So, I decided to aggregate the lists posted to come up with the consensus top players in the NBA. I assigned point values for each position (1=10 pts, 2-9 pts, etc.), added them up, and sorted them. Overall there were 19 players picked in 10 lists with a 3-way tie for 13 and a 2-way tie for 16. I decided the ties by counting the number of lists they appeared on. Here are the overall results:
1. Lebron James-98 points
2. Kevin Durant-92 points
3. Chris Paul-69 points
4. Kobe Bryant-64.5 points
5. Carmelo Anthony-62.5 points
6. Dwight Howard-25 points
7. James Harden-21 points
8. Derrick Rose-17 points
9. Russell Westbrook-16 points
10. Rajon Rondo-15 points
11. Tim Duncan-13 points
12. Kevin Love-10 points
13. Dwayne Wade-7 points; appeared on 4 lists at 9, 9, 9, and 10
14. Blake Griffin-7 points; appeared on 3 lists at 8, 8, and 10
15. Tony Parker-7 points; appeared on 2 lists at 7 and 8
16. Deron Williams-6 points; appeared on 3 lists at 8, 9, and 10
17. Marc Gasol-6 points; appeared on 1 list at 5
18. Zach Randolph-3 points
19. Paul Pierce-1 point
Unsurprisingly, Lebron was the consensus best player in the league; of the 10 lists posted he was ranked 1st in 8 of them and 2nd in the other two. Kevin Durant receive the opposite votes; ranked 1st twice and 2nd 8 times. I'm not surprised that Chris Paul is 3rd overall but I am surprised he didn't end up with more points and that no one ranked him better than 3rd on their list. Of the top 5 players, Carmelo Anthony is the only one that didn't appear on every list.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion
How beautiful if nothing more
Than to wait at Zion's door
I've never been in love like this before
Now let me pray to keep you from
The perils that will surely come
