I have seen this refereed in several threads by several posters. WTF. No one has ever said that they would get an exception and to the best of my knowledge no article has referenced this happening.

So, why do posters keeps saying it?

I know that Mike Miller and The Heat will get an exemption of 2.9m, half of what Miller makes this season, if Miller cannot play for medical reasons.
I don't know if this would require him to retire or if it is just for this season, if he is unable to play, then continue on with his contract next season, so I am not sure how it works....

GTFO with this crap. You do not know that the Heat will get an exemption. You don't even know if Miller will or will not play next season.

You say so yourself: you don't even know how it works.

Stop posting about Heat and Miller.

Pablo is 35 but should be a very good experienced 3rd PG. Lin will gain a wealth of knowledge between him and kidd.

Lin's ability to make plays for others right now come primarily from his awesome ability to penetrate and kick or finish. Kidd & Pablo will teach him when to shoot and when to get others going. Primarily Melo

Knicks had 4 point guards on the roster last yeAr. I think this is a great move. The Knicks are being very resourceful in getting players. This is their third time this offseason dipping into the euro talent pool if you flight white.

Q: What's the hold up with Mike Miller? As much as I appreciate the guy, he's holding up $5 million a year that we could use on a free agent if he's not returning. -- Jorge, Miami.

A: Only that's not the case. Either with retirement or "amnesty," Miller's departure merely would ease the Heat's luxury-tax position, not clear salary-cap space. The only way a Miller move provides an immediate benefit is if he were to be declared by the NBA to be out for the season following potential back surgery. That would give the Heat a one-time injured-player exception of half of Miller's 2012-13 salary to be used on a one-year contract this offseason.

does anyone else think we should be signing 2 young players/2 year contract *team options* that are undrafted or D League, to learn of all these veterans before they retire?
We pretty much have no 2nd round picks, if we actually take the time to develop some projects, and become successful, we would have assets for that we mortgaged from our future in trades.

Or

Do we assemble the best 15 deep lineup we can that are capable of contributing?

I mean just watching football and QB's, many great QB's learn from the sidelines of the greats for a couple of years.
I don't know if it is fair to use the same comparison but I feel we should be AT LEAST sign 2 players that we can develop for our future.

Kidd/Camby/Pablo will most likely all be retiring as Knicks, while they still have game in them, its a great time for ROOK's to practice with them, watch their work outs, routines, and open their ears to these vets.
Kidd, Camby, Tyson Chandler, Melo are all players that are top players in they positions, there is much to pass down, that a willing learner can absorb.
Even Jeffries if he returns, its not the prettiest of games, but we have some great vets/HOF/ and seem willing to pass down their knowledge.

Only real "youth" we have on our roster is Lin and Iman, maybe Jr SMith. And that is it....

the league never grants injury exceptions unless a player is going to miss a whole season. and even then it seems to be somewhat random. maybe there are more rules that i don't know about, but i have NEVER seen the league grant an injury exception for a player that isn't going to miss the whole season.

otherwise, wouldn't chicago get one for drose? and orlando get one for dwight?

there's no injury exception for the knicks.

Google, it is a great tool, and you need to release some of your stress/anger, not out on me though.

That's evidence that Miami is gonna get the exception? Some writer answering a question about a side bar on Mike Miller? Nowhere does it say anything about 1) Mike NEEDING surgery, 2) Mike GETTING surgery 3) Mike Miller being OUT for the full year 4) NBA deciding Miami WILL get an exception.

The writer could have put any player into the slot answer and said the same thing. Like this:

The only way a Baron Davis move provides an immediate benefit is if he were to be declared by the NBA to be out for the season following potential knee surgery. That would give the Knicks a one-time injured-player exception of half of Baron's 2012-13 salary to be used on a one-year contract this offseason.

BTW, apparently Google doesn't allow one to use some common sense after searching and reading?

Do you have to pay the Heat for Mike Miller's injury IF it happens?

You said there were no statements and articles about it and I showed you.

this goes to my exact point and what I originally posted: Why do posters keep bringing it up if even the Heat or Miller do not? Cause neither have.

And if they have, and you certainly posted and/or made an assumption that they have, please provide a link. Because you still have not.

But we are all agreeing that it is unfair....

We are just repeating what we see and voicing our opinion on the issue.

I just didn't appreciate how you went off on me about it

Did I ever say or do something that offended you or something?

no, we are agreeing that it's a total crap point, has nothing to do with this topic, is not being sought after by the Heat, and that Miller will retire before having surgery rendering your whole point pointless

You are the one that is going off for no reason, so WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS POINTLESS.

You might have something stuck between your 2 cheeks, I think you have sat on something, and it is pricking inside of you.
Remove it and you will feel better.

RonROn Impersonating Martin, certain things are a little extra dramatic, and cut short, enjoy...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Martin:

"Where do you read that Mike Miller is retiring?

I am sick of hearing people saying he is retiring.

I don't want to hear it again, I don't want ANYONE TO SAY THAT HE IS RETIRING AGAIN, he is not retiring.

Who said he is retiring? Did Mike Miller say it? GTFO"

Did Pat Riley say it?

Did his mother tell you?

Did his doctor say it?

DO you know his doctor?

Are you related to his doctor?

Are you sure he said it?

Do you have a link?

It says he might retire, HE DOES NOT SAY HE IS RETIRING.

Learn how to read...

He will die before he retires, HE WILL NOT RETIRE, making your whole pont pointless"

RonRon: WTF???

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something is really wrong with you bro, don't think crap out on me, and take your meds

I think Prigioni will surprise people. He's a veteran, pass-first point guard from the Spanish league. And over there, they play a short season. So every game is like a playoff game. Let's go, you 35-year old rook!
