Well said Smackeddog! You've hit the nail right smack on its head. I've been trying to say the same things for about a week now and Nalod & Bonn1997 were calling for me (an ultimate knicks fan)to leave. They've also been pushing for me to be banned because I've expressed the same concerns.

I did no such thing. I merely *predicted* that you might be banned. Frankly I think you guys are too obsessed with the Nets in general and policing content about them in particular. It seems like you're not here to talk about the Knicks, Inf, but rather just to make sure people don't talk about the Nets.

The fact that it would have to be policed to begin with says a lot. The Gallo love has faded. The Nuggets love has faded. The Lin love will go down the same road. Now this fixation with the Nets. I said it from the beginning....The Nets most relevant period of time will be summer 2012. This will be because it's all hype, all promo, all good press. No games played. Just commercials, billboards, jerseys, talking heads and concerts at Barklays. Things change once they start racking up on L's. The Brooklyn Nets are undefeated! Perfect time to talk about them as though they mean anything to the world of sports. Very easy to make something like that seem attractive. Wait until games start and people realize that this is still the Nets. The fixation during the summer of 2012 will be laughable by then.

+1

This is a Knicks subforum, there's an NBA subforum on this site as well. Nets talk are welcome there but not here, let's be clear about that because we've seen way too many OT / Nets talks on this part of the site.

I haven't seen the mods do much about off topic threads on the NY Knicks Forum, I just wish people here would respect that.

Cuz they play in the divison.

Why talk about any other teams for that matter if its a KNicks forum only?

I mean you could say this isn't a team USA forum. So all the talk about Melo's performance in that context is irrelevant too. You guys should chill out. If any threads here have a devastating impact I'm sure the mods will move them.

What frenchknicks said.

So you too want to overrule the decisions of the mods?

Not sure but did they say to stop posting in the NBA Forum when you are talking about non knick stuff?

Not that I'm aware of but exactly what non-Knick stuff means is unclear. If you're talking about how the Nets will impact the Knicks, that's not non-Knick stuff. If you want to be very strict, very few of the threads on this forum are directly on the Knicks. It is odd that it is only the Nets threads that people are throwing hissy fits over. At the moment, these are the top threads (with ones in bold unambiguously referring directly to Knicks basketball):

London Olympic Games
Server Upgrades
Official Free Agency Thread
Tyson Chandler Take on His Olympic Teammates
2012-2013 Power Ranking from Real GM
The Rise of Jeremy Lin
Open Letter to All
For Once I Wholeheartedly Agree with Charles Barkley
Melo Exploding at Olympics
Perfect Storm to Swing Casual Fans
Is Anyone Actually Watching Carmelo Represent the United States
Say "Good Morning" to: Ray Felton, Ronnie Brewer...
Replay of Argentina vs France: Pabloco vs (pretty much) NBA level competition
Starting SG

As might as well ask the mods to wipe out 80% of the threads in this subforum.

Not necessary. If the topics are regarding current Knicks they stay. I think there is a gray rea where Lin and free agency come to play. I think other teams are a topic in game threads and for a short period of time after completing a trade with the Knicks ( I e the nuggets after the melo trade). I don't see how a site with a knick forum, other forum and an nba forum is a spot to discuss the nets. There are yankee, mets, ... Talk threads for other teams. My suggestion is that you start that thread in its appropriate place.

So you're giving the forum unsolicited suggestions on how to post here?

Nope. There is a forum decorum in place and I am just reminding you of how things are set up. Check out the other forums and I think it will give you some perspective on where your net threads should be.

Thank you. I don't know how the first 451 members managed the forum without you.

It was very simple they understood what these words in the forum index mean.

NY Knicks Forum
Let's talk Pure Knicks Love: players, games, trades, Jeff Van Gundy's civic. Anything Knicks related.

NBA Forum
Discuss anything going on around the NBA.

Off-Topic Forum
Off-topic posts that are non-basketball related: music, other sports, or anything the forums users have in common. Please keep it clean.

Did you really say that we are too obsessed with the NYETS? That is just so funny. It's really the other way around. On our own forum there are people who are forever trying to persuade us to like and pay attention to the Nets and become Nets fans. How many times must we say don't care about the Nyets. We simply don't want to share our forum. Your obsession with Nets talk on our boards has reached a point where it's out of control. To come on our forum and create threads that's supporting people to jump ship is downright disrespectful. How can we talk Knicks basketball when there are intruders trying to invade our space? Frankly you are trying to use our forum to make the Nyets relevant.
We will be able to talk a lot of Knicks Basketball once all the Nyets threads are removed from our NY Knicks forum and placed in the NBA forum where they belong. THIS IS OUR HOUSE!

infinitilov100 Would you please make out a list of approved subject matter that the rest of us on this site are allowed to post? We dont know and we need guidance. So far, thanks to you, all we know is that we are not allowed to talk about Jeremy Lin anymore, we are not allowed to talk about the Nets and we are not allowed to say Dolan is wrong in anyway... ever. Honestly, I cant see how we have all managed so long without your quick wit, intelligent wordplay and clever guidance. Why, if you werent here to set us straight there may be anarchy on this site, maybe even *gasp*, free speech! Could you imagine that?

