I think Woodson has taken a shine to him and will work with him to play smarter.

It's $2.8M this year with an option for next year. He'll prob opt out and try to get a full MLE from the Knicks. Knicks will have early bird rights at that point and no one will be able to offer more than them. They're in a good position with him. If he plays well, they can retain him. If not, he becomes a trade chip or let him go.

We can't look to this guy to be the 2nd option - nor should he view himself as that. Other than that I'm fine with him at the price.

i mean, lin's knee died, shump's knee exploded and amar'e punched a fire extinguisher.

JR became the second option by default. that's not woodson's plan or anything.

thankfully the team should have two actual playmakers next season and maybe amar'e has learned from his stupidity and matured a little.

i'd feel much more comfortable if the knicks were to grab another playmaker like cj watson or foye or something or maybe prigioni, just in case.

They will add another SG. Doesn't have to be a playmaker. We have plenty with lin, kidd, melo, JR & stat. Just has to be able to actually hit an open shot. Think the polar opposite of Landry Fields and Foye would be perfect since he might take the $2mil. And he can play backup pg in an emergency if Lin/Kidd miss any time

on what planet is JR a playmaker? he can create his own shot. but the day he creates a shot for anyone other than novak will be a special one.

i think the knicks could use a third playmaker with the potential fragility of kidd and lin.

that's why i favor foye and watson. they can create a little and play SG, too. and shoot.

well I meant JR can create plays for himself not others. Adding Foye would make the team complete. Then you fill out the roster with practice material. Or who knows maybe another few good vets would wanna join the party. There might be some good ones after the market dries up next week. Or maybe the next Linsanity & Novakaine dleague fodder

yeah, i agree the team should be patient. they'll get at least one really solid player for a veteran minimum.

i'd be thrilled to add shawne williams, jared jeffries and any kind of competent guard.

His on again/off again relationship with playing defense has to improve, and he has to play more within the flow of the offense. Hopefully, he is helped by participating in a pre-season, and also, as someone mentioned, the presence of Kidd.
