Kind of redundant once Shump comes back (good defender, good finisher, can't shoot a lick)
Would prefer someone who can space the floor but at this point we have to take anyone willing to play for the min.

Maurice Evans? Slightly better from 3 (Brewer is brutal from outside) and also a decent defender.

Well, I guess on the depth chart JR Smith is the starter. Which I wouldn't mind, his talent is immense!

James White subs.

Mix in some 2 pg sets.

I really like the Brewer option. He is the better defender between him and Evans. He also runs the floor and moves and cuts well to the basket. A bit like a guy we used to have on this team who shall remain nameless for no particular reason.

The thing with Evans is that he would bring 3-point shooting at shooting guard. J.R. does it but he is a streaky shooter. I'd suggest to get a three point specialist as that other shooting guard we get, so even when Shump comes back, he will still be a weapon off the bench.

Like Maurice Evans. Zwerling also mentioned Carlos Delfino, Jodie Meeks. Of the 3 I think Evans might be the best defender. I've seen Delfino score but can't recall whether he's an asset or a liability on the other end. Ditto with Meeks who I think might be undersized.

Hopefully none of these guys is getting offered the bi-annual or mini-mid exception.

Also..JEREMY LIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNN !

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Courtney lee? Foye? Bellinari?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I like Meeks, Pietrus, or Delfino if possible.

I vote Delfino, for the simple reason he won't kill us anymore. And for that matter let's trade for Dunleavy, Jr.

Unless they get another SG I agree with those who say it will probably be JR. How long he stays the starter depends on his decision making. Woodson lost it a few times last season because Smith was making poor choices on the floor.

GoNyGoNyGo wrote:This is a tough one. This summer, NY has unloaded all its youth and promise except for Iman Shumpert. That was only because Nash turned NY down and went to LA.

Going forward, as I will, because I am Knick fan since the 1973 championship, here is what I am seeing.

A team that is built around a very good player in Carmelo but who has a questionable work ethic and attitude. This keeps him from being ELITE so far.
A team with a PF that has many injuries to get over just to perform. When healthy he is a force but does not defend.
A team with a C what can defend and lead but no offensive game other than dunks and putbacks.
A team with a 40 year old PG, who was once the best in the game but who most likely will not play 82 games and will be a question mark all season.
A team without a real SG. JR is a malcontent who throws up shots and thinks it is his job to take shots before Carmelo and STAT.
A team with a PG who is overweight and also has a questionable work ethic. WHen in shape and motivated Felton is a decent player but has no special quality to his game.
A team with an injured young SG. The most exciting player on the team with what he can be. Unfortunately, with his injury when he comes back he may find it tough to break into a veteran laden team that will limit his growth offensively. A player who will be traded at some point.
A team with a bench full of older Veterans who may have one year left and may not. Who knows.

A team that is now old and stripped of 2nd round picks and only a couple of first round picks for the next 4 years.
A team that is over the cap and cannot make moves freely.
A team that is owned by an emotional owner.
A team that is coached by an average coach, who has not won much at all and coaches a real boring system of ISOLATION.
A team that is not good enough to win a Championship.

SG is a hole. They need to get someone else there ASAP. As of now, JR will start at shooting guard and he will be a disaster. He will move back to the bench. They will struggle to find someone else until Shumpert gets back. Kidd will be overused and eventually break down. Going into the playoffs, Felton will be the starting PG. Prigioni will be playing big minutes. Shumpert will be working his way back but not there at all this season. The backcourt is not good and lacks depth.

The front court, if healthy, can be very good again. Hopefully, Camby and KT can play a bit and bring some more D to the 2nd unit. I am concerned about Novak getting open looks when Kidd is not on the floor.

This is the most I've seen you write since the NYDailynews Forum days. lol

I think Delfino would be an ideal pickup. He can shoot and pass and he's a sold perimeter defender. He can also play SF.

I don't think we are gonna get the top crop of FA 2's.

Lee is probably my ideal choice.

When it comes to realistic shots....

Chris Douglas Roberts. For some reason I always liked him.
Maurice Evans. Let's be honest. The 2 guard spot belongs to Shump when he gets back and this guy will probably accept it the best.
Brandon Rush. I don't think he would come here in these circumstances at this time for the money we have. A poor man's Paul George?

Dark Dark Dark Dark Dark horse....Rashad McCants. Hey, you never know.

JR Smith will start until Shumpert gets back. I'm certain there will be a lineup like Kidd, Novak, Melo, Thomas, Amar'e on the floor at the same time, and just take mid range jump shots over the other team

When that squad is on the floor I see not much rebounding just people hanging around the wing.

Word is the warrior will match offers for Rush up to the midlevel of $5M. Like him even tho he has a rep of not being the smartest or hardworking player.

Mo Evans is probably the most realistic. Wouldn't be mad at it. You're the first person I know who mentioned CDR. Dude got that tricky game. Interesting

I think we need a shooter, and he's worse than fields in the shot department.

Evans is a bum in my opinion, I think delfino just went to Boston, I think rush is getting re-signed, and CDR isn't really a good 3 pt shooter either. I like Jodie Meeks or Randy Foye but someone else might grab them.

All of the above and he has a pretty good looking wife, from what I here. Front row eye-candy.

If he accepts what we give him he would be a good fit, and at 30 (next month, I think), he would reduce the Knicks' average age.

Boston may also be looking at him, but like us, they cannot offer him that much $$.
