During the offseason, Amare worked with "the Dream" to learn some post moves. I for one was skeptical; I truly believed that you cant teach a dog new tricks. However, I'm pleasantly surprised with his effectiveness in the post. Now, he'll never being confused for Hakeem, Duncan or Shaq, I think Amare actually a threat down low with his post moves. What do others think?
I agree Ned; Amare has improved in the post
Sure he has learned some tricks in the post; but its still faceup moves
I dont see a difference at all
He gets an "A+" for effort but he's still clumsy down low

In my mind, the end game with Amare is to get him to play well enough for some team with nothing going for them to take a flyer on him for 2 years since they have to spend 40+ million anyway.

This team would great with that 20 million split between Millsap and and a buck up??

Have to admit, I was expecting Stat to show off some of the Dream's flashier post moves at this point. I'm still happy about what I'm seeing. Stat's post moves are simple, economical, and effective. The fewer the moves with Stat the higher the percentage I'm guessing. Its when Amar'e tries to get too ambitious that he runs into trouble.

My only concern beyond Stat staying healthy is getting him and JR to work better on the floor together. When those two click this squad is going to have a hell of a one two punch off the bench. Throw in Camby and Sheed coming back and we are going to be in great shape if they can stay reasonably healthy.

another Great game by Stat. No he didn't post awesome numbers but, who can possibly complain about 7 for 7 from the field. Had a few turn overs early on but, dude had it going, look very, very good out there with both Melo and Chandler on the floor. Moving fluid out there on the court, stuffing down dunks the way we like to see and that FADE AWAY JUMPER.....AH I still Amore Amare .....WELCOME BACK MANNNNNNNNNNNN, WE MISSED YOU
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Amar'e post-ups: 10.4% of possessions last year (0.77 points per possession), 30.4% of possessions this year (1.04 PPP)

Thing that probably matters: Amar'e went iso (according to Synergy) on 20% of possessions last year. 4.6% of possessions so far this year.

Here is some more stats I saw on knicerblooger

According to NBAwowy, the Amare/Melo/Chandler pairing now has an offensive rating of 120.1 and a defrtg of 103.6.

And they are just crushing it on the boards – ORB% 31.8, DRB% 77.6, TRB% 54.7, the last 2 of which would lead the NBA by large margins. Interestingly, Amare is the one that makes that rebounding go — lineups with Melo+Chandler but no Amare really suffer on the boards (ORB 25.2, DRB 75.1, TRB 48.6).

And Amare – arbitrarily looking at the last 3 weeks (1/10-1/31), he has a USG% of 25.1 and a TS of 70.9. Dude is unreal.

Yep, It;s really simple Amar'e just replace Brewer and becomes a finisher instead of someone who passes on open layups(something Brewer used to not do in the past) and someone who can make an open J. Also, with his post ups it lets Melo play off the ball more and they really work well together. I would love to see more PnR with the two because it keeps the big from blocking Melo drive or gives Melo that ability to throw it back to an open Amar'e J. Then If you get rotation on Amar'e hello Chandler or an open three.

Great to see Amar'e having some success- he put in the work, so he deserves to reap the rewards. His games looks a lot more varied this season, it's fun to watch him play.
