In the meantime feel free to discuss more relevant issues. Like why did we let Lin walk for Raymond Bernard Felton, Jr.

Because he signed a contract with a poison pill third year. The Knicks kept their best free agent in smith and he seems like he is ready to be the second star to melo.

+1. It would be good to have a thread like this once a year - right after each post-season.

Papabear Says

I have no problem with that. like I said before in other posts. Melo and Lin would not have worked. Lin had to go. There can be only one Alpha dog and thats Melo. The Press made Lin like a God Like here and was not in the league that long and deep down inside Melo I beleive had a problem with it. The press and people on this board was making Lin bigger than Melo. Especially the Melo haters. I like what Felton is doing now and Lin isn't doing too well in Houston. This worked out well for Lin and Melo. Melo knows he is the king of New York now. Let's see what he does with it.

I like how you guys are starting to twist this thread into guys who had nothing to do with the poll question.

Let's just say we have two guys that are dominating the headlines (MELO & J.R) as the games start to mean more. People who know me understand I said Denver will be lost in the playoffs at crunch time because they have no go to guy who will get them over the hump.

THIS WAS STATED BY ME BEFORE GALLUP UNFORTUNATE INJURY. Lets stay on topic and take that other players talk to the thread it belongs.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Look i liked the trade but saying that guys like gallo and chandlers arent good is not true. both guys are very solid players. Their only issues are injury related

They are both solid no doubt. But that says it all. We traded two players for Melo that are just solid, among other throw-in assets. At this point most would say jr smith is better than both too.

It's not clear who does and who doesn't have to do with the poll question. I believe if we'd used our cap space wisely, kept our young players, and piled up assets we could have beaten Houston's offer for Harden. But when we did this trade, we lost any chance to get him.

Because it's easier to be miserable.

Each team received exactly what they wanted, both are doing well, yet all the "what if" scenarios still pop up.

But that's not good enough, it never is with Knicks fans.

If Melo got hurt and done for the season then how would the poll be?

Took two seasons to "Win Now!"

Took two seasons to win first place. Took Celtics to crumble for that to happen.

Looks like Denver doing pretty good from the trade too!

This is how we do it in NY so the price Dolan paid was his to pay.

Gallo got hurt and that might inhibit Denvers playoff run.

Lets win a series or two before we

Denver threads annoy me because i am not and never was a gallo fan. He reminds me too much of a Dantoni era I rather just forget

Melo did get hurt and bounced back, J R Smith has been the Knicks IRONMAN hasn't missed one game.

Let's just say if some want to try and call it a win win situation, I will go on record and say the tie breaker goes to the team who's players play when it counts the most ! We(NY) wins !

What does that mean? We've gone 1-8 in the playoffs. I know injuries. Right. The point is you can't with a straight face say things like "We have an awesome closer, clutch player, true playoff hero, etc"

When have we flirted with 50 wins in that 1-8 playoff stretch , this team will Melo is destined to knock somebody out.

And if that happens, THEN you can build a slight case that we have a closer, etc., although winning one playoff series really doesn't make you a great closer, proven playoff performer, etc.
This is like a fat guy saying he's in great shape because he bought a treadmill and weight set. No, you gotta consistently work out hard first and then you get to praise yourself.

Naw I see it like the fat guy saying he's in great shape because all winter (reg season) he's been doing work on the treadmill with weights and the 2nd season is the summer when he can wear the tank tops and flex etc...

That doesn't work though. You're bragging about us having a proven player closer, clutch player, etc. You're bragging about something that hasn't happened.
We have set up the conditions to make it possible to have a playoff run (just like the fat guy purchased the equipment).

I believe we can peak with 1 or 2 playoff series wins unless something very improbable happens (like a terrible injury to Lebron). You can call that a homer, hater, believer, doom and gloomer or whatever.

So Melo winning a chip in college, transforming the Nuggets from sad sack losers into a perennial playoff team & taking them to the WCF in 2008/09 doesn't really count in the Winner/Closer ledger does it??? You %$@)(*^ people and your revisionist history astound me.

No, perennial 1st round playoff exits don't and success in college almost by definition do not make someone a proven playoff performer. It looks desperate to have to go back ten years - when he was playing against amateurs rather than professional players - to cite a meaningful team accomplishment.
