I just want to focus on this year now that I believe we have serious possibilities to win it all. BUT for the sake of discussion--JR Smith is worth much closer to 10mm than 5mm. During the 12 game winning steak he is avg 23.6 points 6.2 rebounds 3 assists and shooting 52%--this is about the time he changed his game. There are a LOT of teams who would love to have a shooting guard with those numbers and there are several max players who dont have that kind of output. To honestly believe JR Smithis going to take 5mm and not get offered upwards of 100mm or now more--is ludicrous. He is going to get heavily paid and kudos to JR he has earned it.

JR Smith isnt getting 10 million per. His main problem is he inconsistent. He will get a deal similar to Michael Beasely.

JR Smith on a bad team would be terrible. JR Smith is an ideal 6th man on a good team.

Copeland isnt getting some huge offer from teams. The guy will get a minimum deal.

I disagree on both parts, JR Smith has grown/matured much this year, and now can START on many good teams
He is no longer just a scorer/6th man role like Crawford type that he was in the past, he has expanded all area's of his game from penetration, DEF, facilitating, rebounding, and is still not reached his "prime"

With Eric Gordon getting a max deal coming of his rookie contract and injury, I think Smith is just much better
So if Gordon can get a deal paying him 12-15m at a multi year deal, I think teams will pay Smith a 2 year deal in the range of 10 per year
Smith is similar to OJ Mayo in terms of OFFENSE
but he is much more complete and better on DEF

comparable players are Rudy Gay, Paul George, Iggy *he might not have the size/length/potential of George/Gay but he is up there in terms of athleticism* OJ Mayo

Copeland can range anywhere from 2-5m area, while I think it will be closer to 2-3m, I think it is very reasonable for a stretch 5, that can play PF, and a little small SF
With Danny Green making about 4.5m a year, I can totally see San Antoni making a reasonable offer of 2-3m per year
It is very reasonable, he reminds of Kleiza but with more skill, and SA can hide his defense inabilities while utilizing/fit his skills/ability to stretch the floor with ball movement/penetration/player movement/high IQ players/post option/ and TEAM WORK

He is not just a 3point shooter, he also has mid range/off the dribble, decent post game, good handle *that can take it to the rim if you try to defend his shot at PF/C*, and good IQ... know's how to play OFF THE BALL/uses his ability to earn a step for his team or wide open shot
He can play as a bench's #1 option or a 2/3 option, or be that guy just to space the floor

If he plays like he has--if he continues to do this--hes getting a 10mm+ offer. Im not going to argue about it--lets sit back and see what happens

And Kenyon Martin should be in the 2.5-4.5m range, is very reasonable as well
Then again, as efficient as he was, it is still a small sample size of games, in addition to his age/healthy/injuries concern
In terms of how well he was playing, he looked like it was still a high level of play and should get a contract to what Mahimi was able to get

Hickson is probably the one only FA that is better than Martin because of his age/potential and David West is another veteran

I hope we can keep JR, Martin, and Copeland as a stretch 5 and PF
However, if Woodson is going to barely play Copeland and rather play vets, it would probably be better for both sides to part ways
Keeping JR and Martin should be our #1 priorities while keeping our mini MLE for another position, it would keep us contenders for next 2 years

JR Smith is a dam fool. Woodson has managed to harness him properly. Dude has been in the league almost a decade now.

JR Smith at 2.5 million is GREAT value. JR Smith at 10 million per is a BAD deal.

JR Smith is a modern day Ricky Davis. JR has too many mental lapses at the end of games.

I think the boras hypotheticals are too much right now. It's easy to talk about a perfect situation, but who is this mystery team with the 100 million dollar contract, which is a max contract since JR can only get 4 years as an FA.........I highly doubt anybody would offer him that.

You have 5 bad teams with money, 2-4 good teams that need to replace players or blow their 10ish million dollar cap space on jrh, the Hawks, Rockets and Spurs. The Rockets are a Moneyball run team, doubt they go after JR, the spurs aren't known to throw money around. Duncans made over 20million in a year, but Parker and Manu have had 12 million be the most they have signed for in a season.

And then there is the Hawks.

Not worried about most of those teams breaking the bank for JR.

That's great for Cope and for the team. IMHO, he will continue to improve as he becomes more confident.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
