this.. I love how the dude made Chris Duhon look like a stud and people cried because the Knicks didnt defend. Highlarious. People will quickly see the problem was never MDA, it was the Knicks and their players. Of course they were playing pretty well until a certain trade happened, but water under the bridge. After the donkees we had here MDA was refreshing and he will do a great job with the Lakers.

not huslting and having coaching problems is part of his history, but Im sure this year is different. Thats the great thing Ive learned about having Melo on your team. Every new year is THE year he's going to not quit, or win a playoff game, or win a playoff series, or come into shape. Melo = hope springs eternal.

Why is the best player on a 5-0 team (best in the league) taking off possessions and giving up uncontested dunks because he's too busy worried about getting calls on forced shots against a triple team? Stupid indeed.

fishmike wrote:you cant make this up. I put the game on right before halftime last night. Come back late in the 3rd and Melo forces a shot, gets beat down court as Magic have an uncontested dunk. Woody is yelling at him. Mike Breen is saying Melo is yelling back. I guess he was too distracted by the MVP chants from Knick fans in Orlando to quit crying about non calls on forced shots and get back on D.

MVP!

Thank god we won... but I will tell you these guys are going to turn on Melo if that crap doesnt stop. A guy like Sheed will just punch him in the face and say I didnt come back after two years for this crap.

Really can't wait to see Amar'e Stoudemire return. Stoudemire came here during a period and time where every other NBA star looked elsewhere. We may have built our team around Melo, but this man (Amar'e) changed the culture of our franchise both on and off the court and promised us both Tony Parker and Carmelo Anthony during his first interview as a Knick. Instead we landed Melo (and then some).

Amar'e Stoudemire feasted with Raymond Felton, and Raymond Felton put up career numbers in both points per game along with assists per game playing alongside Stoudemire. Raymond Felton himself averaged 17.1 points (career high) and 9.0 assists per game (another career high) during his 54 games alongside Amar'e Stoudemire back in only 2010-2011. Raymond Felton being able to work with both Tyson Chandler/Amar'e Stoudemire in regards to the pick and roll is going to become a thing of beauty for our offense moving forward. Felton is on the verge of having two amazing finishers at the rim in Stoudemire and Chandler.

With Felton at the Point, Amar'e Stoudemire set a franchise record for consecutive games of 30+ points. Also averaged 25.3 points, 8.1 boards, 2.6 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. Had an outstanding first season with our Knicks. Also murdered K.G and the Boston Celtics during game one of our playoff matchup. On the road in Boston too. Put up 28 points, 11 boards, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 2 steals off 12/18 shooting.

And then he got injured. Even last year during a time where Stoudemire was hurt, recovering from injury, lost his brother due to death etc, etc had an overall off-year and still put up 17.5 points, 7.9 boards, 1.1 assists and 1.0 blocks per game. Hurt his hand punching an extinguisher, missed 1 playoff game due to a bad hand and returned to drop 20 points and 10 boards off 8/13 shooting during our first playoff win in quite some time (against Miami).

Here in 2012-2013? I believe we're on the verge of getting a 100% healthy Amar'e Stoudemire. Which could be scary for the rest of the league. Before Stoudemire had to get this cyst removed from his knee, he was focused on the game of basketball like never before. Worked out during the entire offseason with an all-time great in Hakeem Olajuwon. Chances are Stoudemire learned a thing or two in regards to overall footwork, back to the basket ability along with low post moves (thanks to Hakeem working with Amar'e on a daily basis).

During Stoudemire's first and only preseason game (here in 2012-2013), he put up 18 points, 5 boards and 1 block off 8/11 shooting (only 27 minutes). Look great during his preseason return.

Kurt Thomas, Rahseed Wallace, Marcus Camby, Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler. We're about to have some big men down low.

Defensively challenged as he may be, we still need his 8 or 9 rebounds a game and help blocks to make our team complete. I'm not concerned about his scoring. We got 3 pg's that can set him up.

and JRod... there is a difference between the hate you alledge and calling it like one sees it.

In fact I even said Melo playing like a top 10 player several times today, but why ruin your fun with accuracy?

So one would think a top 10 player would at least demand a few shekels of cap space and some draft picks, huh?
For someone who points out reading comprehension deficiencies almost as much as I do, you certainly ummmm...
Nevermind. I'm sure you were just kidding.

