I like Crabbe. I'd like to see us come up with our own Jimmy Butler-type somewhere. That kid's a real nice player for the Bulls.

Crabbe has good offensive abilities that would compliment the Knicks so well. The ability to catch n shoot, come off of sceens, and finish around the basket is awesome. On top of that he has size and length to guard the 2/3. I could see him as a Butler/ Klay Thompson.

It's a good call. Dude's a fine player. But they way I wanna see us go about it -- I wouldn't necessarily go after Crabbe at 24 if knew I could sign Jamelle Horne to a contract for peanuts. I'd secure Horne then use the draft pick for something else -- a different type of guard, a big, or what have you...Crabbe & Horne are close ability wise -- Horne's 6'7" 215, maybe not as good coming off screens and curls (don't really remember Horne playing like that -- he was more of a spot up shooter, put it on the floor and attack the rim and a hit the offensive glass guy) but the size/athleticism (Horne slight edge) and other elements are similar. I actually always thought Horne was a good willing defender too.

Solomon Hill's another 2/3 wing we should keep an eye on that's similar to these two -- not the shooter off screens Crabbe is and maybe not as athletic as either Crabbe or Horne but probably stronger than either Crabbe/Horne and fully capable offensively.

if the Knicks do not make a major trade I could see them picking up okc's pick. See I want a guy that can come off of screens and hand offs to create more movement in the offense.

... Knicks do not make a major trade...
That seems unlikely.

...picking up okc's pick...
I think that's the most likely interpretation of "we will have to be creative this year".

He was signed as an UDFA last Summer so his contract probably has either a team option for next season or he has a qualifying offer which would make him a RFA.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

he has a qualifying option and I suspect if they get Howard and trade Asik the smart thing to do would be to sign Smith.

Greg Smith would be a nice player on this team
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

It wont be easy to trade Asik with that massive balloon payment. If they cant do it the salary cap hit would likely be tens of millions.

@finestrg...do you live in pac10 conuntry?arizona? solomon hill and jamelle horne are ok role players - at the college level. i doubt theyll have an impact in the pros..i do agree with you that crabbe is a will be a solid player...an athletic wing who can shoot

Nope, live here on LI. Just really liked the Arizona team from a few years ago -- Jordan Hill, Budinger, Horne, Nic Wise, Kyle Fogg...Solomon Hill was a Sean Miller recruit; a guy who almost immediately cut into Horne's PT as a senior upon arrival. Hill was Miller's guy; Horne was a leftover. Too bad Horne wasn't given a bigger role his senior year. The athletic ability and talent was definitely there for much more. Still is...I still find him very intriguing. Just don't feel he was every utilized to the fullest.

They're not identical players (again, Horne didn't show Crabbe's Rip Hamilton ability to shoot off screens, that's true) but there are definitely some similarities between Horne and Crabbe, some elements where Horne actually holds an edge I feel. And I firmly believe Horne and Solomon Hill can play at the NBA level. Hill has a lot of ability -- I see some Michael Finley/DaJuan Summers (another guy that has enough talent to be in the NBA) but the player he most closely resembles (on the offensive end at least) is Ron Artest. Artest has always been known for his defense first and foremost, but he's actually always been quite talented on the other end as well. That's Solomon Hill. I've read that assessment recently and concur. He's Ron Artest offensively, which is good value for a 2nd round pick.

After the way this team performed defensively against Indiana, Woodson should no longer be considered a defensive guru.
