I would say so...how do you deal with them again....trust is gone

Really? My employer gave me a 5% raise above the initial offer when they found out I had another offer. I guess we're both *******s.

I look at like this: Houston run by an office full of pricks, and decided to give Lin a better deal. It's like a mini-H20 setting. What's Lin supposed to do, say, 'NO! DON'T PAY ME!'

anyway, not really the end of the world. Lin either lives up to a ONE-YEAR max salary or doesn't. Either way, when everyone expires, we find out if Lin is as good as Linsanity

Also - I haven't seen anyone say this - but I thought I read either here or in the press that people basically thought Houston did us a favor with the contract - Lin's agent probably went back and said - either up it or we're finding someone else to deal with. And then there was the Camby trade which might have been read as done in response to Lin's deal.

Trust shouldn't be in anyone's vocabulary when it comes to business. Just get rid of the word. Trust and business don't mix and they never will.

Plenty of employers change offers once they find out the initial one was not good enough. Are they all pricks because of that?

In NBA history has there anything as ridiculous as Lin getting cut from Houston because they have other PG's they like better. Then they get rid of all the PG's they liked better not even a year ago and give the guy they cut a contract with 15 million for a season in it. knicks have done some stupid things over the years but nothing as outlandish as this

If he stinks in year three, he either doesn't get renewed, or he's got value as an ending contract that goes to a team with no plans to bring him back.

Fields goes, but we need to match Lin and I will be crushed if we let him walk for nothing.

We fully knew he could end up with this kind of contract, and he may very well be worth every penny.

Maybe with Woodson's system, we don't care about what kind of PG we put out there.

Maybe there is a whole season of 'toss the ball to Melo' and stand back.

That was so efficient for us last year

BINGO - Melo is after all an Elite Scorer disguised as a black hole on offense.

It's only wrong because most fans are unable to separate the financial part of the sport with how loyal they want a player to be to their team. This is a business, it's a job for players. They are perfectly entitled to go out and get as much as they can on the open market. All things considered, the Lin deal is not a bad one. The Knicks are already saddled with the big three contracts, Kidd, Camby, etc,,,,and will be over the Apron threshold. Signing Lin back is a prudent business decision at the reported salary. All this bluster by fans that he is disloyal or not the same is BS.

“I think the kid was great,” Larry Brown said to me about Lin a week or so ago. “It is a wonderful story. But I look at him as a terrific backup in the NBA. I may be wrong, I really want him to be successful, but I think if you overpay him for the interest that he created, that’s not the best thing.”

This decision to go after Felton wreaks of Mike Woodson (who many have said isn't too fond of Lin's game and also happens to be friends with Larry Brown)....I haven't liked Woodson since we made him head coach and not I'm fully against him if he is truly driving this decision to let Lin walk.

Even if Lin's ceiling is as a terrific 6th man (can be quite valuable on a contender), you still re-sign him at this price because at under 25 years old, that is what the market dictates.

I would have loved to see Lin paly here and learning from Kidd, Kidd said that was a big part of why he came here. Now we went and got Felton all that is a moot point. I like Felton and I like Lin. But I think Lin will get stifled by Woody and I would rather watch him grow and realize his potential. Felton has no potential beyond what he is, Lin can be an elite PG. Too bad our coach and our Diva are not interested in seeing that happen. Politics is a bitch.

+1 Meloball doesn't need a player like Lin, so why pay him all that money? Or maybe Lin knows he's going to be traded for Cp3 soon anyway so why stay?

FWIW.....Lin's trainer thinks we will match...although Jeffries doesn't think so.

Eeesh, can't take this crap....I almost don't want to read anything until something becomes official.

I keep on reading stuff like this but, honestly, those guys have no more insight into Dolan's and Grunwald's thought process than anyone else.

Day One, Sometime in October

Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton square during the first full speed five on five. No one dares get between them as angry taunts turn into a scuffle that interrupts practice for 20 minutes. Memories of Antony Mason vs Xavier McDaniel. Mike Woodson smiles. Pablo Priglioni calls next.

JR Smith refines his defensive moves against Steve Novak, still learning how to shake free on the perimeter. Iman Shumpert rides a bicycle on the sidelines.

Carmelo gets his jumpshot snatched by James White in mid air. The video goes viral.

Kurt Thomas gets physical with Amar'e Stoudemire and hisses, "baby I'm back." Chris Copeland never suits up but wears some nice suits.

Marcus Camby and Tyson Chandler are inseparable. Art Parakhouski lugs all the equipment bags from the hotel lobby to the team bus for a month.

Glen Grunwald pulls off an opening night blockbuster that no one sees coming.

If Lin wants Houston that bad, let him go. It looks like we're already moving in the direction of putting Lin behind us. The Knicks need to work toward putting a winning product on the floor this coming season, with or without Lin.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

If the Knicks don't match so be it. Linsanity was the most fun I have had as a Knick fan, but I am a Knicks fan not a Lin fan. When we play the rockets Crazy Eyes will put Lin on his ass if he thinks he will have a big game on us.