It's okay, watch the games, have fun! Hopefully Melo brings you some more highlights like those you pointed out in your quotes above!

Honestly fish, if you were actually calling a game, "who would call it as one sees it better", you or Mike Breen?

Whats funny is amaere throwing down a vicious dunk goes to the bench cause the games in hand, next thing you know, his back or his knee is in pain. but he gives you know indication that anythings bothering him, and his out for weeks..

Thats scary..

Melo is a good player. Its his jock riding circlejerk loving minions that make him annoying to have on your roster. Good hard working posters come here to discuss basketball only to be bludgeoned by the Melo is the best ever, natural leader and "I wish I had his equipment" (Yea... we all saw you started that one) threads.

As for the trade? Hated it. Didnt see gutting a good young roster for him. But I was also wrong about a few things. 1) I thought the picks and cap space would handcuff Knicks ability to improve. Thanks to amnesty (CBA wasnt out yet) and some flukey things like JR signing on and of course this year with Kidd that proved not to be true.
2) we traded an uptempo 26 yo PG having a career season (19ppg 9assists) critical to the current coaches system for a 36 yo PG with no legs who walks the ball up. Obviously that one turned out well too. Big Felton fan.

Im perfectly comfortable being wrong, and stand by what I said (at the time).

Funny you mention Breen, because didnt he call Melo out on that play that ended up with Melo and Woody jawing each other?

Nobody ever said this.

My question to you is, why does it irk you so much when Knick fans "jock-ride" Melo? Last time I checked, he's a Knick and this is utimateknicks.com. Its not like people are "jock-rding," a player on a hated rival. Now that would be annoying to see on this site. Would it have irked you if posters started a bunch of "Bernard King for MVP" threads back in the day? or "Ewing is the Best" threads?

I might step in:

Fish is not slaming Melo, he is slamming the Homeristic Bieber-like love that goes with it.

It does get annoying. The perspective is narrow and after 20 games it is assumed the 1st seed is ours to lose.

Reality is there is 62 more games which need be EARNED.

Im not speaking for Fish, just my take.

Its suppose to be fun.

I hit the "Ignore" button a lot, but there are times the sugercoating is just too think.

Fun. Yes, it is supposed to be fun. I dont disagree that it might get to be a bit much, but can you admit that there is a Yang to the Melo-homerism-Ying? The constant undervaluing of his game at every chance. The hijacking of threads and the out-of nowhere melo-bash-a-thon. Using numbers and stats to tell me that Melo didn't have a good game when I just saw with my own 2 eyes that he had an exceptional game with clutch baskets. That gets annoying aswell....

With all due respect Nalod, cut your crap in regards to this "homer" talk. You yourself personally tried to make me out as some type of "homer" due to not only the love I have for our Knicks, but also my knowledge of the game.

http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=43379&page=4

Page 4 of that thread is a perfect example.

You've yet to respond, despite the fact that you've went out of your way and tried to make me out as being some type of "homer" who didn't know what I was talking about. I defended myself, stood up to your little acquisitions of homerism, and you've yet to respond. You asked for and/or demanded accountability, which I gave to you with actual knowledge of the game of basketball and/or our Knicks and in return? You've yet to respond. Which was (and is) gutless. Again, enough with your homerism acquisitions amongst others.

Supporting Melo to the fullest doesn't make anyone out to be a "homer". It means these posters have enough basketball knowledge and/or insight to not only know but also understand that Carmelo Anthony is our greatest Knick since Patrick Ewing (key word being 'since'). Talking and/or posting with big dreams doesn't make any of our posters out to be a "homer" but instead, these fans have the knowledge to understand that we're currently featuring our strongest team in over 19 years. 1993-1994 to be exact.

"Homeristic Bieber-like love". Yea, right.

I don't understand how you can read into intent when posters dislike the conversation about Melo and their pointing their dislike is not a problem in your eyes, even when some of the posters come out and even say they hate Melo player.

But completely miss it and come up with that ex-girl friend bull about wanting the player to fail being wrong or childish when posters talk about Lin and Gallo, even though a good number of the posters will say they don't hate the those players in the least???

Smacks of hypocrisy dude.

Seems like it takes a player to be an ex before they get protection from you.
