I don't see the reason for sending in a tape of Rondo bumping a ref if the ref never called anything in the first place, but I do see the point in sending in tape of how calls on a certain player is being miscalled for whatever reason. But sending in audio of talk during a game because it's too harsh for someone to take? lol. What is this, kindergarten?

New York Knicks' owner James Dolan reportedly order several MSG employees to record every word said by Carmelo Anthony in Friday's game against the Bulls.

Dolan wanted the tape from the game sent directly to him.

Anthony was suspended for Thursday's game following his altercation earlier in the week with Kevin Garnett.

Even as much as I dislike Melo and think he's still a mental midget I wouldn't resort to tactics like this. Not sure what Dolan's motive is here. There hasn't been anything I can discern that suggest Melo is a target of NBA players for trash talk. When reflecting on the validity of this story it makes you think back to the Frank Isola piece on Dolan stationing Garden officials throughout the arena stalking reporters and fans being thrown out of the arena for excessive booing and unfavorable sign making. Dolan is a very Bizarre owner all the way around.

reminds me of the George Steinbrenner/Howard Spira/Dave Winfield fiasco.

When ferry did it they suspended Rondo, even though the ref didn't even t him up for bumping him.

The league didn't even know it happened, how do you explain that?

Ferry going to the refs after the game got him fined and it also just caused the NBA to go and look at the altercation when the otherwise would not have and given Rondo's reputation (doing it once before) they made their decision. Thats punishing a player.

That has nothing to do with punishing the refs. Im talking about Stern protecting his refs. Ferry got fined because you're "not supposed to approach the refs after the game". If Dolan presents any tapes with the intention of having any of the referees punished, he'll probably be fined and nothing will happen.

Ferry sent in the tape that got Rondo suspended.

I'm sure Rondo makes more than 15 grand each game....Ferry wins, and showed up ref bias, he wins hands down.

This is the very reason Ferry is looked at as a Rat across the league right now, because things of that nature are very rarely done. Look Rondo bumped the ref...... the league called him to investigate the matter he hung the phone up on them and was suspended because of it. Ferry is bitter over the whole Lebron/Cavs elbow/delonte-mom/talents to south beach gate. The Celtics were the least team they played before he parted ways with Cavs.

There is almost no advantage to record audio to this degree and there is no evidence proving it's helping teams league wide....

I dont really get what you're trying to argue here. What came of Ferry exposing the ref's bias? Ferry getting fined and Rondo getting suspended. What happened to the referee who, from the NBA's point of view, allowed a player to bump him and didnt do anything about it? Nothing.

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

It aint about the ref, the point is that execs report goings on all the time, you;'re looking at it very narrow.

The article wants you to think one way, and it's working.

I think Ferry feels totally accomplished in making sure Rondo received a day of docked pay and the team missing it's player, knowing he should have been ejected that game and wasn't.

He paid 15g's to show up everyone.

From the tone of what happened.... had Rondo not hung up on Stu Jackson he very well may have not been suspended.

I was directly responding to the post about the ref telling Woody and Melo to shut up when I talked about referees getting punished. At that point it was about the ref. I basically said that if Dolan is hoping any refs get directly punished (fine, suspension, etc.) for sending in audio of them targeting the Knicks, that it most likely wouldnt happen.

Actually yeah I think you're right. I think the official statement was about his failure to cooperate with the investigation. Thats my bad.

I find it comical Mark Cuban was mentioned in this thread....yep it's known he sends in tons of information to the league and ask yourself how much have the Mavs benefited from this and what has happened to refs and how games are called for his team?

NOTHING!

To take this a step further guess what Cuban has been fined this year by the NBA. Can you guess what for? That's right talking about the crappy refs. Guess what outlet he chose to try and get his point across.....TWITTER!!!!!(pockets 50k lighter)

but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but but

Cuban just send in your Video and Audio and let that do the talking for you...ROTFLOL!

Every time Cuban gets fined the league makes it stiffer and stiffer....which suggest not only are they tired of his schtik(no matter the validity of it) but they are probably highly annoyed at reviewing the Audio/Visuals tailored to favor his franchise he sends to them.

Yup, but the refs dont retaliate on his players hardly, that is the point, money aint nothing to Cuban, his crusade is league bias, and his team has been handsomly rewarded from the reffing in the NBA.

His gripes haven't been about ref retaliation it's about how they call games and he gripes multiple times a year Finals appearances or not, so no his team is not benefiting from his griping.

He tried to be slick going to Twitter and got caught yet again.

So the league has a bias against what's allowed to be said to Carmelo?

Only the audio can answer that.

LOL. Good thing Dolan's on the case. This trash talking is killing the competitive balance of the league.
