Given that this is not KG's first time saying crap like this, Stern must show them who's boss.

Stern fined amare for reacting and calling someone a faggot. Personally I find this much more offensive. Also this just one thing that he said. There obviously isn't a filter there.

KG being his vile self. Shocker. Melo claimed in an interview with the press today that he went to talk to KG and find out 'where that was coming from" regarding whatever he said on the court. So it sounds like KG said whatever nasty, vile thing (about his wife?) and Melo wanted to have a discussion about it. I guess I don't have a problem with it.

I'm actually of the opinion that Melo just had a bad night from jump, and was frustrated by the C's physical play. I don't think his play had anything to do with KG 'getting in his head'. Yes, he was angry about what was said and wanted to confront KG about it after the game, but I don't think KG got him to 'have a bad game'. People are giving him far too much credit on what was simply a poor shooting night for Carmelo.

I remembered when I stopped liking KG while he was on the T-Wolves.

There was a story that the Wolves had signed this U of Minnesota alum (big dude) to a 10 day deal and while in practice got the better of KG a couple of times and outta frustration KG broke the guy's nose and the player was subsequently cut because KG was the Big Ticket.

I have never been able to locate this story and have researched it a number of times over the years after watching games where he irritates the **** outta me. Has anyone else ever heard this story?

BTW - never knew he pulled that w/ Duncan. I assume he had no idea about Duncan's deceased mother. I mean I don't think the guy could be that low class, could he?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1198491/3/index.htm – In fact, Duncan hates Kevin Garnett. Hates him the way liberals hate Sean Hannity. This information comes from very reliable sources, who talk about how KG has made a career of trying to punk Duncan, baiting him and slapping him and whispering really weird smack into his ear. They talk about how funny this is, because the worst thing you can do as an opponent is piss off Duncan. Then, as Malik Rose says, “he f—— destroys you.” Duncan’s lifetime numbers versus Garnett’s teams, by the way: 20.02 points per game, 12.15 boards and a 29–19 record, including the postseason. Duncan is diplomatic about the topic. Asked if perhaps all those years battling Garnett have softened his feelings for the man, led to a Magic-Larry type of kinship, Duncan leans back on the couch in his hotel room and grins. There is a pause. A longer pause. Finally he says, “Define kinship.”

http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/why-does-tim-duncan-hate-kevin-garnett – The story goes that on May 9, 1999 (Mother’s Day), Tim Duncan’s Spurs played Kevin Garnett’s Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs. During that game, Garnett, who is known for his incessant need to trash talk and intense dislike for any sort of decency did what he does best. He went too far. Just as Tim Duncan was going to take two free throws, Garnett barked at him: “Happy Mother’s Day, mother****er!” Tim Duncan’s mother famously died of breast cancer the day before his 14th birthday.

Lets not play moral police here and judge.

1. There is nothing that KG can say that justifies losing your professional conduct. Its a game. Its not like KG personally knows how La La tastes. If he did, then its personal.

2. Even if KG is talking about Derek Fischers kid who is a very sick child, you don't lose it. You deal with it off the court via the proper channel. If KG does it off the court, then its a different story. KG says it because of the game. To get in your head. Its because of the game. Melo been in the league 8 years and knows KG is will do it. The thing he said to Charlie V. was eventually made public and KG looked bad because of it. Maybe he don't care. Who cares what a dumbass says anyway.

3. Im kind of glad players still do this instead of this fraternal nice thing all the time. Im old school and players should not like each other. I have heard MJ say some real nasty stuff to team mates and opponents. I think MJ who was friends with Mugsy bogues about ruined him VERBALLY. Its the game. Im glad players want to win.

4. Nalod been married 26 years and my wife is attractive and gets hit on from time to time over the years. Maybe if my wife cheated on me or my marriage made me feel insecure I'd feel different.

5. "Honey nut cheereos"? Well thats better than "Capt' crunch" especially with them "Crunch berries" but im not sure what to make of it. Is "honey nut cheereos' really that good or that bad? How can the Commish really address this without laughing? Its pretty damn funny if you ask me. Childish. Even more so the way Melo reacted. Please tell me there is more to it?

6. You in the mecca, you being cheered "MVP--MVP--MVP", your praised by Bernard King, Your tutored with manhood guidence by woodson, and the big bad Celtics are in town and you freaking lose it by "honey nut chereos"?

"Its a honey of an oat, its honey nut cheereos".

My point was that stern already has fined guys for using words he deemed offensive. The nba fines for flopping and suspends players for leaving the bench and just walking on the court during an altercation. If a player uses words to incite an altercation it doesn't seem like a stretch to give a fine for that.

then i hope garnett gets fined.

still won't stop him from doing whatever it takes to win.

+1000 it's so easy to say what Melo could've or should've done until you look at it this way. I personally think Charlie Villanueva should've beat the crap out of KG aafter the Cancer patient comment. Enough is enough!!!

Wow is that what he said ??? And Melo went bezerk ?

Man we all had ya mama smell like _______ Jokes all the time it's called ribbing.

Now when when you have a temper those jokes are used to get you off mentally.

If you would talk about somebody's girl or sister in a suggestive way, we would just come back and say yea your girl smell and likes to rock like this ________ and that would be the ribbing topic of the day.

This is very immature on both parties involved, but the one(Garnett) knows how to use it as an advantage because he is a player who would do anything to win.

KG is almost like a heel (the bad guy) in pro wrestling. He'll get on the mic and talk **** about you or people close to you to get you mega pissed off. During the match, while the ref's back is turned, he'll strike you in the nuts or hit you in the head with brass knuckles or something.

Only difference here is in wrestling, the heel almost always gets his comeuppance in the end. He'll get his soon, hopefully.

I am so sick of this apologist crap for other teams on the UK fan site. I swear to the almighty if the situation had been reversed you & a few others wouldve been screaming about how Bush league Melo was & how he needs to be a better man to be the leader of a championship team. Why is then that all of KG's dirty tactics seem to gt overlooked because of the fact that he much like lebron conspired to join forces with two other fading superstars & won, one measly chip. the dude is a A-Hole plain & simple & no amout of Celtic lore can change that!!! Try Jock Riding for your own team once in your miserable history on this board or go elsewhere ((Hey no offense dude it's just gamesmanship...I'm just trying to win this debate))

You all remember Anthony Peeler giving KG(big ticket) the business when he played for the Timberwolves.

You guys wanted Melo to do this ???

KG is a punk but knows what he is doing.
It was only one way for them to win the game - take Melo out somehow.
So he did. It was all decided before the game and executed perfectly.
What is really important in NBA - win the damn game. How, nobody cares.
Melo was distracted and Woody should take him out not run him on adrenalin.
We have tendency to lose the collective team cool for no reason and NBA teams are starting to notice.
We need Sheed on the court badly in this games to take guys like KG out of the game with him.

actually the most effective tactic to use on melo is to get him in early foul trouble then rough him up. he has no response for that because he lacks the guile to draw fouls. he needs to get to the line 15 times in games like this. either that or woody needs to run him behind a screen or two all game to keep him out of trouble. he was going one on one while being on tilt and in a rush.
