What would you trade Tyson for?
We need to get an all-star or several very good players in return
Need to at least get a starting calibre big man
Need to get a front-court or back-court starter
Need to at least get a decent bench player (a 7th or 8th man)
Just need a 2nd round pick

Well you thought wrong. I did say he was our best player in the first half of the season but we don't have any superstars. I'd trade him for a younger all-star like George or Hibbert and maybe for multiple good young players like Bledsoe and Jordan.

LOL

I'm confused - doesn't being able to trade Chandler to Indy or LAC for those packages imply Tyson's intrinsic value is quite substantial? Or do you just mean that you would use Tyson's value spread around high quality depth? I thought you meant the former but now I'm thinking you meant the latter

Maybe Chandler was just having a bad few months and he was in poor shape due to the strep throat
It certainly did not help that Woodson still decided to ride with him through out the play offs as the #1 Center, while not giving a chance to anyone else but Martin and then Copeland at game 5 of the Pacer's game

I just don't want to find out if he is just in huge decline because it would give greater incentive for Anthony to leave for nothing or we could get low balled by then if we are off to a horrible start and Tyson still continues to be horrible

There is much more to lose than to gain in my opinion, there simply is not many teams that would be willing to take Chandler's contract that are under the cap

lets add in Durant and Lebron while you are at it, you are talking about unrealistic trades that will get laughed at if even mentioned
You want MAXIMIZE value and it just isn't going to happen

BTW, I would like maximize value as well, but I am a bit more realistic, and if I am playing GM I would start conversations just to feel is there interest in him from other leagues
I am not saying I would just look for 2 2nd round picks, obviously there must be discussions going on in draft night with a couple of different teams IF there is interest in him

And before they make their pick they would need to confirm with us, if they are picking for us
I am saying by the 2nd round, if NO ONE is willing to deal us 1st rounders and Portland is willing to trade a trade exception with 2 first round picks, I would do if if push comes to shove

If they were only giving 2 2nd round picks, they must also take Novak with him, if not I would need more assets with either draft rights back for Pap, and/or 3 2nd round picks *which could include future picks 2nd rounders in the next 2 years* If they still insist NO, I would say no deal then call them back up a few minutes before they start picking and initiate the conversation again, I would try to get as much as I could, and IF 2 2nd round picks is the most I could get, I would still do it *with picks 39,40 only*, not the 45th(if 45th I at least need Pap with it since he already stated he does not want to play in Portland and likely will not go there so less leverage to Portland....

Feel I have to do such moves because overall we have more ways we can improve the roster even though we are not maximizing Chandler's value
Because going under the tax threshold is much more important, with the ability to do sign and trades, do trades WITHOUT matching dollar for dollar, 5m MLE vs 3m MLE, and 2m BAE

I prefer to get something done earlier in any case so I could do a 2nd deal because of the rumor of Dallas clearing cap space and willing to part with pick 13 for it

1- So, IF Portland would agree to to a trade similar to the one I proposed in the other thread,

2- I would call Dallas up right away *with the rumor of pick 13 and Marion for cap space*, and see if they have interest in parting the 13th pick with Marion and whoever else like Carter/Collison and Wright/Kaman *don't think Mayo is realistic but of course I would get him if I could* so they can save money and possibly target 2 maxish FA's

I just saw that also about Dallas. I'm wondering if we can get Vince Carter for QRich's and James White's non-guaranteed deals.

I don't think anyone's going to know for sure until after the season ends and we start getting offseason reports. James White's and Quentin Richardson's contracts change depending on which website you look at and I haven't read anything about Barron's. For now, I'm just going on the assumption that White and Richardson have non-guaranteed deals for next season since that's what's been reported more often than not.

Who reported that about Richardson's contract? I know the nba trade machine has him down with his orl contract. Also, how long is the cap hold if you draft a Euro player to stash him overseas?

I haven't been able to find anything but I remember reading a report that we were considering signing another player instead of QRich but they didn't agree to the non-guaranteed year next season and QRich did. But, I don't think anyone knows for certain what his contract status is for next season. Hell, it took almost the entire season to confirm James White has a non-guaranteed year next season.

That's a good question about cap holds and I don't know the answer. My gut's telling me that it would be 0 but I'll look into it more after work today.

Knicks should think about trading Chandler to Bucks for Monta Ellis and Udoh. This move would allow for a Felton trade for another big man like Kaman. Knicks can take another big or a pg with the pick. I like Monta a lot more than JR it makes signing JR redundant and Monta can play PG. I would love to have an Ellis and Shumpert backcourt. Ellis is the second scorer that Melo needs.

Monta reminds me of a hybrid Starks/Parker type player.

Monta Ellis would have to opt-in to his contract for next season. If he opts out he would have to be sign-and-traded to us which we can't do because we're too far over the cap.

A bag of peanuts and a washing machine. Any GM around the league that would trade an all-star caliber player for Tyson Chandler should be immediately dismissed.

Can't do that. Both teams are over the cap so we'd need to match salaries.

We would have to take back that awful Perkins contract which im sure OKC would be more then happy to dump in are laps.
