First Karl(undeservedly) now Ujiri(undeservedly).

Where's the Grunwald love? All Ujiri did was trade for Iguodala and draft Fournier.
Glenn Grunwald did the following this season:
-Extend Mike Woodson
-Made the tough decision to pass on Jeremy Lin, and sign Ray Felton
-Sign Jason Kidd, veteran of veterans
-Re-sign JR Smith, 6th Man of the Year
-Sign Pablo Prigioni, starting point guard
-Re-sign Steve Novak, floor spacer
-Sign K-Mart, integral paint defender
-Sign Rasheed Wallace, 3 to the dome originated here
-Sign bench gem, Chris Copeland
-Sign Ronnie Brewer, low cost Shumpert insurance for a couple months
-Sign Kurt Thomas, who probably saved the season
-Hired Dave Hopla, shooting coach that helped the team smash 3 pt records
I'm sure there's more but there really is no comparison.
You think the knicks are the only team don't you?
Denver won 57 games. In some circles (the majority of the world) consider the 82 game season a large sample in which awards are given. Denver won 57 games without a closer, a star, and he rebuilt the franchise off the trade of Melo.
That just fries your azz don't it?
Really no comparison? Well if you looked at other things then thru the orange and blue tinted glasses you'll see why.
Is it subjective? Of course. Was Grunny a viable candidate and in the discussion? I would think so.
If regular season don't matter, then 2 seed and first place don't either for you?
The Brooklyn Team is thataway!
Just messing with you.
Tell me whatever moves Ujiri did besides Iguodala and Fournier and I'll stand up and give him props.
Hint, you can't say Faried, Brewer, or Miller, they were on the team last season.
My guess was Billy King was in the discussion also!!!! They sucked last year and won 49 games! More than Golden State!!
To answer your question:
They play 82 games, they won 57.
Do I think they should wait until the playoffs are done and then votes on COY or Exec of the year? Yeah, but they don't. So given those parameters I can see why they gave it.
57 wins, and all that goes into getting to that.
What they don't do is list the parameters by which they vote on do they? If not, its subjective. Therefore I can't totally respond why he gets it and Grunny don't other than 57 wins without a star player.
If wins are it, then Riles should get it.
i think i get what you mean by "subjective." seems to me, as someone has already alluded to, that a coach of the year is based on how a team does that particular season. with a g.m. there may be an understanding, among his peers who do the voting, of a certain kind of lag time of more than one season. this presumes a certain kind of plan that extends beyond the short term of one season to a medium term of 2 seasons or more. after all when you are building according to a plan and that plan yields immediate results beyond expectations-- this is denver's case-- then ujiri deserves it more than any other gm.
that's the only way i can interpret the results, and yes, they remain quite subjective.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
