![]() I got this post from clutchfans.net.
According to http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance/_/sort/awayAvg, the Rockets are the 2nd most-welcomed NBA team, behind the Lakers and ahead of all the other NBA teams. When the Rockets come to town, an average of 18,823 fans would go to the stadium to watch the Rockets against their home team. The numbers are 19,029 for the Lakers and 18,464 for the Heat.
We saw this last year with Linsanity and the Knicks. Lin is extremely popular and not just outside the US, specifically asia. All-Star voting is a popularity contest. Starting All-Star does not mean what everybody thinks it should mean. It is the most popular players. This also happens in Little League when selecting the Town All-Star teams. The kids vote in the first 4 or 5 players. Guess what? It is not the best players that get voted in. It is the most popular. Lin being voted in as a starter in the All-Star game should not be viewed as a black eye or something comical. Now, if he gets first team All-NBA which is voted in by 120+ sports writers and media people then you should have a problem. |

![]() The all star game is a player popularity game, no real issue with Lin voted in as the starter.
