If the offer of all those first and second round draft picks are true, its easy to understand why Phoenix would take the deal.

If Lin is the last man standing after all this and we lose out on Kidd as well, this team will not be contending unless there is a major shake up on this roster. We need a playoff tested PG who can still contribute to get by Miami, Boston, and Chicago. The Sixers could give us a run for our money right now.

Exactly. I mean people are thrilled we still ahve shump and i am happy too but it also means we at best are looking at 2nd round

Me too, I believe Shump has a bright future provided he makes a full recovery and makes a commitment to work on his game. But the question for me is which player would have had more of an impact on this squad over the next 2-3 years? Nash or Shump?

Well shump is gonna be out most of the year and he probably wont be able to conntribute muxh even if he gets back since he was out so long anyway so no it doesnt look too good. I mean just making the playoffs doesnt appeal to me i want them to go far it just diesnt look good now

You think Chicago doesnt expect Derrick Rose to contribute next year?

Some people hate parting with our yoots since they are ours and home grown - its like trading Cano for Pujols, most yankee fans would never have done it and I feel the same way.

Question:

WHo was the last home grown knick that we traded away and ended up being a star?

Does Nene count? If not, then Mark Jackson.

We suck at drafting lotto picks. We trade them away like nene camby or we draft frye over bynum & granger. Jordan hill over jennings, lawson. Balkman over rondo etc I would take lee, wilson or gallo over Amare

Neither are stars and we got Doc Rivers (and Charles fukkin Smith :-() for Mark Jackson and Doc was a big part of our Championship push.

Either way far from stars.

I agree with you. I don't think they wanted an injured/Defensive-only player who might not even play next season.

We certainly do but you can say that about many of the teams. The draft is mostly a crap shoot. But we certainly suck at it.

Why does that represent anything bad? It's frustrating to have a scenario like this snatched away. Nash might have put us over the top.

Some people are too arrogant about their "fandom".

Why does Shump have to be a star now just cos we dont get Nash? Cant he just be an intrical part of a winning team?

Just curious but how are some so in love with the underachieving and fragile team we had last season? Its like some of you don't want the Knicks to improve but simply keep the same core. While I wasn't thrilled of parting with Shump, I could see the value of having Nash's amazing playmaking skills on a team that more than anything needed direction and stability. How many times we asked for improvement at pg? Who would've been a great fit to mentor Lin?

But no, we don't want Nash, no Kidd, no Felton. WTF do we want them? The same fragile underachieving team we had last season? At this point not even Lin is a certainty for us.

I'm glad we keep Shump and hope he develops, but some here think he is the second coming of MJ and that is disturbing. Make no mistake that landing Nash would've really placed us in the tittle discussion, even if general belief was we would've given up the most points in the NBA.

But yeah, we dodged another bullet, right? Yeah, we are back in the safe zone called mediocrity.

How will we improve this offseason? Have no idea but its looking less likely we will while everybody else gets stronger.

You are assuming that the knicks killed the trade by not including Shump and I don't think that is the case. PHX was not interested.

So Shump does not "have to be a star" now.
