The Mavs are going to stink this year, I have no idea why so many pundits liked what they did this offseason.

Eddy Curry will start on Friday for his debut with the Mavericks.
Nothing like getting tossed right into the fire. The Mavs want to know what they have in Curry with Chris Kaman (calf) and Brandan Wright (ankle) ailing, so the team will test him right away. From Rotoworld.

ESPN is reporting that they plan to waive Curry to make room for Troy Murphy.

Curry has actually looked pretty decent given how putrid he had been for years. He certainly can be a useful role player for a team. I was so angry watching him actually play like an NBA player again and thinking about how he just didn't give a damn when he was here.

Curry is just brutal on the defensive end..I watch some of the dallas game the other night, he certainly was moving better, but guys was just blowing by this dude like a yellow light..

The Mavericks announced the signing of Troy Murphy and waiving of Eddy Curry on Friday evening.

The Mavs agreed to a one-year deal with Murphy on Thursday, pending a physical.

They waived Curry after two games because they needed to create an open roster spot for Murphy. With Chris Kaman likely making his Dallas debut Saturday and Dirk Nowitzki sidelined at least another two weeks, the Mavs determined that a power forward with perimeter shooting range and rebounding ability was a better fit for the roster than a traditional center.Tags:NBA, Dallas Mavericks, Troy Murphy, Eddy Curry
