Tyson represent what left out of all this in today’s NBA - finesse, arrogance, one-sided skills.
Players like Patrick are hard to come by. Bbal Dinosaurs.

Ewing was a terrible passer (or just hated to do it)

Who was he passing it to? Knicks didn't have players like Amare and Melo.

Checketts admitted his biggest regret in 94 was not getting Ewing that Robin

You can make the same case for Melo in many ways. Its a bad argument (most of the time).

They both should have been better passers but have the mind set that not many shots are better than theirs.

it is not a bad idea, because Josh Smith mobility/shot blocking would allow us to play much better DEFENSE and actually get fast break points with him finishing or grabbing the
rebounding
Our transition game will greatly improve with JR Smith, Josh Smith, Melo, Amare, Felton, and even Kidd pushing the ball when he gets his opportunity to anticipate it with our added speed

However, I think only way Atlanta would do this is if we include Iman, while getting back a player like Stevenson or Korver, and I want a 1st round pick as well
The gamble would be for JO leaving Sun's medical staff

For the road we chose, when we did not match Lin's contract, give up all the asset's we did to acquire Melo, and then getting so many over the hill players...
But we are built to win this year, no iffs, ors, and buts, this is the road we chose, and there is no turning back

So we trade the DPOY to get better defensively?

WOW! However, it may actually be true which is kind of comical.

I can't stand Josh smith and his shot selection. We have enough of those.

for the philosophy that Woodson likes to impliment on the games and our current roster, I believe so, yes, our DEF would improve

were are lacking speed/quickness/mobility that can rotate and recover when they cheat

also it is Josh Smith/JO/Amare with whoever else returns from our aged bigs that replaces Chandler's production

I am still not sure why Tyson is in "coasting"ode this year, MElo rubbing off on him?
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Yeah - probably Melo's fault.

Or just maybe ... Tyson was way overrated by this fan base.

Maybe "coasting mode" is all sorts of record setting, just to present a counter argument. That's what Tyson has been doing this season. Together with the flu, of course

Watching Miami obliterate Oklahoma. The center position means nothing to Miami---Chris Bosh is too mobile and they play too fast. Josh Smith would be much more effective than Tyson Chandler against this team.

I don't think that Josh Smith is the right guy but there is a reason why Tyson was barely used in the olympics.

Actually, it's not fair to discount his points because they are dunks. They count the same.

Bonn this is what Tyson Chandler avg against Miami last year in the playoffs. 5 games 6 points 9 rebounds 1 block 3 turnovers FG% 44---enough said. No all star avg 6 points 9 rebounds 44% in the playoffs. Name me one other than Tyson. When a team jams the lane against the Knicks--hes not very effective just like crowding Novak.

By the way in the last 15 games--Tyson has hit double digit scoring three times.

You don't view Tyson's rebounding tap outs the same way Melo's hockey assists are viewed? Show Tyson some love he's recently produce 20 rebound games

I don't dislike him and I think that he is a good player. I just think that he is overrated.

His tap outs are great and he is getting even better at it. He is a far better offensive rebounder than a defensive rebounder.

The no shot blocking thing is mind boggling.

He does often hurt the offense since he gets absolutely no respect inside of 3 feet. He took a couple of jumpers (set shots actually) this year - what happened to them?

There is a reason why Coach K did not use him that much in the olympics.

There is a reason that he did not really get offers from any teams other than us and GS.

You dislike Melo, I don't dislike Tyson, and again I just think that he is overrated.

Great team guy too.

You can't be serious. He had the flu. Evaluating a player from a 5 game sample is bad enough already but when it's 5 games with the flu, it's mind-boggling. His career track record in the playoffs speaks for itself.
The team has stopped looking for him and his scoring has decreased in the past 15 games, though. Smith gives 5 more points on 9 more shots. The incremental production from Tyson to Smith is essentially adding a player who goes 2 for 9 plus a foul shot every game. That's not even taking into account the difference of almost 3 offensive boards a game.
You're basically trading a top 15 player for a top 100 player.

That's the one and only thing you reply to from my 8 sentence post? How about explaining why a marginal increase in production of 2 FG made and 9 attempted will help us? Or how a decrease in 3 offensive rebounds a game will help us? You seem to be mindlessly going for the higher volume, flashier payer.

They are 2 different players. I think Josh Smith in an up tempo style can avg 20-8-4-2 48% and he can match up much better against LBJ. Tyson has been moved several times in his career. He's a team fit type player. I like him--I dont necessarily want to trade him--but I know our time is short. If other moves can be made Tyson would be just fine. If we stand pat we have 0?100 to beat Miami if they do not sustain injury with the team as is. I dont care about beating them regular season early. We would get killed now.

I would never trade Tyson for Smith, Amare yes, but this efficiency thing is garbage. Look at Gay's impact on toronto

You see...I Tyson is efficient from 3ft. How often is a player as close as 3ft from the basket. Maybe 3-7 times a game.. Which happens to be Tyson average shot attempts.

What about the rest of the game. He gives you zero. He gets the ball, can't pass, can't shoot & doesn't command a double team to helo open the floor for Melo. Imagine how easy Melo's life would be with Dwight Howard instead of Tyson

How about Tyson Chandler to Atlanta for Josh Smith and one of their 2013 number 1 picks
