Does Lakers lack of success so far put things into perspective.

1) You cannot judge D'Antoni on the Lakers until he has Nash back for a few weeks
2) D'Antoni has not had success in this league without Nash. Nash made him. It's not a coincidence that our record was so much better right after D'Antoni left. To not admit this is foolish.

An alternative way of phrasing that is that he's always had success when he had a competent PG. Two sides to every coin

He had Felton for half the season a couple years ago and Billups the second half. Both halves he was .500. To be considered a good coach, I think you should be able to have a decent record with a team loaded with talent. He's never had a decent record without Nash.

Both Felton and Billups were only here for half a season each. If both got more familiar with it the records might have been different.

Yeah, we're talking about half seasons here? And it's in a year where the team's winning percentage went up by about 200 points.

So you're saying D'Antoni should be judged well on being .500 with a talent laden team? He did a good job because a 20 win team with marginal talent turned into a .500 team with All Star talent? Give me a break. The guy did a bad job here. Why is that so hard to admit?

MDA's track record is pretty documented already, he's a failure as a coach.

Somehow supporters always point to the middle stop in Phoenix. It's weighted more than the other 3 teams somehow. He's failed miserably in Denver, New York, and pretty soon LA.

The truth always comes out eventually.

Any coach would've won 50/60 games with an MVP Nash and Amar'e.

He did nothing in the post season, and has done nothing with the other teams he's coached.

I think most GMs are aware of MDA's coaching style taking some time getting used to for players initially. Which might lengthen his "leash" to some extent.

The longest tenured PGs MDA had was Chris Duhon and Toney Douglas. That's all you have to say about his PGs while in NY. He wasn't the coach for our team or roster and that was made pretty clear midway through his first season after waiting out our period of overhauling the remnants from Isiah T for the LeBron free agency bonanza.

As has been stated it shows how important Nash was first and foremost always and forever but second no player no matter what team he plays for is absolved from not giving full effort something Melo admitted he didn't do when D'Antoni was the coach. For this reason among many others he's made it hard for me to support him as a player.

Dwight Howard very similar to Melo in that he derailed Orlando. I loved the fact Orlando kicked their butts yesterday. I'm hoping if Kyrie can get back on the mend soon the Cavs can be every bit the foe for the Heat.

I do not, will not, support players who do things on their terms that in any way sets back a team or becomes a detriment to a team's present and long-term success.

Forget MDA for a second. Why aren't these superstars just able transform the way they play to fit the system like Carmelo was expected to and held accountable to do? I also thought gel time wasn't needed if you had real superstars on your team?

Yet MDA is absolved for admittingly quitting on the Suns, then quitting on the Knicks.

I don't get it either. So far they are basically the same team as last year, but exchanged Bynum for Howard. Also they added Antawn Jamison who shouldn't be discounted. He's very solid.

The only difference is that teams can play hack'a'howard now which greatly ruined the Lakers offense at the end of the Orlando game. Kobe and everyone else was basically left useless offensively. Howard's similarities to Shaq are amazing actually.

They just lost to the Orlando Magic and have some bad losses to the Kings, Pacers, and now Orlando over the last 8 games.

That doesn't contradict anything I wrote

Sure it does.

You posted as if Mike D'antoni has righted the ship.

He's officially sunken it now.

Calling things "less bad" means the ship is righted?

"Just as bad" or "even worse" is probably more appropriate.

So 3-4 is even worse than 1-4 (2-12 with preseason)!
This boils down to a simpler question: What # is bigger - 3 or 1?

the king of empirical data and hard evidence is trying to bolster his argument by comparing a dataset of 7 observations to one with 5?

My argument is that the number 3 is bigger than the number 1. I don't need a big data set to make that argument.
You may think I'm making some other argument like "MDA is doing well" but I'm not.

fair enough - but what's the point of that?

same here.... I am with you here, i want to see cleveland be a pain in the arse to miami, I hope dwight is humbled, I won't support carmelo... I have standards as well... with that said, I want to see dantoni do well in LA, I wish they would trade dwight and parlay him into several good players that dantoni can really fit into his system..

Melo never said anything of the sort in terms of not giving full effort under D'Antoni. People see what they wanna see.

Didn't you know?

3 wins from D'antoni compared to 1 from Mike Brown is evidence that D'antoni will lead them to a championship, and will surpass Phil Jackson in greatness.

Why anyone would support a bad coach who admitted coming to NY was a mistake and did it just for the money grab is beyond me.

Especially a coach who did such a poor job here. Guy who thought Landry Fields and Carmelo had the same green light for shots. Now he is in LA benching JOrdan Hill who probably was showing the most effort on the team before he came aboard. Dantoni is a joke of a coach.

He said leaving PHX was a mistake.

Hindsight: He had new owners who wanted to change things, he was a free agent coach who got a bidding war going between NY and Chicago. HE was not being loved by Sarver and his croney Kerr. They

He felt a long term rebuild in NY with Walsh with a good chance to land lebron and make 24mil a good deal.

Melo made a money grab, Amare made a money grab.

Fans be real, this is a business!

Yea but he chose Chris Duhon over Derrick Rose...who does that?
