Now im not giving up on the season at all but we already have bad injuries with JR,Shump,Amare, and Camby. Why do the Knicks always get injuries at the worst times and why is it always in bunches
I think the Amare signing was a risky move by Walsh. He had to come away with someone. Amare has a ton of character and his leadership and play for the first half of 10-11 was amazing. He just can't hold up physically. Its too bad. He definitely has the heart and the talent to be a star.
I cant blame walsh. Like you said we missed out on every free agent. the goal was lebron and we failed so if we didnt come away with a all-star after wasting two years clearing space the fans would have been pissed
Walsh gave up a ton to get the cap space for two stars. GMs knew what his goal was and they took advantage of him. The worst case was the McGrady trade. He also was too loyal to the former coach in my opinion.

Our best bet now is to look to package Chamdler for some one who can help Melo with the scoring..

nobody's gonna give a great scorer for chandler and his contract. also chandler is the anchor of the defense so thats not a good idea

I really don't care about the length of time out. I'm more concerned with how good he'll be when he does come back. I just want to know that Amar'e will be able to resume the good play he seemed like he was on the verge of having this season. I'm so tired of the STAT bashing that goes on around here. This guy is a warrior and i'm hopeful that he can come back from this and have a good season. He's not some bum that deserves to be knocked like so many of the guys we've seen in this city. He looked good and if not for the banged knee WHICH ANYONE CAN HAVE HAPPEN, he probably has a great start to the year.

Pretty much. Knicks are going to have to make a trade to take off the scoring load off of Melo.

I assume teams like Milwaukee would be interested.

No people are clearly bashing him. People are always looking for ways to trade him. As for the injuries. Some of it is just bad luck. Banging knees has nothing to do with being injury prone. It's just a fluke. Guys that go hard at the rim tend to get hurt more often, so I don't really get that upset. I've never understood being upset cuz a guy gets hurt. If he was a lazy bum and wasn't bustin his butt to get healthy and play thru pain then I could understand but STAT is a guy that has pushed thru pain just to help his team win on multiple occasions. perhaps this time he'll be held out longer to allow him to really heal.

Anybody with a brain knew that LeBron was going to play with Wade in Miami. Where the Knicks caught a real break was not building around Amare AND Joe Johnson. Walsh was smart and used the possibility to clear the cap situation, which is what the Kniks needed to do.

With the new CBA, you won't see something like 2010 happen again. What's too bad is thy there isn't a GM with the gall to make a star player give up dollars to walk.

i dont know if it was a risky move considering what he did all that summer. he got felt, randolph ( who we thought had promise) and other complimentary parts as well as keeping gallo and wilson chandler. if he had stayed course or made a deal to get d.williams instead of using his assets to get melo, then we would be talking a different story. remember, bringing amare here got the ball rolling because NO ONE wanted to be part of this team for years. hindsight, we got arguably the best scorer in the league now as well as the best defensive center not named howard in the league so we should be decent but i hope amare isnt deadweight. he HAS to resemble his old form for us to reach our potential.

If Williams becomes available before Melo then of course you give up he assets for Will.

I contend that the Knicks won't miss Stat all that much. Between Felton, Novak, Smith and Tyson's ability to run the PnR, they can pick up the scoring load. Plus, Melo can play more 4 with Novak or Thomas to space and jump shoot. If it's Thomas, you also get a guy who rebounds and defends better.

If anything, this could be a blessing in disguise andante the case for Stat off
The bench, which by the way, isn't a demotion in today's NBA.

So, the order of events with Stat:

Bone Bruise diagnosis
Cyst diagnosis
Now - Knee damage???

And he had to go to another doctor to get the diagnosis?

Get it together Knicks. When you have a guy making that much money, why not do regular MRI's to see how his knee is doing?

Actually, while we're at it, lets add another 2 weeks:

Jared Zwerling ‏@JaredZwerling
A source close to Amar'e is telling me anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks.

Add the week he's been out already, and that's 8 weeks out with a ruptured cyst?! Typical BS from the Knicks PR- what is the point in lying when there's a 100% chance you're going to be exposed? Did they think we'd forget after 2-3 weeks that they said he's be back then?

As a ruptured cyst doesn't take anywhere near that length of time to heal, I'm guessing he's having the knee scoped (he had that done last time he got a bakers cyst with the suns). If not then he must have some sort of ligament sprain that needs to heal.

I hope when (if...) he returns he's a beast- must be really annoying for him after he put in all that extra work this offseason.

This reminds me soooo much of Allan Houston... except this time we don't even have insurance on Stoudamire's contract. I think he might be done after this season.

JamesLin - the answer to replacing Stats stats has left the building and he is within you... or your name anyway. The curse of "rhymes with insanity" is coming to fruition.

Oh the pain of being a Knicks fan. I can already envision Dolans comments "Well, how were we to know that it would have come down to injuries. Of course if we had known, we would have resigned Lin to boost our offensive production." Yes, forever known as the Dolan Save Face Speech.

Coon said if amare has to retire the Knicks can apply for cap relief from his salary.
