I've never seen a player rise and drop in value so much so fast. This is why we will never win a championship by the way--were going all out to sign a guy who helped lose the playoffs for us. I've heard of giving a friend or a sibling a scholarship in college--this is likely the first time a brother who does not deserve to be on this roster--who seem slike a lowlife--is going to be on the team simply to get JR more. What a F slimy deal.

J.R. already collected 2 paychecks this yr and looks like he'll continue doing so....this is so disgusting....really it is.

NEPOTISM FINEST!!!!

Happens more than you think- not so much signing family members, but teams have signed players just because they're friends with another player they're trying to appease.

Bottom line is, if you don't re-sign JR, you'd then have to replace him AND upgrade the team with only $3mil MMLE and veteran minimum contracts. Good luck with that!

Come on. JR is not the reason we lost to the Pacers. Sheed Wallace, Camby, Amare,Thomas, and a sick Tyson Chandler is the reason why we lost. We had no bigs. They were dead man walking. If they were healthy we would have won hands down.

This is the biggest joke post of all-time.

Lol at the nepotism finest line, it's not a new thing in the NBA.

The Pacers have 2 brothers too. Ben Hansbrough was overseas, and Indy did Psycho T a solid by signing his scrub brother.

Agreed...I don't even want JR anymore after this whole debacle -- you think I want his kid brother who's not even NBA material too, hoggin' up a valuable roster spot we need to retool with?? If the Knicks did this up right, they should've told JR look, you go out and earn it and take us deep into the playoffs (at least to the ECF), then we'll talk about this. Otherwise, it's not even a consideration...

Ben's not a scrub -- he's actually a good player. Big East player of the year...Chris Smith can't play a lick.

He's an end of bench player, he's listed a point guard, but really just a break open in case of emergency situation.

Exactly.......he can be a pain in the ass, But when focused can carry this team for a month.

And even if there was a 5 million dollar player we couldnt sign them anyway with no cap room and unable to use the high MLE. Letting JR go getting nothing back would be stupid not as stupid as getting nothing for Lin but still stupid

Cant wait till he officially signs.

he is great. Perfect player next to Melo. Really good in the regular season and totally tanks when it counts the most.

Lets build a team with these two guys taking the most shots and wonder why the team fails every postseason:
JR smith: .426 career FG% .387 playoffs
Carmelo: .456 career FG% .417 playoffs (.404 as a Knick)

Guys like to harp on this or that but when Jamal Crawford was here people killed his shot selection. When JR and Melo brick away at the same pissy rate it poor coaching, poor PG play, bla bla bla... I dont get this fan base.

Who is else is going to shoot the ball u act like they have so many great players that arent being utilized. Why is Carmelo or Jr going to kick out to the perimeter when Jason Kidd stands there double clutching his shot. Chandler? Kenyon Martin? Amare who isnt healthy? The best players in the series besides Melo didnt get enough minutes Prigs and Copeland. Shumpert played well but he is a flawed player as well. Dont give me Novak either he is terrible.

The Knicks are simply not talented enough and its going to get worse with Rose,Rando coming back. The Pacers have Grainger to. Most likely the Knicks are a 5 or 6 seed next season
