Yeah I've been wondering that too.

Funny that reports of Knicks not matching on Lin and trading for Felton come out Saturday night. Sunday morning we hear Jason Kidd has been arrested for driving drunk.

I drink to forget, too, Jason. I drink to forget, too.

I'm drinking right now!

All of those guys could have been retained if they'd approached them with reasonable contracts on July 1st.

But, nope, they had to get used by Steve Nash who said "NY was never really an option." All that cost us was Fields and pissed off Lin who then decided he wanted to go to Houston for real.

This is one of the most horribly managed off-seasons I've ever seen.

Lin, Fields and Jeffries were three of the best players on the team last year and some of the only reasons the team made the playoffs along with Melo, Tyson and Shumpert.

So the Knicks essentially gave up half of their functional rotation, overpaid Novak, retained JR Smith (they'll have to overpay him next off-season), downgraded PG, signed two 40yr old backups... and traded like five second round picks in the process if you count this year's... Shump is out for half the season to boot.

oh, yeah, Amar'e Stoudemire is now the longest tenured Knick and he punched a fire extinguisher thus ruining any chance of being competitive against the Heat.

Do people think that the record next year will be better winning %?

There is no guarantee that Fields and Lin would've stayed if we offered them deals. In Lin's case, he definitely wouldn't have signed on for the maximum contract we could have offered him. I wouldn't have either. As for Fields, well, nobody on this board thought he was going to wrangle a $20 million deal. Despite what Toronto says, there's no way in heck they are thrilled with overpaying Fields. Toronto made a gamble and now they have to live with it. Can't be too upset with the Knicks on that one.
Jeffries? Good role player, with heart. He wanted to play for us. But c'mon. How much burn is Jeffries getting for either team in this year's NBA finals. Or the Celtics and Pacers. He's a good passer and he plays the passing lanes well, but let's not overrate him. Houston barely played him when we traded him the first time and he'll probably get little to no burn in Portland.
It's not the best off-season this Franchise ever had, but it's not the worst either. Heck, I thought Jerry Reese had a worst offseason last year and the G-men won the Super Bowl.
I think the Knicks will improve their record this year with a full training camp and few injuries to our big three.

That's why I wasnt too keen on the idea of bringing hkm back. Always injured much rather have KT as a locker room presense and a guy who along with camby, kidd & tyson has been to the finals and understands defense and effort

I prefer Jeffries. When healthy he is able to guard every lineup on the floor while doing an admirable to great job. That's the type of guy you like if you are building an elite d. Kt can guard two spots. On paper it's even but for what we need I prefer Jeffries
I just hope that people will like me

I was excited about next season because I thought Lin and Shump could improve, Amar'e might bounce back a bit, Fields might bounce back.

I thought this team was building continuity. That's what you need to win at a high level. You'll notice the Heat didn't win it all their first year together.

Now all the continuity of Lin, Fields, Jeffries, etc is gone.

A new bunch of strangers past their prime. Another 7 seed.

i understand them not matching fields because taht was a bad contract bit fater winning the birds rights case they whoould have negotiated with both right away and locked them up, jr smmith is a good deal, and even camby despite his age will make a good backup for chandler. i dotn liek the felton deal because i think lin is betetr and we also lost a good foreign prospect

Here we go, the "we gave away assets" crowd is returning for another round of whining to express their appreciation for:

1) Landry Fields incredible jumper and ability to disappear at will. Now worth 20 million on the Canadian black market.
2) Jorts not playing half the season.
3) Fishlips...we talking about Fishlips????
4) Dan Gadzurick. Say that with me, Dan Gadzurik.
5) A second round draft pick

Yes, that was soooooo reminscent of what was being built during the '90's... just like all these other "assets":
1) Gallo, Denver's newest entry to the HOF
2) Wilson Chandler, assistant executive mayor of Nanchung's IR
3) Felton...oh wait, we got him back
4) Moz...the guy who singlehandedly brought you www.howthe****didBlakeGriffindothat.com, now working full time keeping Nene's cubicle clean.

when in actuality:
We ARE, in a way, recreating the 1990's: Kurt Thomas, Camby...

Lin is a 23 year old asset. At worse he is better than Felton. I have been watching the Linlights from his incredible run and you don't do those things unless you know how to play.

If Dolan has any brains, Lin will be matched.

Rockets wouldnt of lived with it. they would of pulled the offer once they realized they werent getting Nash.Landry didnt sign it until after Nash was traded.I hope we get a chance to F up a trade for them sometime in the near future

you sure are optimistic if you think we're heading for a 7 seed.

There is no guarantee this roster (without Lin) makes the play offs. We added three guys over the hill, and one shaped like one. What if they go down?

We have Chandler, Melo and Stat and Chuckie Smith.

And who is the PG if Kidd & Felton go down?

What kind of efficient, dribble the air out of the ball offense are we going to have to suffer through?

No guarantee Lin stays healthy for a full season- that is a big question mark with him.

But I like our chances better with him, than without.

We let him go for nothing, this off season is worst than a bust - its a disaster.

This offseason is a bust
