Strength is important

BUT

NOT AT THE COST OF SPEED/MOBILITY/ATHLETICISM especially since he does not have good foot work plus post moves to go with it, and those are things that are developed with many years of training

Just look at Jermaine Oneil, a player that NEVER had good size

Look at Bryant when bulked up

Look at MWP as he is HUGE but slow as a turtle, not known to be a even solid defender the past couple of years
Yet he was known as a TOP NBA VERSATILE defender when he was much more mobile

It is why Lebron is pretty impossible to defend with his size, strength, he has the speed/athleticism and ALL ROUND SKILLS to go with it

With the philosophy of Woodson, the C must be able to cover his own man and be able to help out his team, especially with 2 PG's and Melo at PF, he cannot do this if he gets slower
While I agree he must gain back some weight because he loss 15 pounds with the strep throat, he needs to gain strength, quick, mobile, and athletic
It just is not happening if he is going to get bigger and slower with more weight less reps
Less weight and more reps, working on balance, his core, better hands, jumping ability on 1st and 2nd jumps, body control to finish around the basket with contract, better anticipation on both ends

I refuse to believe that's Tyson Chandler.

It's amazing what a few pounds loss can do to one's athleticism lol. If anything, isn't weight loss supposed to make you more mobile???

I know there was one game where Melo and some other scorers were out and Tyson showed some moves. I remember he started the game off with a very nice low post fade-away. I think he hit a couple of jump shots too. I was trying to find those highlights but couldn't. I'd like to see him work on his offensive game AND be free to utilize his offensive skills next season even when Melo is healthy. When healthy, he was averaging about 14 points per 36 min and I think he can come back next season and bump that up to 18 points per 36.

At this point in his career Chandler's game is what it is. I sense a down turn in his career he was atrocious in the Playoffs. Missing layups, dunks. It's time to make a move while his value is still decent.

I think that was the Sac game. I believe Tyson has it in him but he just doesn't do it. Compare that to Csmby who came in and would attack off the dribble from the high post and would shoot the J. He was more aggressive with less skills imho. I think the real problem is his lack of post games that hurts possessions. He shies away from posting guards or sealing his man when he has deep position on the block as the ball swings. I really think scott skiles messed his head up and stunted his game.

And who are those guys in the white masquerading as an NBA defense? I like how they maintained their defensive spacing perfectly.

Yes, Tyson spin moves in the lane against matador defenses will put us well on the way to getting us a chip. SMH.

As stated at the top of the thread, Tyson needs to take Amare's slot at the on-site, in person DreamShake Institute for the Offensively Challenged. Maybe Hakeem gives out coupons for buy one get one free!

Make it happen, Woody!

I think you're right. He led the Knicks with 21 pts in that game. I can't find any highlights though.
