since dolan has taken over he has driven the knicks into irrelevance. stern gave the knicks fans a break when he interceded on our behalf and forced dolan to bring in a competent man to clean up dolan and thomas's mess. we all waited for two entire years as we saw, for the first time in memory, the team being torn down so that it had a genuine shot at being built from the ground up and the right way.

after those two seasons, we the fans had every right to expect that money would be spent on a franchise player, or if not an outright franchise player, at least a big name. that turned out to be stoudemire. lebron led everyone on and we had to act and walsh did. to not acquire a big name would have been impossible. it would have been brave but it was simply untenable.

the knicks were headed for the playoffs in 2010-2011. at 28-26 they also had a ton of money and they had the nuggets over a barrel. they could have gone 9-19 the rest of the season and they still would have made the playoffs and yes would also have been eliminated in the playoffs.

then this season we would still be growing, while remaining a younger team. there would be no pressure or expectation to win now. instaed of youth and energy the knicks are the all-viagra team.

you can't go from roster flush to win-now in the nba without collusion. but the blithe dolan doesn't care about that-- and neither does melo. this comment he made befored the game last night of two to three years of getting his feet wet is total bs. what a crock. shameless!

the knicks are spiraling into irrelevance again. no offense but this was a fool's gold team as of february 2011.

you're upset but make sure you direct your upset in the right direction.

excellent post dk and let me add this, one of walsh strengths and sometimes, sometimes his weakness was patience... We needed that patience.. we needed to stay the course.. we were on a good course, one in which left flexibility in out future... for example.. the amnesty rule.. had we kept the team in tact, kept making good draft picks, smart trades, had amare's health still diminished he would be a prime candidate for the amnesty rule right about now.. don't ya think?

I completely agree. It's gotten real bad on this forum. I agree that people would rather the Knicks lose with Melo just to say I told you so.

this place used to be great then the stat humpers and Knuggets fans/Lin-o-philes crawled out from under their rocks. I guess they got used to bashing the team during the bad times, and now they haven't adapted their shtick

Then why stay? I don't want you to leave but I just never understood it when people started threads complaining about the forum. There are so many different forums out there you could choose from. It's like a millionaire who complains about how bad his car is rather than just buying a new one.

Great question

all I can say is you can't see the point of this because everyone is complaining about the posters in your 'political' camp

I guess the best repsonse I can come up with is I can't see the point of you complaining about people complaining about the increasingly deteriorating quality of the board

I agree, some act as if the neighbors wife who 8-10 yrs younger than his own wife is better to give compliments too. Get a divorce, your wife gave you children and takes care of them, but you yearn for something younger that doesn't have a guarantee to handle pressure when it arises.

Go and root for the rockets and nuggets you can show those fans how much you love those teams.

Not needed here nuff said !

why can't your neighbors wife look attractive, yet you still love your wife and kids? the great thing about sports and being a fan, it is like being in an African country where you can have many wives.. one wife may be a great cook, the other a great person to converse with, yet they all serve a purpose.. but you have that main wife, the one that lives in your house.. and when she is showing you that she doesn't have your best interest at heart then maybe you need to go visit your other wives for a minute, until your main wife can get it together....

So yes, I go to the nuggets board, the rockets board, the warriors board, I watch the nets sometimes, the Hawks, doesn't mean I hate the knicks, or need a divorce..... I am a NBA fan, but over the past few years, I have realized that this team, doesn't seem to care much about me" the fan" as I do about it. So now I diversify my time, and money...It is my right to do so, and doesn't make me any less of a fan.. if anything It has made me more objective when it comes to evaluating this team..

This forum has been great for 12 years. It's the so-called fans who drive it down trying to prove Melo is a grabage player and we were a better team with Gallo etc. It's the ones who try to prove a point every time. Not the real fans. We have a lot of Nuggets fans on this board, we will put it that way. General negative talk is fine and needs to be there. But there is a major divide here with true fans and Melo-hating fans.