Seriously though, are you and some of your cohorts being paid by MSG or something. This is surreal.

Haha. Honestly, I don't think MSG has to or needs to pay anybody to support the Knicks. There are so many fans out there who are just true die hard Knicks fans. Maybe you should ask some people if they are being paid by the Nets and their Russian billionaire owner to come to the Knicks forum and prove that the Nets are relevant. Fair is fair. This is our forum.

So to comply with "Only Knicks" policy the thread about Knicks-Nets game should be named:
"Knicks are playing you know who in Brooklyn"
And the post should be something like this:
"Knicks lost to this f..ers because the point you know who from this bunch of losers hit 8 3-pointers and center of this bunch of scrabs was killing us inside..."
If we do posting this way we will always be talking only about Knicks...

I think whenever we mention any other team or a player on another team, the mods should do that. This is a Knicks forum after all! For example, I have translated this sentence below:

"On July 11, 2012, Camby was traded to the New York Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal that also involved Toney Douglas, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, and two future draft picks going to the Rockets."

"On July 11, 2012, Camby was traded to the New York Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal that also involved ***** *******, **** *********, ****** ******, and two future ***** ***** going to the *******."

It's a little tricky because on July 10th, Camby was not a Knick and his name would have to have been bleeped out and all the others could legally be stated but today the reverse applies. (The draft picks are future non-Knicks. So they must be bleeped out too.) This policy will take a little extra work, but it will help purify this site.

No, I said ones actions dictate banning. All are welcome.

Your first 50 posts since your last exile was whooping it up that your all despondent about any subject not knick and your canned response that all should leave to join the N**ts site if they were not +100000000000000000000000000 behind the knicks.

Maybe you should come clean about your past names and who you were. I think you've been here a few times under different names.

This "open letter" I think clarifies some good points going forward about thread topics and where they should be placed.

Problem is the Knick forum is where the traffic is. We talk olympics there. What Charles Barkley says, and other things not +10000000000000 related to the Knicks.

In the end, supply and demand dictate traffic. If a topic is not of interest it gets ignored, slides down the list and goes away.

That seems to be the best way instead of some hyper poster with new meds rally "whose with me or not?"

We all here to discuss KNick basketball.

The Gallo love has faded. The Nuggets love has faded. The Lin love will go down the same road. Now this fixation with the Nets.

Thankfully though, we can now get back to commenting on the Nyets unfettered (while the love is still in the air), which is our God-given right under the Constitution and is the American way! America ees great country, no?

I say we start posting Liberty threads here in the Knicks forum! Take the casual Knicks "fans" to the WNBA, if the Nyets plan doesn't prove palatable! Drive the dissenters insane!

You guys might actually need to go back and read the 2nd Amendment. What subjects that are allowed and/or moderated on a blog are not a Second Amendment right. The second amendment gives you the right to start your own blog with your own rules and on a topic of your choosing. As long as it's not treasonous or conspiring in illegal activities.

This thread is laughable. Started by a Nets sympathizer who grew up in Brooklyn who is the one proposing board rules to allow threads for the sole purpose of discussing the Nets. Supported by a Nets fansite owner and posters who seem to be Knick haters or fans who are perhaps so frustrated that a majority of what they post is negative concerning the Knicks....and who seem to only support the notion of "Nets talk" on this Knicks board in order to keep another outlet available to spew vitriol towards the Knicks. Anyone who challenges this is "trying to make the rules" or even "not for free speech".

Andrew and Martin will ultimately do what is right for how they want their site organized, whatever that is in terms of moderating threads based on the interest level and traffic. People come to this site to get news and read about the Knicks, after all, it is a Knick fan site. As an avid sports fan and site "reader" for many NY teams, I know I would take offense to say a NY Giants site that had a significant number of Jets, Eagles or Cowboys threads. Why would I continually go there as there when I am a biased fan and want to read/discuss the Giants. The same holds true here. As a Knicks site, I come here to read and get news about the Knicks. I would also expect a strong negative reaction to any threads and discussion on our cross town rivals. Perhaps Bonn, that is what you are hoping for?

The reality is that for some fans it is hard to stomach that the rivalry between Knicks and Nets is even possible.
But Nets are good team now and get a prime location and huge possible fan base.
And I am talking the Knicks and how bad they fall to have the Knicks fan fear some f..ng Nets to grab some fan base in NY.
I do not consider fans who only looking on their bellowed team without comparing to other teams the real fans. This is just narcissism.
