Not a RashWeed fan. Im sure he is funny and a great guy, but I hope he don't pull that crap in a close game.

he might not even be on the team

Hopefully he is a bit more mature. It sounds like Woodson talked him out of retirement and really wanted him on the team.

Rasheed Wallace is not quite in shape yet and he’s using boxing to get there. Wallace donned boxing gloves and threw punches with strength coach Dave Hancock while the rest of the team scrimmaged. It’s unknown if Wallace will be ready Tuesday either. As Wallace threw punches on the sidelines into Hancock’s mitts, it was quite the surreal scene. Wallace has been known for being most combative with referees.
- Marc Berman

Rasheed Wallace's record against NBA referees is 57-2-0. That includes 33 knockouts, 22 unanimous decisions and 2 split decisions.

"Let's go to Harold Lederman for the scorecard..."

You can see the video of this here:

Sheed looks like he's slimming down a lot quicker than I thought. He's not all he way there yet, but he looks a lot less plump than he did in some of those vids posted of him playing over summer.

He looks a lot slimmer. He doesn't seem to be getting a big cardio workout from the boxing in the video.

he hasn't been practicing with the team because he was so far behind them as far as conditioning goes. My guess is he's been lifting and crash diet and cardio

Rasheed is just icing on the cake.

- Ryan Hubler

"He won't be asked to shoot the way he did during his glory days with the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 13 points per game in six seasons, one of which turned into an NBA title run (2004). But he will be asked to spell Amar'e Stoudemire for 15-20 minutes a game, as well as put up defensive stop after defensive stop alongside Marcus Camby and (occasionally) Kurt Thomas.

But the most important thing he'll bring to this Knicks team? Chemistry.

And while that is strange for some to hear, considering his tendency to be a bit volatile, Wallace was the team leader every stretch of the way with the Pistons, and he mentored a number of players on both Detroit and Boston. He exhibited the toughness needed to perform at an NBA level year-in and year-out. And the young players were vastly influenced by that."

"Offensively, the combination of Rasheed Wallace and Steve Novak foul-line extended on the wings is scary. Jason Kidd will play the 'pick n' pop' or 'drive and dish"' incessantly and terrorize the opponents' defense. Then 'Sheed, Camby and Thomas, although not as fast nor possessing the lift they once had, will still have the ability to hunker down on defense to slow down the talented post players of the East."

Sheed was awful playing for the Celtics and that was two years ago. Now, he's going to play 15-20 mpg and be a defensive stopper? There were whole games with Boston that he never went further in than the 3-point line!

VCoug - Sheed has participated in Training camp. Mike Woodson has only held Wallace out of scrimmages.

Reports are that he goes full speed today or Monday.

exactly, Woody and the Medical Staff said because of the 2year layoff, they wanted him to take it slow prevent any chance of injuries.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Whatever, people here were saying he was going to be in better shape than he was in Boston two years ago. Instead, he's so out of shape he can't even scrimmage. He's a waste of a roster spot.

VCoug - If Sheed can build up to giving the Knicks ten, quality, old school minutes a night it will be a blessing. If he does not get up to speed, he goes back home to Philly. Why all the whining over a training camp audition?

If we can't get in shape in time for at least 1 or 2 preseason games, then I'd rather one of the younger cats make the team like Copeland or Shurna. No need for old Sheed or any older vets work their way into shape during the season exploding their knees, backs, groins etc. We've seen that episode before it doesn't end good.

Given he walked away once and did not come back last year kind of tells me he is serious this time, and if he can't make a go of it I can see him walking away. He can do this if its not about the money like Antoine walker was.

He has to earn his minutes and without a guarantee on his contract Im not seeing him as a problem.

I don't believe for a second that Sheed won't make the team and that means we'll be wasting a roster spot on a guy that hasn't been effective in 4 years.

Watchin Knicks practice Rasheed seems very determined to be more than the 14th man. As evident by how much weight he lost in just a week. And the guy is a legit 6-10. He will backup Amare. KT will be insurance and help keep practice focused and competitive

"I was just sitting back, watching the way that some of these guys that you call great post players not playing the post," he said. "So it's the passion to come back to show ya'll how post players really need to play in the post. Old-school basketball. Ya'll used to all this new young stuff, high flying and dunking. Nah, that's not basketball. There's terrible footwork by a lot of young guys out here. Let's go back to old-school basics."

Bring it.

Love that quote Earl. Can't stand the direction the league has gone down as far as the young bigs go. 7 footers trying to play like Jordan, Iverson % Kobe
