All Die hard knick fans are damaged in some form. Otherwise we'd defect. Most long term suffering for championship fans are this way. Cub and Redsox fans waited lifetimes. WE at least have one!

I did not get to my first game until 1971 so you got me.

But give me some credit, I had Johnny Green as one of my top 25 knicks and do know he was about 38 or 39 at the time you saw him!

Back then witout all the surgery technique we have now, that was truely a medical marvel for a basketball player to have that long a career! He was genetically gifted!

On paper that was a good team. Pre Cazzie but you had Bell's and Willis at the power position! I never saw in prime willis play but before the knees bogged him down I have read he was flyer like Dice was very quick. I think most fans don't really appreciate how great Willis was before the championship years!

Or how Bradley struggled at the 2 his rookie year!

once again, that you, not everyone feel that way. I don't and I've been Die Hard since 79. Not damaged in any way....never lost or wavered in my love for the Knicks.

When I was young, we took pride in being KNick fans whether they looked like contenders or not. Guys act like this teams hasn't been through rock bottom before. After the Clyde era, we were absolutely terrible. The product on the floor was arguable worse than anything placed out there during the Isiah/Layden eras.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

That is crap. If I'm with you, I'm with you. Win or lose. There is no such thing as defecting to another team.

The only damage is the damage of investing too much in something that is pure entertainment.

Defecting is for crybabies who need their Mommy. To be a New Yorker is to stand strong.

A losing season is no more reason to defect than Hurricane Sandy is a reason to defect from New York City.

Defecting is for cowards. I grew up with Pat Cummings, Rory Sparrow, Eddie Lee Wilkins, and Louis Orr.

Disgruntled, dismayed, and disappointed through the 80s yes. Few flashes here and there, until the Ewing and 90s era brought some near glory.

2000s were traumatic as they come...still bled Orange and Blue through the scandal and jokes.

Never ever damaged. I grew up with the Knicks, rooted for the Knicks when they sucked. Makes it even sweeter, as they turn the corner now.

We have 2 or 3 years to chase that chip...Enjoy it!

Trust me, you guys are Damaged!

I would not hang out with you if you were not!!!!!!

Lighten up, didn't someone say Fan is short for "Fanatic"?

Defectors usually make a statement of defection and we give the "good riddence" seal of approval.

Im sure one day when 3-0 starts are not a once every 13 year event we can act accordingly.

Im really do mean it when I say "Enjoy it"! Its far better than the alternative!

As for me, I also cried when Toby Knight blew his knee out! I survived the Back court of Ray Williams and Michael Ray! I learned what frustration was with those two. Talented as any back court but erratic! It got better when Sly Williams would sub in for one of them! Thank goodness for Campy!

Man, this feels foreign. Chuck Burly's comment (above) from the game thread comes pretty close to my state of mind right now. These first three games have been too great. I feel gluttonous-- kinda guilty, even. I was optimistic about this team in the offseason, but instinctively braced myself for all manner of ugliness along the way. That ugliness will come at some point-- it's a long season--but goddamn, guys. There hasn't been a trace of it so far. I wouldn't change a thing about the first 144 minutes of Knicks basketball this season, and I've never felt that way before, especially not this early. If I heard Mike Breen correctly, this is the first time ever that the Knicks have won their first three games by double digits, and each win has been more dominant than the preceding one. I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself.

- Seth Rosenthal

Sometimes, the only comfort is to stay with what is familiar, even when it is against your own self-interest. Stepping into the unknown is just too uncomfortable a feeling. It forces you to experience different emotions and reactions that are not programmed.

Kinda like skiing a black diamond trail for the first time. All you can do is make one turn at a time and focus on the present.

The past is gone. Bernard King is not walking through that door to team up with Patrick Ewing and Michael Ray is still is drug head. Cool.

Today 6 November 2012 holds promise for things never seen, just as a no-look pass from prigioni to JR Smith.

We're definitely on the same page. Not sure of your age, but similar to Chuck, I go back to Trent Tucker, Kenny "the Animal" Bannister, Cartwright, Truck Robinson, Grunfeld, etc.

Dont understand how anyone who goes back that far, or even further, can stick with the team through the dark aged 80's (especially when King got hurt), remain when the Layden/Isiah and Marbury "Circus" came to town, and now talk about jumping ship just when the dark clouds are fading.

People have talked about leaving now that Lin is gone, but we've seen better more accomplished players leave or get traded away and we've remained. Clyde was traded, Sugar Ray Richardson, Strickland & Mark Jackson who both was at the center of our revitalization in the late 80's were both traded away. King was let go for nothing. We can go on and on......Nevermind what the names are on the back of the jerseys for a minute, just look at the way we are playing the game right now. The ball movement, the defense, it reminds me of the better days. Its beautiful.....

I can't help but start comparing us to LA, OKC, Miami, and think that we're just better. Deeper. Hungrier. I hope it lasts all seaosn. There are going to be losing streaks. There are going to be injuries. But holy crap if the effort and defense of the first 3 games is the new normal this may be the best year we've had since Ewing jumped up on the scorers table and hugged that fan on the sidelines.

Comparison? We don't need no steenkin' comparison. We are the New York Knicks. Other teams women want us and the other teams wanna BE us.

The new normal is the expectation of exceptional effort every night. The new normal is Carmelo diving after loose balls.

The new normal is NOT SSOL. The new normal is beautiful basketball.

The new normal is fewer that 10 turnovers, more than 24 assists and holding teams under 25 points a quarter.

The new normal is our guards feeding our bigs and our bigs feeding our guards. The new normal is Clyde running out of adjectives.

The new normal WILL be televised.

If this is our time, then enjoy the games for whats infront of you.

Love the team as you want, but for most fans its entertainment.

MSG is in the business of selling entertainment. Have fun. I am.

Its not about right or wrong or "Gotcha" moments.

Its about the games. Its not a question of faith.

Off season is about the games. Off season is about "On paper".

We all want the parade down the Canyon of Heroes! Some of you will clime the light posts and scream at the top of your lungs!
Others will watch it on TV. Nalod don't do parades. Don't hold it against me, I just don't have time to get drunk in the middle of the day and proclaim greatness of others with unabashed glee. But I'll be smiling with those that do!

The heat do not want to play us come playoff time. Last year we were missing half our team and had no point guard. this year we are much deeper, much smarter, and defensively we are betetr and still have shumpert coming back. The heat dont have a lot of depth and taht will hurt them against us. lebron is the best and wade/bosh are all-stars but they couldnt beat a deep dallas team in 2011 and we are built the same way dallas was
