Owners were weary of big cable owner buying the team and afraid they'd make too much money and outspend them.
Thats funny! The league benefited from the knicks being the depository for bad contracts!
I am freaking stoked about this rivalry. The knicks have to earn what good will they took for granted.
IM tired of this "Mecca" bull shyt and "worlds most famous" bull Shyt when the knicks have not produced a champion in almost 40 years!
The Nets are in a prime position to grab the city.
I don't laugh at nets as they could be pretty good. If BroPez can stay healthy they are a strong threat at all positions. They are a balanced starting core with no Holes.
They are small but fundamentally constructed.
We as fans often over look the sum of the parts. Knick fans overestimate because we add "Names" and the chemistry has not been there.
We than hate on the media who pours cold water on our starphuch but then watch it all come to fruition.
Nets have the names and we'll have to see what comes of it.
Im not laughing at anyone until we eclipse them.
In time it all gets sorted out.
Nets aren't grabbing anything. They'll have to resort to gimmickry and promo nights like "Star Wars" night or "Asian Heritage" night like in Citi Field. Maybe do some obscene season ticket deals. Otherwise, Brooklyn based Knicks fans will remain Knicks fans. NJ Nets fanbase was pretty non-existent. I know I used to sit in those empty seats at Continental/Izod arena for cheap tickets just for the hell of it. Even when the Nets were making those Finals runs, you could still see plenty of empty seats, and hear the artificial crowd noise through the PA system. Nets will not overtake the Knicks in this city, not in our lifetime. If they somehow land Dwight, then we'll revisit...
wait, Hump got a $12M per contract!?
And to think, that's only the fourth worst contract Brooklyn took on this offseason. Joe Johnson $90M over 4 years, Brook Lopez $60M over 4 years, and Gerald Wallace $40M over 4 years are all much, much worse. At least Humphries' contract is only for 2 years.
And yet they seem to be getting nothing but praise- if we had signed the same players to the same deals, we would be a laughing stock.
It's like when you read the offseason reviews/grades, and the same writer will say: Ray Allen- great signing! Steve Nash- great signing! Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby- oh! They're old! The Knicks just got older! They're 40 years old! Ray Allen and Steve Nash are old too, and could just as easily be washed up in a season or two.
