No one needs to try to make him into Marbury. Mr. .470 does this on his own.

Whats he done as a Knick? Quit on a coach and team. Commented about other player's contract. Lured great teammates like JR (they share the same school of thought on shot selection).

Whats he done before the Knicks? Whats his trackrecord of leadership? Playoff wins? Do people see a great player to build around? Or a guy who sucker punches you and runs away?

Melo isnt Marbury. But LIKE Marbury his arrival is the start of something lame and twice Melo killed something exciting.

To me he's ARod. He thinks hes the best. The all star games, wax statues... he's a good player. He's got skills and talent. Enough to get you into the playoffs every year where his iso-ball utterly falls short against NBA playoff caliber teams. I dont hate him, but what has Melo given me to like? At least ARod had the one great postseason and was easily the best player on the field that year and LED Yanks to a WS win. Some of those late HRs were epic. Kind of what you expect from the highest paid player in the game. What has Melo delivered? Everyone is just waiting.... Im sure this is the year. Chuckbuck got a text from Dolan say so.

Melo didn't cost us Walsh. Dolan cost us Walsh when he tried to nickle and dime him. Maybe it was a s ign of things to come.
2.) In the end, Melo cost us Gallo, Chandler and Mozgov. How can you not do that deal if it's offered to you.
3.) Melo had nothing to do with the Lin deal. I'm sure he didn't tell Lin to get a Poison pill contract and I'm positive that he had no contact with Morey during the entire process.
Melo has his faults, but let's be objective.
oh I agree... I dont mean Melo cost us Walsh like he wanted Donnie gone or something, it was 100% Dolan no ifs ands or butts. Its 100% colateral damage and not Melo's fault, but Melo coming here ended up costing us Walsh.

Bottom line though is Melo created a bidding war. One team (Nets) were desperate. The other team (Knicks) only had a desperate owner. Once Dolan became smitten with Melo (god knows why) good decision making went bye bye

You say it's not all his fault & yet you persist in throwing inflammatory jabs at him designed to rile everybody up. I think that's what i'm really trying to understand about this, is there some sort of need to have a hated villain even within a family structure. I mean it's one thing when we're hating on Lebron or somebody else from another team, that we have a rivalry with but there seems to be some perverse "need" by NY sports fans to "hate" on their own players. I just don't get it???

I dont hate on Melo. Tell me one inflammitory thing I have said. I dont need to make him a villian, and only once in my whole sports fan life have I ever rooted for a player on a team I love to fail, and that was Marbs.

When Melo plays great Im happy. Im a Knick fan. I just dont pretend he's something he's not. Thats what seems to upset folks.

You constantly trash the guy. I guess it's ok if after you do it you say your a knick fan and you want him to do well.?

if saying:
Melo isnt a top 10 player
A team that runs its offense through a 47% scorer will never win in the playoffs
Melo trade costed us picks, cap space
Melo quit on the coach

Then yes. I trash him.

What Im waiting for some some return on the picks, players and massive salary that comes with the player. Maybe this will be the year? I hope it is. Its my opinion for him to suceed here we need to run the offense through a healthy Amare and make Melo the closer... like Lakers do with Kobe and their high % post players.

Crush.. Im a Knick fan. Tell me right now, in clear easy to understand language why I should be enamored or in love with what Carmelo has brought to the team I love? What quality is it I should be excited about as the face of my franchise. Do tell... I seem to be missing it.

Why do people get so upset that a guy who has brought nothing to the team in 1.5 years isnt univerally loved and adored? Maybe some playoff wins will help me appreciate his game more? Lets hope

I think your right, and I think management does look at him this way... but the problem remains doesnt it? His fault or not its Melo.

Bonafide super star? Whats a superstar? What makes Melo a superstar? Personal achievments? Scoring titles? MVPs? First team NBA? Does Melo have those?

Team achievements? Playoff wins? Titles?

Do tell... I would like to hear. What am I missing?

You are right. Lets love Amare who had 1/2 of a good season and missed both playoff series. Thats the face I wanna see. Oh but at least Amare is a tenacious defender!

LMAO.. This stuff is beyond entertaining...

Some of these dudes are going to blow a gasket in their brains, hating on the Knicks so gotdamn bad.

No wonder fans from other teams come here and laugh at these kinds of posts- a significant amount of whaty they read in these threads about our star players, especially Carmelo, is no different that the crap that a card-carrying Knicks hater would say.

...and they go on and on... for days, weeks, months and even YEARS about the SAME, recycled BULLSHEET.

Let's hurry up with tthis exodus of those who are too punked out to be Knciks fans anymore.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

How dare y'all feel differently than I do! HATERS! PUNKS!

Dude. Why so serious?

I don't hate Melo or anything but it's not crazy or pure HATE to see why he might rub some basketball fans/Knicks fans the wrong way. You're allowed to root for a team without blindly loving all the players on it. (Ex: Mets fans and Roger Cedeno. Yankees fans and AJ Burnett)

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

My original question wasn't to persuade anyone to take a side on this issue but just to try to figure out why NY fans (but i guess you could say sportsfans or humans in general), seem to so desperately need a person to blame or kick to make themselves feel better???
In ancient Native American culture this person was often called a "sin eater" and was randomly chosen & then fed cursed food that was filled with the sins of everyone in the village. then after a wild night of partying & drinking he was kicked out of the village to wander in the wilderness alone & die. So that everyone else could have a good or better life.
Maybe we should just waive him (or Amare) now so that all of you will get better jobs & your wives will magically get hotter and all will be right in the village of Nueva York.

No, we would just have to identify a new sin-eater.

Well with Melo the explanation is pretty simple: He is the franchise. He makes the most $. That's why him and STAT will get the lions share of hate when things go badly and love when things go well.

Do u think melo will ever get as weird as marbury. Like will he start streaming videos of himself sitting on a bed wit his shirt off with another man singing Lean on Me or even better eating Vaseline. As strange as Marbury was or is the guy gave back a lot to the city of NY

LOl.. I find it too funny as it is. Did my post express that I was taking this silly hate from pseudo-fans that seriously? Or seriously at all?

It's a joke, bruh... Just as much of a joke as those who constantly make disparaging remarks about the Knicks team, with nothing positive to say at all, yet proclaim to be "Knicks fans".

...and before you or anyone else gets hypersensitive and/or defensive, I am not saying that Carlemo is above criticism, but those who are guilty of senselessly hating on him just because they think it's the popular thing to do, or becasue they are still seething over a trade that they should be adult ebnough to put behind them by now are the ones who I am talking about.

I also put it out there, knowing that those who are guilty of specifically that, would react as if my post was directed at them- which it was. THe posters who aren't biased against players and who9 see the godd with the bad, and speak on it as such, likely won't respond, since my post was not referring to them at all.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
