2013 NBA ALL-STAR BALLOTING PRESENTED BY SPRINT WESTERN CONFERENCE
Frontcourt: Kevin Durant (OKC) 1,088,797, Dwight Howard (LAL) 716,671, Blake Griffin (LAC) 593,024, Tim Duncan (SA) 352,534, Pau Gasol (LAL) 239,440, Kevin Love (Min) 221,291, Omer Asik (Hou) 160,935, Rudy Gay (Mem) 140,864, Serge Ibaka (OKC) 134,172, Marc Gasol (Mem) 114,465, LaMarcus Aldridge (Por) 111,156, Zach Randolph (Mem) 111,046, Dirk Nowitzki (Dal) 106,623, Metta World Peace (LAL) 106,025, Chandler Parsons (Hou) 93,057

Carmelo still holding strong in the 2nd Forward spot in East balloting. Tyson needs some help probably from coaches to get in. It shouldn't shock me that Jeremy Lin is getting all the Asian popularity vote, but it still does. Him almost doubling teammate James Harden is hard to stomach.

I said last year that Lin would be starting PG for the East in the All Star game (obviously some things have changed). The NY vote would have helped too, but shouldn't be too shocked. It'll be an absolutely joke if he beats out Chris Paul though...but he's right there.

I'm actually rooting/voting for Lin, it would great to see him have to start in a game with Kobe, Dwade, Rondo, LBJ, Melo.

I would watch that Allstar game.

How can anyone call you racist for that? Thats exactly why he'd become a starter if he did. It was ridiculous seeing the amount of Asian fans who showed up to Knicks games last year just because of Lin and Lin only (I'm a little bitter cause I was supposed to go to that Laker game for my birthday but couldnt get tickets).

Getting in off votes means nothing. Getting voted in by coaches means everything.

Melo has always had the public votes his whole career at his respective position(forwards). He has increased his overall vote count but it's the NYC(east coast) factor. No big deal.

It's one of the most meaningless accomplishments for a professional basketball player being a leading vote getter. The All-Star game in general is one of the worst exhibition games to watch in any sport.

I got this post from clutchfans.net.

According to http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance/_/sort/awayAvg, the Rockets are the 2nd most-welcomed NBA team, behind the Lakers and ahead of all the other NBA teams.

When the Rockets come to town, an average of 18,823 fans would go to the stadium to watch the Rockets against their home team. The numbers are 19,029 for the Lakers and 18,464 for the Heat.

2013 Attendance Home Road Overall
RK TEAM GMS TOTAL AVG PCT GMS AVG PCT GMS AVG PCT
1 Lakers 15 284,955 18,997 99.7 14 19,029 99.2 29 19,012 99.5
2 Rockets 16 250,514 15,657 86.8 12 18,823 96.0 28 17,013 90.9
3 Heat 16 317,839 19,864 101.4 10 18,464 97.3 26 19,326 99.8

We saw this last year with Linsanity and the Knicks. Lin is extremely popular and not just outside the US, specifically asia.

All-Star voting is a popularity contest. Starting All-Star does not mean what everybody thinks it should mean. It is the most popular players. This also happens in Little League when selecting the Town All-Star teams. The kids vote in the first 4 or 5 players. Guess what? It is not the best players that get voted in. It is the most popular. Lin being voted in as a starter in the All-Star game should not be viewed as a black eye or something comical. Now, if he gets first team All-NBA which is voted in by 120+ sports writers and media people then you should have a problem.

if Lin gets enough votes to be the starter at point guard, then FANS should no longer be able to Vote the starters in. Let them vote for the reserves if they are so damn stupid or emotionally crippled that they can't see he doesn't even deserve to be in the game.

What the hell is your issue against fans voting who they want to see in the All Star game,

I voted for J Lin too, All Star game is about the stars fans want to see, not necessarily who has the best True Field Goal % or whatever advanced statistic,

It's a global game whether you like it or not and Jeremy Lin is an All-Star!!

Wang Zhizhi didn't get voted in, so it's not like Jeremy Lin sucks, JEREMY LIN HAS ALL-STAR GAMES REGULARLY, IF NOT YET FREQUENTLY

So chill out with the Anti-Lin hate

It's an allstar game not a pick-up game. Only players playing on a allstar level should be in the allstar game IMO. It has nothing to do with hating on Lin, but to be honest he has no business being ahead of Tony Parker and James Harden who are clearly having much better seasons than Lin.

There are others who have an ample amount of votes who have no business being in the discussion either. Ray Felton and Monta Ellis are not having better seasons than Holiday, etc...Its not about Lin, its about the process...

The process is perfect, All Star weekend is for the fans, they want to see their favorite players play in a game,

There are guys that do dirty work in the league and there are guys that shine bright, like Stars, and the stars is what the fans want to see at All Star weekend, and the two categories aren't mutually exclusive, so there are also stars that do plenty of dirty work,

I'm sure Tony Parker is fine with not getting the votes because he's too busy dropping buckets and taking names across all the land!!

It's almost a bad thing, to be voted in, because if I'm in that situation, I'm going for the break!! gotta rest it's a long season, I would sleep a lot

First of all, these players take being allstars very serious. I'll never forget Isiah crying on camera when he won the allstar game MVP. I remember watching a Kareem Abdula Jabbar interview and as he was going over his career accomplishments, he made it a point to point out how many allstar games he played in. In Larry Birds book, he mentioned how much winning the allstar game MVP meant to him. Sort of a validation. Jordan's grudge against Isiah started at the allstar game.

Unless you know Tony Parker personally, how could you say he doesn't mind? I read in an interview that one of Rod Strickland's biggest regrets was never playing in an allstar game. I highly doubt Parker who is a competitor would be okay with guys who he is clearly better than, getting into the allstar game over him.

are you saying that the PROCESS OF DEMOCRACY is also flawed?

No, that is not what I'm saying...I'm talking abut the allstar game. Please dont twist my words and veer off topic....

The all star game is a player popularity game, no real issue with Lin voted in as the starter.

I really do hope Jeremy Lin wins, the fallout is going to be Phenomenal!!! This guy is going to starting in an all star purely because of his race, averaging like 12 pts and 6 asts.

I actually thought it was a little racist to think Lin is going to get voted in. I thought being Asian and a basketball didn't mean you had to be a Lin Fan. Be hell he just might do it, it might be true, which is sadder than all this folks cling to Obama because he is brown skinned. I mean at least he's doing something important.

Chris Paul is going to be leading the Clippers take over of LA, something that nobody ever thought would happen, but he is going to coming off the bench in the All star game because his last name isn't Chang. Can't wait!!!
