I think we have the deepest Knicks team I can remember. I wasn't around for the 70s glory years. I say we finish no worse than 4th, but I'm saying 3rd seed. I think Boston is going to be better than last year. If they can play great for 82 games and not take a chunk of the season off like they have the last few seasons they should get the 2 seed. People are too high on Brooklyn and I have a feeling Indiana overachieved a bit last year. Knicks major concern is health. I say 3rd seed.

Melo's option could be used to help the team that year. It would be a 3 year extension versus a 4 or 5 year resigning if the Knicks needed to save some millions that year. A 4yr or 5yr deal could be structured with raises in way that brought the knicks under the Lux tax level in the that year versus a 3yr extension. Both parties would have to agree. Which would help with the trade restriction of being over the Luxury Tax.

And Im just doubting the 38 and over players we signed would play out there 3year deals. And even if they do, they are still trade bait in year 3 when the Knicks can retool threw trades.

anyone off the top of their heads know how NBA treats buyout? Can it be amortized over time as not to hit a cap in one year?

Example Player wants to retire but has a year left on contract and wants a buy out?

Buyouts, Amnesties, Waiver Claims

Are always going to have some cap implications/liabilities, but say in the case of a buyout payments can outlive the life of the contract.....

Say a player has 2yrs left and $30mil still owed. The team and player can agree to a $25mil buyout $12.5mil cap hit per yrs remaining, agreement to pay the full $25mil over a 5yr period.

I was thinking 2nd, but voted 3rd- it's still a newly revamped team, but we are going to rock the house this season.

I am anxious to see the Knicks get off to a sweet start, all the way through to a successful playoff run.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Your getting soft in your old age. The young "HARDCORE" would have been:

"Phuch that Shyt! Knicks beat southbeach pastel sandel wear metros and finish in first place and sweep the Playoffs by 20 pts a night! N*ts go 0-82 and the Russian is sent to a Gulag for the crimes against nature and N*ts sold to Trump who gets gang raped in Marine Park and he sells to the team to some Chinease syndicate sweet talked by Isiah to be its president who brings Marbury in to be player-coach!"

Damn, phuch Miami! The injury bug is going to hit them hard!

Might have to revise the prediction:

Im taking my win total down from 52 to 46 and seed to 6 or 7.

I never have thougth we'd be healthy all season long but I went long on faith that Amare is healthy and he works good with Melo.

Melo will ahve a great season statisticly but how that translates to wins over 48 will just have to work itself thru.

Its a long season and Miami, like any other team is fragile should injury occur. I originally factored Amare being on the floor 70 games.

I said 49 wins earlier but I think I overestimated the team's health. It could be closer to 44 wins and 7th seed.

I voted 4th. Boston and Miami are still better teams and I think the Pacers will be a very good team for many years in Indiana, but will lack the star power to ever win the big one. I like The Knicks to finish 4th, beat the Sixers and then lose to Miami in six games in the second round

Ditto. I figured the team was deep enough to absorb some injuries but not this many before the season even started. If they can get healthy by the all star break and make a run they still might be able to get a higher seed, but thats a big if.
