When you add the Lin offer sheet by Houston to the mix, I think it all makes sense. We're paying 29mil for Lin instead of the possible 40mil + poison pill people were speculating about. I think both of these trades ultimately work in our favor as well as the Rockets...except they Rockets are the only ones who are gambling...our moves are pretty solid.

Grunwald is working magic so far...who thought last month that we'd have Lin, Novak, Camby, Kidd, and likely Jeffries and maybe JR on the roster next season??

Now when Tyson sits or gets in foul trouble Camby can step right in and there is no drop off in interior defense, great move by the Knicks, deepest team in the league if we can keep JR.

gunsnewing - worrying about the Nets is a game for weak hearts.

Glen Grunwald is not finished.

C'mon Son!, Do you really miss Toney Douglas?

Is this a joke? All players we sent to them are worthless. Only Jorts is decent and he may be waived by them.

We're starting to resemble the 2011 Champion Dallas Mavericks , got a very solid bench and good role players and one true Superstar In Melo just like Dirk , I like what I see.

Losing Jorts stings a bit but he would've been 3rd on the depth chart behind camby & JJ2. We can't afford to pay 2nd rd dleaguers so whatev. As long as we keep whatever 1st round picks we still have if any. We do have next years thats to leagues rules. I know that much!

Can't wait to see #23 in a Knicks uni again..should've never been let go!

So we traded them only to match the salary but may have gotten a verbal agreement on who they waive so we get them back on minimum deals? Is that possible?

dude, they are 2nd rounders.

jorts is the worst part to lose.

this isn't a terrible deal at all.

I know but as I said previously, as a capped out team we need to keep assets and I think we gave up a lot of them here. But I know the benefits will be greater and if we can get our SG after the moves we have made, well be fine. Just worry this move will hurt us getting Foye or any other solid SG.

assets are worth something to use to acquire players.

our stars are here, we just need a better bench and shore up weaknesses.

jorts is a tough one to lose, but 2nd round picks for what we expect to be (a 50 win team) is not gonna be much.

in 2015/16 we will likely be rebuilding in some form.

whether that's with some of the main pieces (like melo in his early 30s) and cap space (seems more likely) or via a full on rebuild, which we have never seen in ny.

Kidd and Camby will be on the bench doing crossword puzzles for most of any game. The idea is quality depth can can give you 15 minutes a night and BUILD a lead when you need a change of pace or when the starters are sluggish.

Stop the whining.

I believe the new CBA does not allow players to return to the team that traded them for an _______ amount of period.
Same with amnesty, we can trade back for them though, I think.

I want to say that players you trade can't come back to the team for like 90 days? Is that correct?

loweyecue wrote:Another bad trade. Love Camby but at what price? Does TD count against their cap or ours at this point? Why couldn't we keep Jorts? And why couldn't we get a pick back instead of shipping out two seconds? UGH

why is this a bad trade?

jorts is a tough loss, but we have no cap space and want to bring back smith (i am guessing).

how else were we gonna get the guy in a competitive marketplace for his signing?

I don't think anyone does. They will both be backups and then valuable in the playoffs.
