After the Mike Woodson June dinner in LA with Lin, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler - "Before that dinner, I had reservations. Afterward I was like, Yeah, this is going to be good.”

From the same interview:

Lin told GQ he was forced to return all of his Knicks gear and has no memorabilia left — except for Linsanity shirts fans had given him.

Ha, making him return all his Knicks gear- that's cold!

im happy with what we have now in regards to felton/kidd/pablo however i think those people are still diehard knick fans they just embraced linsanity. Linsanity was probably best best thing weve seen in the garden since 2000

We keep talking about linsanity in those six or seven games but what about the other players on the floor at that time. All of them were playing above thier game. It took LeBron and the Heat to bring us back down to earth. Lin was magic during that time and the news media ran with it. Now he have to prove himself for what he really is. And the buzz word in Houston is that they got suckered for 25million. Yes the Knicks new something that Houston didn't know and that was that Lin's body couldn't hold up for a half a season playing those minuets.

This is not really determined yet is it?

In my mind he has two years to play up to his third year salary. He has to figure out a lot of things on the court and as a leader of his new team. As far as holding up, the kid reminds me what Phil Ford did coming out of UNC back in the day. The kid might have been one of the best PG's in college history and took that game to the NBA. Lin is effective as a threat to penetrate and it beats down the body. Phil Ford eventually had health problems as it could not sustain it for a long time. Lin has to look at how Nash is able to mix it up. Back up and Nash kills you with the shot. Play up and he'll blow buy you. Double and trap and he finds the pick and roll. Stop him penetrating and Nash kicks it out.

YOu need tools to do that around you. Novak was great in the corner, Tyson on the pick and roll. I believe Melo could have had many easy baskets and we Know Amare can pick and roll.

But in the end we all know the contract was "ridiculous" and while most of us prefer he stayed, Knicks never made an offer and Rockets over paid to get the man they wanted.

Right now they are treating him like an investment and won't press him. He'll have time to work it thru.

For some Knick fans he is like the hot college girl we dated and had a brief but amazing time with! She meets a dude with lots of money and goes away. Over the years you hope she gets fat and is no longer hot. Bottom line is she is gone and what you do wit your life is what counts. If you end up with a great girl, all pretty and hot and your happy, it don't matter how the Ex turned out. If the KNicks succeed without Lin its irrelevant.

Felton is like the rebound chick who lost lots of weight and wants to flaunt it. He'll do for while but we know long term he is not the kind of player Lin had the potential to be. What is a long time with the knicks? Two or three seasons? Who the hell knows!

Knicks just need to take care of business themselves. If not, then the bitching will continue.

Papabear Says

What the heck??? LOL Nadlod this ain't about chicks and lost love. This is about basketball win or loose. Lin was a media explosion that looks like it may go bad. And if anyone is saying give Lin 2 years to get better?? Well that means that he really wasn't worth 25 million and good for Houston who tried and screwed us more than once. I doubt that Lin will be in the NBA in 4 years if he plays 35 or 40 mins a game. And if D'Antoni had him he would have rode him till he droped. D'Antoni said that.

tkf - Potential?

Here is a fun fact tkf. By the time Ray Allen arrived in Boston,he had played in more playoff games (67) than Jeremy Lin has played in his entire career (65). Think about that while you are pontificating on "po-tential". Allen was a 10 year veteran with 863 regular season games and a certified All Star.

Arriving in Houston, Jeremy Lin is a 35 game wonderboy with a glass jaw.

Big difference.

One more thing, Pablo Prigioni will have a better season that Lin. Raymond Felton drunk? Only in your resentful dreams.

who was comparing lin to ray allen? my lord...

you want to make a bet that prigioni will have a better season than lin? how about a board banishment bet? if you are that confident? so prigs has to do better than 15/6 and 45% shooting..... right? bet?

tkf - if Jeremy Lin has a better season than Pablo Prigioni, The Answer Man will leave UltimateKnicks forever. The criteria is not simply stats, but who makes the greater contribution to his team.

If Jeremy Lin does not, The Answer Man expects you to do the same. Book it baby.

If Ray Allen, a future Hall of Fame guard, could leave the Celtics, ending a spectacular five-year run with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce as Boston's Big Three, why are we kvetching over an often-injured, second year guard who has never played a full season? The Boston Celtics are focused on busting The Heat and Ray Allen's azz. As it should be. No looking back and absolutely no whining.

Does anyone think the Boston Celtics are crying about Ray Allen, or have they moved forward?

Grumwald is moving on.

Boston got the best of ray allen that they could. they won a ring with him, they reached the mountain top... ray wanted to leave after 5 years.. all great things come to an end..

Very exciting to finally have a PG that can defend any other PG in the league...Able to run an offense inclusive of our two top players...If Felton is able to knock down his shot with consistency, which Lin can't do either, it will only be the Lin groupies talking about him come playoff time....

holfresh. there is a slight difference between being an irrational lin groupie (of which there may be a few lurking about) and being a bit miffed that the kid left.

please don't tell me that in the midst of Linsanity or even after we got finished getting our asses handed to us in the playoffs that you made a list of priorities that looked like this:

Step 1. Get rid of that Lin kid. God his jumper is shaky. Worst thing to happen to this team since Allan Houston.

tkf. felton's gonna be just fine. he played decent when he was with the knicks. he played ok the 2nd half of last season.

i don't get why if you like Lin you need to **** on Felton and vice versa. holy ****. this is getting stupid.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I thought felton played good under dantoni, but I remember times when I wanted him out of here as well.. just wasn't a fan of his wishy, washy play.... honestly, what I don't like the most is the hyping up of felton to put lin down.. I am basically offering a little perspective here... this is the same felton many said was expendable in the carmelo trade because billups was soooooo much better.. this was the same felton that many here were chewing to pieces.. now he is the ROCK to our backcourt.. kind of gets under my skin bro.... but i really have no beef with felton, I just don't think he is the PG you get when you are so called going "all in", but I am willing to give him a chance, I don't hate felton, he is a good guy overall if you ask me..

Bet my arse... don't change the bet... "making a better contribution" is extremely vague and will be left open to interpretation.. Your interpretation... and really that is a crazy bet, the contribution lin had on the knicks was monumental... No lin.. no playoffs....

take my bet as originally posted or don't bet at all Misterearl! 15/6

he doesn't want to bet, see how he changed the bet to where he can leave it open to his interpretation.... prigioni could average 5/2 shooting 30% and he would say, if prigioni wasn't here messaging melo's sore groin on the bench, keeping it warm and loose, knicks would not have been a 45 win team.. therefore his contribution was HUGE..... lol...

And don't bet on it man... I will be watching a lot of other ball, other teams this year... in 35 years, I haven't been this divested in the knicks... not ever.. it is very upsetting.. but that is the great thing about being a basketball fan, I can enjoy watching other teams... I will always root for the knicks to win.....but probably won't be as invested as i was before.. and if you know me... that is a HUGE drop off..

The bottom line - Knicks had an assets and somehow used it in Huston dealings.
We get Camby and Felton for Lin and change. Saved some cache (potentially).
Also we removed somebody who can take the spotlights from Dolan and Melo (probably the main thing why Lin was cut lose).
Not sure if this was the best use of the value Lin has. Only time will tell.
But psychologically it balanced the team. Lin was not the best PG for Woody and Melo.
So now we have the parts which feet better. At least on paper.
