So Spree was washed up and out of the league. And yet after that whole 40 game stretch that "KVH played well for us", what happened to KVH? Why he had 1 good season with the Bucks and then was over and out. So much for getting younger.

Sprewell self-destructed. Comparing total skillsets, KVH just sucked. KVH couldn't and wouldn't guard you. Sprewell could singlehandedly change games at either end of the floor.

Trading KVH for essentially nothing (giving away Tim Thomas and getting him back for nothing) was pretty much a wash.

Sprewell could singlehandedly change games at either end of the floor for one more year and then he sucked. I was sad to see Spree go too, but the fact is that we got rid of at the right time. Was KVH ever as good a player a Spree? No. But he still had more left in the tank than Spree and he was a legit small forward. He couldn't defend, but he was a helluva rebounder for his position and was a consistent three-point shooter. I remember reading that Sprewell had like 10 dunks for all of the 2003-2004. There was a time Spree got that many dunks in a two game stretch. We sold at the right time.

Even if you're correct and we did sell at the right time getting KVH back is terrible value.

Agreed. KVH was a good player, but not even close to equal value for Spree. I still think if we had kept spree he may have managed to stave off self-destructing for another year at least. Spreewell was in many ways the last true Knick.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

+1
He gets extra points for hating Dolan, too.

I've made this correlation before. We gave away Spree for nothing. KVH = Tim Thomas = Tim Thomas for nothing

I couldnt have been more wrong about the Oakley trade. I will never forget walking to the corner store to get a soda and looking at the cover of the paper showing Oak was out. I felt like someone punched me in the stomach. He was such a tough player, who understood his role and played it to a T. He was an A+ role player.

However, that will probably go down as one of the smartest moves the Knicks ever made in the last 15 years. Camby was younger, more athletic and more dynamic on defense. All of Oak's rebounds, plus a different kind of intimidation in the paint: Shot-Blocking. He wasn't a durable, but he was GREAT value for us. I dare say he was a better player.

The worst sign and trade of sorts was:

1977:Walt Frazier received from Knicks as compensation for Knicks expected signing of veteran free agent Jim Cleamons.

Clyde had another year or two left and they had to decide on him or Earl as both were getting too old and paid well. It was my worst moment as a knick fan and Cleamons never lived up to his contract.

Seeing Clyde in a Cav's jersey was beyond sucky surreal. That and Thurman Munson dying were the beginning of the Dark Ages for me in sports.

I believe Bonn's past stealth negativity has infected this entire board... I can barely think happy thoughts anymore...
