Do you not realize Melo and company are having a hard time because we aren't getting good PG play? Felton is looking to get his shot off INSTEAD of setting guys up.

Felton gets to pick his spots since he has the ball in his hands on most plays. Kidd and Prigioni are too old for the Pacer guards.

really??

Yeah, I don't get that post either. Felton has been great. No fault whatsoever on him. He is really being everything that everyone said he wasn't.

We are getting the shots. Melo, Jr and Kidd are just missing them. It's that simple.

It's the quality of the shots for Melo.

Melo's poor shot selection predates Felton by about 10 years.

Now I support Melo, just as I do EVERYONE on the Knicks, but this is false. Felton is playing smart, doing what a PG is suppose to do. He's penetrating - taking the shot when the lane is open and passing when players collapse. Jr and Melo are getting open 3s and just missing, although I believe that ended last night. I expect for both to improve Tuesday from what I've witnessed.

Another problem, is that Melo is bringing the ball up himself or when he receives a psss, he's holding it too long, trying to get position instead of going quick like he was in April.

We just disagree. I love what Felton is doing, he's controlling the game. After watching some film, Melo will be fine though.

The only superstars that consistently shoot 50% percent or better are Dwight Howard, KD, Lebron...high 40's on a consistent basis is more reasonable. By your logic there are only three stars, but maybe you meant it that way.

KD is a creer 47% shooter. he did however shoot 50.2% this year or something like that. But to whoever said Kobe isnt a superstar is just ludicrous. Hes probably a top ten player of all time

Kobe isnt a superstar then?

I knew this was coming find the one player that shoots under 50% who has won rings. He also had a stacked team to work with with a legendary coach calling the shots. Let's face it Kobe on a crappy team I wonder if his label would fall into Melo status. KOBE SHOOTS AROUND 46% you can bet he will at least hover around that 45-46% range on a nightly basis. Kobe after a bad game usually follows it up with a stellar game. That is something Melo doesn't do comeback with focus and determination to have a better effort and game.

35-110 = 32% shooting over his last 4 game in the playoffs. 38% over all.

When I would talk about Carmelo's poor playoff shooting %s the most constructive retorts I would get would be things like hater and MDA apologist.

Well how do you deny this? How do you build a team thats supposed to contend around a guy who chucks like this? When you see the volumes off poor shots he's putting up in these playoffs you can see pretty easily how his career 41% shooting and terrible post season record do go hand in hand after all.

Maybe we could get away with this against the Nets with no Rondo and Pierce shooting worth of crap. This wont work against the Pacers.

Knicks should win a couple games but this has Pacers in 6 written all over it. Hoping Im wrong, but hard to see us advancing built like this.

Melo has been playing like trash and the Knicks won't be successful this series if this keeps up. It is really that simple.

Meh, I think people get way too caught up in fg%. I don't think 50% fg is the barometer for whether a player is a superstar or not.

I'd say we'd all agree that Melo needs to shoot and play better though. If he just shoots his typical 45% or so the Knicks win this series.

Wade cant shoot and plays with Bosh and Lebron.

Wade can afford to not take shots. The Heat win without him even playing.

Yea. Please watch the game and see where Melo is getting the ball.

I did. He gets it. Pounds it. Pounds it. Pounds it. Pounds it. 8... 7... 6... times to drive. Defenders collapse into the paint.. 4... 3... 2... force up the shot.

Go watch the game. Thats that what happening.

One thing... I will not question MElo's effort. Dude is leaving it all on the floor which is why I have some hope still for this series. The effort is there. But like Bip said, time an time again he threw himself against the wall which Hibbert was and was crying he wasnt getting the calls against one of the best shot blockers in the game.

As for Kobe... PLEASE let it go. This is the first time Melo was able to outplay Paul Pierce to win a playoff series. Supporting cast? When Melo starts picking up the all NBA first team defense awards year after year after year he wont hear a peeep from anyone about his FG%. But he's not a defensive player. He's a scorer is finally playing some defense. And right now his scoring sucks and Knicks have lost 3 of the last 4 playoff games for no other glaring reason than they have a guy taking 27.5 shots a game during that stretch and hitting 32% of them.

So far I have heard poor coaching and poor PG play. I believe someone left out MDA's lingering coaching still a negative factor?

Why is this even an argument? WE ALL KNOW that this team was winning when they moved the ball and took good shots. This isn't rocket science and the key to playing well is self evident. When this team gets ball and player movement they win. All they have to do is look at the film of their wins over the Pacers and they'll see that we don't win with ISO MELO or ISO JR for long stretches. The good Knicks ball starts with more ball movement, NOT LESS!!! Woody, Melo and JR are to blame for this. You can't forget who youare as a team from qtr to qtr or game to game. It's up to those 3 to make sure the team sticks to the game plan. So far once the ball gets into Melo or JR's hands it's ISO HELL. That's Woody's job to put a stop to that nonsense if he sees it.

Wade shot around 50% from the field prior to Bosh and LeBron coming to Miami.

Silly thread....Summary of this thread..Let's ignore that after MDA's woeful coaching stint, Melo led this franchise to a record of 72-34 winning the division in how many years, while Amare has been doing what exactly!!!...Also, Lets ignore that Boston has owned our arses, while Paul Pierces of the world romp and mocked us on the Garden floor, for the last decade...Now folks, ignore all that and lets focus on the last 4 games...Can anything be more outrageous and pathetic??...Really guys??..Is this the best you can do???

Well, That's funny considering Wade had 4 consecutive games where he shot under 40% last year in the playoffs, and totaling 9 under 42% .. And yet he kept shooting.

Wade was in a slump in the semi-conference finals ... didn't stop shooting, and eventually put together a few efficient games

7-19 36%
8-23 34%
8-22 36%
2-13 %15

Same during the Boston series
9-20 45%
7-22 31%
10-22 %45
6-17 %35
8-17 %47
7-22 %31

This year
5-12 %41
8-14 %57
1-12 %083

He didn't stop shooting none whatsoever when his shot wasn't falling. That's exactly why Melo is still shooting. Only way out of a slump is to shoot your way out of it and then put together a few great games. If we're honest, Wade has a lot of shooting nights like this, just backs it up with shooting 60 - 70% some nights which gives his overall a really great boost.

Wade's entirely right. It's clear he tries to play by that philosophy. I don't see why you're selecting individual games where he shot poorly. I'm sure if you asked him, he'd acknowledge that his shot selection is not outstanding in 100% of the games.
