Tyson Chandler won DPOY last season. I'm pretty sure that automatically makes him the best defender on the team.
Have you watched Tyson Chandler this year? Does he look liked a defensive player of the year, plus as far as one one defense Shump is far more impressive considering he was guarding Point guards, shooting guards and small forwards last year .
Have you watched Shumpert this year? Of course not because he's injured and won't be playing until sometime in 2013. And Tyson has been doing this for years while Shumpert's only played less than one season. And Tyson was the one cleaning up everyone else's messes last year. He wasn't just guarding opposing bigs, he was also the one protecting the rim when our wings got beat off the dribble, he jumped out into passing lanes, he knew exactly when to double and when to back off. Sure, through the first 7 games this year he hasn't been as good as last year but it's only 7 games which is much too small a sample to draw any conclusions from. It's also 7 more games than Shump has played.
