Great point I mentioned that in another thread

God that picture and that Isiah smile like "NY I delivered the goods" makes my stomach turn

It's bad but this one's worse:

A real or photoshopped one of Layden, Isiah, and Dolan all together smiling would be the worst!

I would not be surprised if Lin met with Grunwald and they agreed that he would test the market and there was agreement to structure a comparable package. Lin loves NY, he will be making (based upon estimates) 20-40 million this year alone. Lin is bright kid and his agents/lawyers are well aware of the NY market and world wide exposure. Any contract he winds up get will be less than 10% of the cost of Garden renovations. He will be back.

Not if, for some very strange reasons and circumstances, we all wake up tomorrow and see "Lin is heading out to Hollywood to play for...wait for it...The Lakers." headlines everywhere. Don't underestimate Mitch Kupchak. He's good at creating magic out of thin air.

The Rockets have agreed to terms with Jeremy Lin, who intends to sign offer sheet, according to person briefed on talks. Terms unknown.

Knicks should not match they should sign and trade , Lin is not worth 30 million based on 26 starts that is a joke. Let him go to Houston and do nothing and watch Linsanity die . I would be happy with a Felton Kidd backcourt that plays defense.

According to @WojYahooNBA, Lin offer sheet is $5M, $5.2M and the balloon third year is $9.3M plus team option 4th. Jerome James cost more!

it's essentially the exact same contract Landry Fields got, with a team option for 4th year.

this is a no-brainer for the knicks. and it's not even $30M... it's $28.8M with the 4th season not guaranteed.

Kevin Pelton ‏@kpelton
It's 28.8. Significant digits, people! RT @sam_amick: Source with knowledge of the Lin offer sheet from Houston says it's "not 30 million."

I know this is formality and part of the business, but I've always seen a player signing an offer sheet with another team as a sign that he wants to leave for that new team. Can't a player simply get the offer and go back to the original team for it to give him the same contract? Because with this I really get the idea that he wants to play for the Rockets and if that is so, I would give ish for Linsanity anymore and, as others have suggested, simply work a sign and trade with Houston.

once a player agrees to an offer sheet, a sign and trade is out of the question. you can't do that with an RFA.

knicks (and probably lin's agent, too) needed to fairly set lin's market price. it was really hard to guage what he'd get. i'm hoping that the knicks explained this to lin and there are no hard feelings.

the dinner woodson had with lin, melo and tyson on the west coast recently makes me feel better about this stuff. as does the fact that kidd is one of lin's role models.

maybe fans will stop crying now about Lin leaving. Also, are people still mad the GM let the league set the market on Lin?
