "storied" franchise.

Knicks are .500 basketball team who missed the playoffs 37% of the time, and has two chips. While Detroits history has a worse winning % but 3 chips is not that great either, im not on Detroits treads debating if their orginal 6 inclusion and history is worth of the "Storied" label, we talking JR.

We have learned that "Storied" does not mean "positive History" as I thought. We think, we speak, we are corrected, we learn.

Is Jr's standards of integrity and on court consistantcy befitting to be a knick? The legends of Starks, Marbury, Ray Williams (RIP, no disrespect), Nate, Tickey, and Michael Ray all might agree he is in the club.

While I would not go as far as you I'd say the satire is not quite to the intensity I'd go for but we often deliver effective messages thru the use of humor!

BTW, funny Stuff!!!!

All I really want is some nice knick video in HD. Problem is it was not around when such moments occured!

Well, therein lies the problem: stories are told, not enhanced in HD, where you can watch every flop in high res.

Mikan is part of the Laker's "story". The Knicks were right in the middle of that "story".
Petit is part of the Hawk's "story".
Russell is part of the Celtics "story". Even punks like KG can recognize that. Somewhat. Although the great unwashed hordes of today with their love for PER% sabre metic algorythmic nanophysics will try to tell you MJ invented winning.

No HD available for any of those stories.
Like it or not, the Knicks are an "iconic" and "storied" franchise. Icons and stories are required to be old. They haven't changed the logo to the Nike jumpman yet.
HD is now.

For the love of God, try to keep in mind this league now includes Pelicans to compare ourselves to.

And I doubt the commish is stepping in and handpicking a GM because the Wizards are busy pissing on themselves for decades and leaving puke all over the proud franchise memories of Wes Unseld...

Kids these days...

Why look back. The past is gone.
Knicks are what they are now.
Very boring club. Even this forum lost the energy.
We are not bad and not good. We are just... boooooring.

I think the forum lost energy because it is the offseason. The Knicks were bad. Winning the Atlantic for the first time in over a decade good. Winning a playoff series good. Falling apart after game 3 in the Celtic series and never regaining form bad. I think the Knicks have a bright future. Knicks have a pick this year because Walsh had to trade every other first to build his two star unit and last years pick was sent to Houston in the McGrady trade. Hopefully the Knicks have another good draft. The Knicks are good for the first time in a long time. Good teams win 50 games. My expectation for the Knicks next year is to win 50+ games again. Hopefully they put together an incredible run in the playoffs and win it all. No one knows until the games are played but the Knicks go into next season with high expectations.

I Don't see the future with great enthusiasm but at the same time not too worried either. I just don't expect fulfillment after the hype.

When it happens we'll deal with it.

Last season was a pleasant surprise. It was fun!

Can we build on that?

you can always build,

melo has a lot of room for growth so does woody,

jr i think has made it clear that he is satisfied with his station,

tweaks and tunes will be critical,

though i don't think we have capacity to get over the hump,

end of the day, you're winning 50 games year; not the worst thing in the world.

danger is in deluding yourself that this will translate to Second Season success,

I agree this year was great considering the hell we have been through for 13 years. However I wouldnt say we have a bright future. We have an aging team and we still ahve vert small window to win. We had a huge oppurtunity this year IMO but for some reason after game 3 in Boston all our top players basically disappeared