I respectfully challenge you to find any post where the so called haters, including and especially myself are trying to prove melo is garbage... where we or I said he was garbage.. or that maybe, he isn't the guy you make this kind of trade for and build around? If you are honest, you will just admit that some of us hated the trade because we didn't feel carmelo was that kind of player at all....and on top of that has shown a history of being a selfish player... that doesn't make him garbage, just not the right kind of guy to disrupt what walsh was doing here.. why make such a post in which you know deep down is just not true?

and BTW, I am one of those who has been here 12 years....

Melo today is yesterday.

They both represented challenges to a Knicks' fan's philosophy about how the game should be played, and sparked a lot of heated conversation. They both came here heavy with accolades and light on postseason accomplishments. It's human nature that people want to see their philosophy or point of view supported rather than debunked. And if I've been called names over and over only to have my point of view eventually validated, not saying "I told you so" would be virtuous. Sports fan boards ain't exactly a great home for virtue, are they? We credit someone who is willing to admit when they are wrong, because it is not an easy thing to do.

That said, it ain't over 'til it's over, folks.

And the only other teams I am a fan of are the Mets and the Trinidad & Tobago national soccer team. The Knicks are my bright spot!

A car can be great for 12 years too. If it's not doing what the millionaire wants it to do for him, he gets a new one. I think this forum is very good but it's obviously not doing for you what you want it to.

Bad analogy and you aren't making it better. How about if the car is your baby, you take care of it, you cherish it, you wax it and you show it off to all your friends. Then one day, after 12 years you realize that someone put sugar in your gas tank and puked all over the interior that you used to love so much. Buy a new car you say ? Easier said than done.

Too much "real fan" purity tests for my taste, if you ask me. Reminds me of when people question if you are a "real American" in political debates.

Why not start from the point that everyone here is in their heart of hearts is a real fan? We just have different personalities and opinions. Then if you find yourself under a bridge, maybe you are talking to a troll?

Also, I'm sorry, but I've never been a fan purely of the uniform. That's why I like the NBA vs the NCAA, because I like to follow personalities over the course of a decade. So watching Nate get ill in a Bulls uniform (not playing the Knicks of course, don't get it twisted), I'll admit: I'm still rooting for him a little. Because he brought me joy (and pain) in some fairly unremarkable times.

And if the uniform says "Once a Knick, Always a Knick", why all the "Knuggets" and "go find a Rockets" board talk? Seems petty to me.

Its really not that hard to figure out. This team is not much better than the Mcdyess and marbury teams at the core. All those teams shared a common thread. Often injured capped out stars. Dice h20 and curry

nice set of posts... of all the pro sports teams i like, the knicks are the only ones to not win a title in my lifetime. yet like anyone else over the past 10+, we are still around, hoping for better. some may voice it diff than folks may like...

you could afford to be a just a touch more charitable. my post was not in the least mean spirited but you insist on taking it that way.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Well said no need to apoligize for your opinion. You are always respectful even when others lash at you with personal insults. I dont think you are the problem with this forum as some have suggested. The problem is with those who are trying to force their opinions on others in a confrontational manner

There is a difference between being negative and realistic. I think its unfair of you to criticize fans. Fans have every right ot be upset. Fopr 13 year we have won 1 playoff game. That is p[retty sad. We all love the Knicks BUT we arent afraid to be critical of the team. You seem to belive that being critical means that you arent a real fan. Thats not right

Exactly you nailed the root of the problem. These are people mostly newer posters telling older posters whove been here for over a decade to go post on a frickin nuggets board in a confrontational manner

I completely agree. It's gotten real bad on this forum. I agree that people would rather the Knicks lose with Melo just to say I told you so.

Then why stay? I don't want you to leave but I just never understood it when people started threads complaining about the forum. There are so many different forums out there you could choose from. It's like a millionaire who complains about how bad his car is rather than just buying a new one.

I guess when you post stuff like....

Honestly I don't know what some people expect,

I'm not even going to touch on the absurdity of complaining about what other people want to talk about,

but as far as the team, what do you want, you want everyone to be happy with this?

how long are you gonna keep saying that we're second in the east? i'll tell you: not for long, because this team is freefalling down the table,

as far as expectations, this is new york, it's one of the Big Three cities, the other Two win championships regularly, the Knicks don't,

I don't know what feeds your delusions,
